So, I may have to learn the vocals to this for a marching band show.... May I ask (if anyone would know) What the heck the words mean? I found lyrics, but am curious as to what they could possibly mean? Or at least what language they are in. =) Thanks!
This whole album is a masterpiece. What a musical journey! Anfd for those who haven't seen "Duma," I'd recommned it. It's better than your average family film; plus, the soundtrack is awesome.
This is so amazing. I awakens incredible feelings, it makes me want to dance, cry, shout, laugh, and run forever in the wilderness. It makes me feel connected to nature - to my own, and to the one around me. Makes us One.
I'm not an expert on solfege specifics, but in my college textbooks the seventh scale degree is listed as 'ti'. Even my NAWM listed 'ti'. I'm guessing English speaking people's use 'ti' instead of 'si', and therefore it's not a 'horrible mistake' that Jenkins' lyrics followed suit.
@mmyylleenn How ignorant of you to bring god into this. Couldnt you have just said "How beautiful" instead of referencing God. For you to call people arrogant because they dont share the same religous belief as yours is arrogant and ignorant. Remember Myleen thats how wars are started.
@dinglenutzz I think mmyylleenn was just trying to point out how amazing the world is. I agree with her, this world is too awesome to have been an accident. Also, she didn't mention any specific religion.
Amazing song ! Stunningly beautiful animal ! And there are still people out there that say theres no God........... how arrogant . This is pure beauty ! ColorfulSky......thank you.....:)
Nothing like stumbling over old music on accident and falling in love with it all over again. Karl Jenkins, you are forever re-instated as one of my favorite composers.
the only qualms I have about Karl Jenkins at all is that he occasionally attempts to borrow ideas that Phillip Glass has already put in a wonderful setting. But I enjoy his blend of neo-baroque harmonies, modality, african drum rhythms, Spanish, Celtic, etc.
the first time I heard this song was 1998 when I went to a color guard competition to watch a few friends and they used this song. I have had it since!

@AllStater09 they're not words, they're solfege notes. most high school chorus teachers can explain it. I can't, sorry.

Why all english people think that B is "Ti" ?
Actually, in french and spanish (and all others who use these names), it's
do (C), ré (D), mi (E), fa (F), sol (G), la (A), si (B) oO
It's amazing I can find an official record, from Karl Jenkins' Adiemus, with this horrible mistake in it :O
Cehexkay 1 year ago
@Cehexkay you are right but I think it's in favor to stress the consonant and not a mistake.....
ulimaino 1 year ago
@ulimaino ya perhabs in order not to be confused with "C"... I talked bout that with english musicians, they were convinced that I was mistaking x)
Cool song anyways ^^

@Cehexkay @dleduddet because in the chromatic system, i is added when half step up:
Ascending chromatic scale:
DO DI RE RI MI FA FI SOL SI LA LI TI DO
Descending Chromatic scale:
DO TI TE LA LE SOL SE FA MI ME RE RA DO
