  • With all due respect to a genius like Mr. Pinnok, I don't think Couperin wrote such a beatiful masterpiece to be played too fast like this.

  • For me, this interpretation is just about right: a pretty steady Vivement, with life but no bustle, and just a little easing of the tempo to mark the rondeau structure. Furthermore, there is a clarity of texture that eludes others on the clavecin. I like it - thanks for posting.

  • So delightful! Pinnock never fails to please whatever the music.

  • Very nice. Almost all other interpretations have the tempo varying all over the map. In all music you have to keep a reasonably steady beat. I like my music less soulful and "meaningful" and cleaner.

  • A 'job and finish' recital :(

  • This seems a very crude interpretation to me. Tempo too fast and almost metronome regular, the phrasing too smooth and uninspiring. I know he's a respected player but I rarely hear anything by him that I like.

  • This composure was made to let the beautiful lower sound of the harpsichord chime! I find this a disgrace to the song. but that just my opinion.

  • trop rapide ce qui entraine une confusion harmonique

  • A bit too fast

  • @dashinglarry The tempo signature of this piece is "Vievement" = rapidly .

  • @omocaigomocaig ""Vievement" = rapidly"

How fast is "rapid"? Playing fast makes the piece considerably shorter, too short actually. This here is 2 minutes. Furthermore, this fast play increases the noise ratio, the ratio of pleasant sound to the hammering and scratching noise of the mechanical aggregates in the instrument. I think, pieces < 2 minutes are for children and beginners. Time has changed, anno 1700 "rapid" is "moderato" today.

  • @MucusFelidae So Chopin's minute Waltz is a piece for children and beginners if it lasts less than 2 minutes? The lenght of the music has nothing to do with difficulty.

  • @KegPatcha When I play a piece twice as fast the duration of the piece is half as long. Playing fast and faster and faster than everybody else is sports but not music.

  • grazie mille

  • BEAUTIFUL!!!
