LT1 is a 5.7L 350ci V8 motor that is factory rated at 280hp but has proven to dyno over 270 whp stock on numerous F-Body and Corvette applications. Do not get the earlier LT-1 version confused with the 3rd gen LT1. The LT1 can be thanked for the LSx applications that you see today.
"In 1992, GM created a new-generation small-block engine called the LT1, similar to the high-output Generation I LT-1 of the 1970s. It displaced 5.7 L (350 cu in) and was a 2-valve pushrod design."
Probably. If you're handy, have some Fiero savvy friends who have done swaps, you could do it for much less. Fast Fieros will put a 3800SC in your Fiero for about $9k.

why not just buy a corvette?
mxking17 2 years ago
Corvettes are neat, but the Fiero can be fooled with for low bucks.

where did you get that done at?
lpwakesk848 2 years ago
He did it with some friends in the Fiero club he belongs to.

I think the LT1 can be either a small or big block.

According to Wikipedia:
"In 1992, GM created a new-generation small-block engine called the LT1, similar to the high-output Generation I LT-1 of the 1970s. It displaced 5.7 L (350 cu in) and was a 2-valve pushrod design."
Looks like an LT1 or LT-1 is a small block.

4t50E might work better

An LT1 is not a big block.

Did someone say the LT1 is a big block? I like big blocks. The LT1 is certainly bigger than the 2.8 V6 that came with the car.

MotorSportsMoron 3 years ago
Its a 4t60 4speed automatic transmission, the stock tranny is a bit weak.
cjtkvincent 3 years ago

Seems to have about a 300 hp limit. GMinside has some info, Thrasher has some stuff.
cjtkvincent 2 years ago
very nice, have you thought of installing a ls7 in that thing?
SagaraSouske 3 years ago
For now, the LT1 will have to do.
cjtkvincent 3 years ago
LS7s are like what, 15,000$? He probably did the whole LT1 swap for half that, lol. WITH the transmission.
Timothayyy 3 years ago
Well now he has a $12,000 Fiero!
