The great thing about this track for me is it sounds like the old classic Santana of the 70,s even though its on one of his more recent albums. I have to admit i am probably in the minority amongst Santana fans and prefer listen to albums like welcome Santana 3 Abraxus.

I'm a keyboardist - mostly Hammond organ and the lead organ section on this song is the only part that I have never liked. Strange to hear me say that but, it's way too over-done...that and the section that Carlos plays afterwards...both are overdone because, the song calls for no more than what took place in the main body of the song. A Hammond/Leslie has all the capabilities to sound sweet and lyrical, so as to make a statement without the push that happens here.

The Hammond sound (and action) is wonderful not, corny; it's THE MOST immitated sound in keyboards and I'll always love & play an original tone wheel Hammond/Leslie set. My favorite setting is probably that which you hear on "A Whiter Shade of Pale"...it's clean and precise. If Chester had played his solo in that tone setting and left out the showing off for a more lyrical lead, I would have been on board...it would have fit the song better. The comment was made not as negative but, as an artistic opinion based on what I like and dislike, in terms of playing in balance and with taste on any given individual song. I love the song but, I just don't feel that organ solo the way it was played...and I play Hammond so, that qualifies me in my own musical opinions on Hammond organ. This is one of my favorite Santana songs and Santana is the best there is. But to be fair I went and listened to several songs that were played by Satriani, whom I've never heard before, and I have to say he isn't even in the same league as Santana. Maybe when he has some years and experience behind him and learns to play with emotion and not just pluck the strings he may measure up, but for now there is no one as good as Santana in displaying the art of playing the guitar.

Of the shredders / fast playing guitarists out there, Joe Satriani is in a league of himself, because he doesn't only play fast like e.g. Malmsteen, Vai, Gilbert etc. he actually plays with a lot of feeling and has a signature sound just like Carlos has had for more than 40 years now. I totally dig Carlos - eventhough his newer material is a bit to mainstream - like his older material where he did a lot more improvisation - but still one of the best guitarists in the world.
