The only similarites are that it's played in a hockey arena and requires an immense amount of hand-eye coordination to do well. Box lacrosse strategy is actually very similar to basketball with the pick and rolls and defensive styles.

this post is stupid. Use what you like. Soft makes for an instant pocket with no real break in time. Hard takes more commitment to get it right. It can hold perfect shape for a long time, but can be a real sonofabitch to get it right. Get a second stick and all 3 types of mesh. Play around, pick your favorite!
