I was at the finals and was my first time in over 10 years but the gears and tears programme brought all the memories and the fever back my fave driver is frankie wainman and i only live just down the road from him. He was doin well until the second stop when smithy got infront of a few back markers they should be made to do like they do in other motor sports and pull over to let the front drivers past. But congratulations to Smithy who won the finals
No problem if the thumbs down is given that is obviously a waved yellow. The incidents I am referring to were all on the bend after that straight(we were by the ice cream van). The Marshall on the outside of the track gave the thumbs up to the drivers and they all gave a thumbs up back. The Marshall on the inside of the track waited a minute or so then waved yellows. Just wondered if it is now deemed under health and safety to be too dangerous to sit on the outside of the bend strapped into you
@fma010 I'm not 100% on the incedent you mentioned but waved yellows don't normaly come out for a car stoped against the fence in the turns only a static yellow to warn other drivers that there's a car with driver in stoped on track! If the car is side on or on the racing line and is deemed to be in a dangorous position the cleark of the course may ask for yellows! So in this case could be that they decided car was in a dangerous place!
I was marshal on back straight and when 107 came in to fence he already had thumbs down he'd been hit really hard on lefthand side of cab and was badly winded and neck hurt! I know yellows are a pain and we take a lot of flack for them but if a driver gives thumbs down you have to put them out! Belive me any marshal will say the same you only throw yellows if you really have to!
Fab vid. Excuse my ignorance as I haven't been F1 stock car racing for twenty odd years but have the rules changed with regards to waved yellows at every stranded car? At the world final last week it was stop start all night. I'm sure it never used to be like that.
Agree yellows are a lot stricter these days. H&S basically. Not completely sure of the 'rules', but a marshall needs a thumbs up from a stranded driver or it's yellows. Yellows are also shown for stranded cars deemed to be 'on the racing line'. Having said that, would you want to have been in 107's place stranded sideways on the back straight lol?
I though my vid of the WF final was a bit naff, but if some viewers liked it, it makes it worthwhile.
Brilliant video from a great race! I really wanted frankie to win but I knew that andy smith is just so fast!!! He had to work for it this year though! Also well done too rocket ron kroondor he was matching smith on pace for a few laps! Think the Dutch may have exploded if ron had won (lol)
Nice job from H414 !
