Finally Lord Pearson admits that the Swiss system of direct democracy is the way to go. I am proud to be Swiss by the way, at least our referendum initiatives get heard to make things happened the way we want. UK should do the same and get rid of those hypocrites in Westminster.
I'm American and am not familiar with the different parties of the UK. I'm guessing this guy didn't win the election...what with him being so blunt and not beating around the bush and all.
Vote UKIP,The thing i hate most about UK politics is the fact that there are a big proportion of voters who just swap red for blue,You know,They voted Labour last time but will vote tory this time,This is stupid voting,Make your vote count,Use it on a party that relates to you,Not just one of the two big parties,As they are both lame.
Swapping Brown for Cameron still disenfranchises a large poroportion of the electorate. UKIP got my vote for the EU elections. It will receive my vote for the General Election too.
I would love it if UKIP could get enough votes to cause a hung parliament and allow themselves to radically change the face of British politics, but the fact is I just don't believe it can be done. And yes, I realise people thinking that is the reason, but me not thinking it won't change others' minds. My vote is for Cameron, not my ideal but I want Labour OUT.
Can't say I really understand the whole "blue-labour" reference, but whatever.
While I'm not really in favour of our EU membership, there are other issues I feel are more important at the moment. Things Labour have been screwing up for a long time. I don't think any party bar the BNP could do a worse job than Brown, that's why I'm voting tactically to get them out.
As much as I would like to see a Unified Europe I also strongly agree with Malcolm Pearson.
I my self am a strong advocate for direct democracy, referendums, and recall mechanisms. It's the only system where it is difficult to corrupt and where the people are enabled to embrace their democracy.
Prime example of where democracy did work recently was Switzerland's referendum on minarets, the appeasing government were strongly for minarets dotting their landscape put the people said NO MINARETS!
^onto public servants, meaning that the government has nobody who decides anything, simply those who carry out the public's requests.
Some means of checking and balancing the system to ensure funding for necessities that people take for granted and for important areas with fewer interested individuals would be necessary, perhaps in the form of a points system based on location, industry, etcetera.
All in all, I believe such a system could work if properly engineered and managed.
I say do away with the party political system entirely and handle everything via digital referendum. We should be making use of modern technology, not waiting on a bunch of old men to decide everything for us.
With proper grouping of subjects the choices wouldn't be unmanagably numerous for the average citizen and by handling everything through a secure network linked to a few hundred government buildings throughout the country the system would be secure. The politician's workload could be laid
@CuriousMoth Gosh what a perfectly good plan. Why not throw away a 10 year political study and 40 years of experience. That doesn't matter and any twat telling you it does is just out of his f mind isn't he! Let the plebs rule with modern tech, this will make the world better!
God.. come on, why are people so full of sht.. =S It can't be stupidity can it? I'll be ashamed for you if you can't be.
Lord Pearson is an articulate, elegant, honest, convincing speaker, both calm and ambitious, passionate and restrained, unlike that elastic, moronic, posturing pragmatist, Cast Iron Dave.
Well done, UKIP! Long live the free nations of Europe! Down with the EUSSR!
Your information is way of the mark. There is no animosity towards the UK leaving the EU. If there is, then that would be another reason for getting out of an organisation behaving like an immature child throwing its toys out the pram because it doesn't get its own way. If you truly believe what the EU is threatening Latvia and Iceland with and think it is right, then you need a humanity check. I do hope for your sake this is not the case as It is absolutely disgusting.
CaptainKhrenov can you explain why both Norway and Switzerland have been granted trading arrangements without EU membership but the Uk would be refused ?
And please try and resist any childish schoolboys insults, as in your previous post.
I will remind you that the so called Eurosceptics are the MAJORITY in this country. Never forget that.
He couldn't be more right, although I hope he can keep the party's momentum going like Farage (and hopefully Farage will stay in the national attention).
Hey UKIP listen to Lord Monckton and start fighting back or you guy's won't exist in the next few years also if you look into the We Are Change groups in the UK and Ireland and their issues you may garner more support especially from the young activists. Keep it up but get smarter.
What puzzles me is why are so many people resigned to their fate, bloody hell we are british!! We have been lied to and deceived. Repeal the 1972 Act is our way out. After that a referendum negotiating a trade arrangement with the EU. Remember this cuts both ways - we buy BMW's and VW's from the Germans and lots of them too! A deal would be struck - it would have to be!!
Very true. We've ended up in this situation because we have lost any connection or control over the political class. Tory, Labour or Liberal, they are little more than career criminals engaged in the wholesale sellout and betrayal of the British people.
And now we face living under a totalitarian state, something our career criminals enbrace because accountability is exactly what they dont actually like. With accountability you can see their thieving, their treasonous betrayal & their lies.
The lisbon treaty was never voted for by the british public niether was our new leader herman von Schmiegel, and therefore should not be recognised ! We should just put a middle finger up at the eu and walk !! If they dont like it, TOUGH ! Im prepared to fight for my democracy and freedom like my ancestors did for me !
Great idea of the hung Parliament, however you might want to expand on the Swiss system more as most of the country might not grasp to concept, advantages and disadvantages to the current system.
Do you understand why the Tories had to withdraw that promise? They were hoping that the remaining memberstates would take long enough to come to a decision for the Lisbon Treaty to be put into effect, but it is now in effect, and nothing can be done.
Tell me, what would be the use in having a referendum on the Lisbon Treaty now? It's too late. What we need to do is stick up a middle finger at the European union, and leave altogether. In my oppinion, UKIP are a one hit appeasment party.
I don't think you listened to me. I know the Tories are moronic fakes, just as the main parties are, but I don't think UKIP are any different. Please could you explain to me how holding a treaty on something which is now in effect will do any good? Obviously im missing something here.
There is no point in holding one now because the Lisbon Treaty is in effect. It's too late. All we can do now is pull out of the EU, but I don't think UKIP will do that. You just want to appease the EU, and try and get us more influence. The EU is an unelected socialist dictatorship, and we should leave. UKIP are just a one trick pony.
We in the US are heading down the same path,it is time for decent people to stand up and demand the end of government corruption!I love the message, you are not alone!!
What we have is that ancient goal of all dictators -power without responsibility. Only now, of course it has been enhanced with the new device of power without accountability.
The EU is a corrupt dictatorship wearing the clothes of a democracy.
The time has come to trim those eyebrows. They're very off-putting. I agree with everything that Lord Pearson says here. We must get out of the EU. Vote UKIP.

We are not a democracy for three reasons:
1. Our so-called Prime Minister has bever been elected;
2. 80% of our laws are decided by the unelected beurcrats in Brussels;
3. The three main parties are all offering exactly the same thing.
A vote for UKIP is a chance to say no to these obscenities. It's your democracy-use it or lose it!

UKIP said they'd disband if the tories held a referendum. These idiots are a one hit party. Don't be fooled.
woodpod 2 years ago
What was said was that they would put country before party which is an admirable position to take.
What the Tories basically said was "screw the country, our party is more important"
This has been shown by their refusal to carry out their promise to have a referendum on the Lisbon Treaty.
ukipwebmaster 2 years ago
Do you understand why the Tories had to withdraw that promise? They were hoping that the remaining memberstates would take long enough to come to a decision for the Lisbon Treaty to be put into effect, but it is now in effect, and nothing can be done.

Yes, because they had no intention of ever carrying it out.
They are Euro-sceptic fakes to bring in the votes, it's as simple as that.

That's like saying the Berlin Wall will never come down, you've just got to accept your lot.
We can leave by repealing the 1972 act and any treaty can be unilaterally abrogated. There is historical precedence for this.
The bottom line is that the Tories are quite happy to sacrifice the Untied Kingdom on the alter of European Union.
