Scripture says Like this "Exodus 20: 4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
Icons are not idols. Icons are representations of that which is holy...and invite us to contemplate the mystery of God's love for us.....also--according to Orthodox thought--the very fact that the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, means that physical representations of the divine are permissable and helpful :)
If JESUS is the EXpress image of the INVISIBLE GOD.... what invisible GOD(THEOS) is He the visible image(IKON) of? THE Father? GOD THE SON? GOD THE HOLY GHOST? IF THEOS means simply GOD . And GOD is triune, then Jesus is the express image of the invisible TRINITY?
I don't think so my friends, JESUS IS THE VISIBLE MANIFESTION OF THE INVISIBLE GOD( THE FATHER). GOD IS ONE! Heb 1:3 COL 1:13
So what if one text was taken out because it was a fake! The Nicene Church Fathers were able to define the doctrine as infallible truth based on the many other texts which do teach it: they didn't need 1 John 5:7. E.g. Matthew 28:18-19, John 1:1, John 8:58, 2 Corinthians 13:14, Acts 5:4, Genesis 1:1-2, 1 Peter 1:1-2 etc.
What came first scripture or tradition? Looking at the scriptures alone, you'll never come to a complete understanding of what Christianity is. Study the creeds to help formulate your answers.

you still haven't answer the triniry taken out the RSV bible WHY
1 John 5:7 Its taken out saying its a interpolation, fabrication, thrown out the RSV bible.
32 scholars of the hightest eminence, backed by 50 co-operating denominations took it out the bible saying its not the word of God.
