Sounds like the Kingston Trio who did jingle. My Dad had a pump action spayer just full of DDT. My Brothers and I used to spray each other with it-we would fill it up with water. Used to break thermometers and roll the mercury around in out hands. Ilfe was good in the 1050's
Thank God that this commercial was aired before I was born-that mouse's bloodcurdling scream of "RAID!!!!" would have been traumatized the hell out of me as a kid.
By the way, who composed the jingle for this commercial...Flatt & Scruggs?
I don't like mice poison because not only is it dangerous around pets & children, but also leaves a dead mouse lying in the house, especially in the middle of the floor ewww.
I don't know. I'm too busy snickering over the fact that he's the subject of a rather cheerful-sounding song that has him going to "that big piece of cheese in the sky" to consider that!
@chabba77 Why? Just because they might pester people and leave some dirt around, chew on things, etc.?! That is NOT the mouse's fault! It's their nature. Mice are cute and make good pets along with their relatives gerbils, hamsters. Roaches are hated for the same reasons: germs; droppings. As with mice, noone looks at roaches's good points: gentle; pretty colors; cute, long antenae; can cure cancer; pollunate plants; predict hurricanes; etc. Both creatures are SO MISTREATED!!
Careful, if you kill rats and mice, you may find yourself being charged with cruelty to animals - like those on the "I'm a celbrity...." show! What a freaking joke
I'm sure PETA enjoys mice chewing everything from electrical cords to boxes in the pantry, and consider themselves blessed to have rodent droppings everywhere in their homes, carrying diseases and god knows what else into every corner of their home.
Though I admit I'm not a big fan of poisons given that the rodents eat it, then crawl off (often into the walls) to die. Yay for the stench of decomposing rodents.
...and Dick Tufeld is the announcer. The jingle is indeed adapted from the Kingston Trio's 1959 hit, "M.T.A.".

Ah yes, poison, the least intellegent way to rid yourself of rodents.
Can I put a few packages of that out for the neighbors?
Waterlilycat 2 years ago
Yep, it's better to get yourself a Jack Russel Terrier. They excel in killing rats!
TimmyGal 2 years ago
Uh-huh. Cats and Schnauzers can also make short work of the job.

Oh yes, schnauzers are cool!

I prefer snap traps. Simple and painless.

No, actually PETA encourages people to do things to prevent mice from entering their homes in the first place.
