Vorder- und Rückseite eines Toasts können ja verschieden crunchy sein und auch die Kanten: z.b. kann die Kante, die beim Toast nach oben schaut anders crunchy sein als die anderen. Natürlich gibt es gewisse Symmetrieen, sodass man den Cruchinesstensor diagonalisieren kann, indem man ins Hauptachsensystem wechselt.

There seems to be a difference between crunchiness and crispness. The latter seems a quality that is much desired due to the stress relief effect of hearing one's teeth conquer - a response that is predictable considering evolutionary forces, and so on. Crunchiness may have more to do with the simple practicality of knowing the wind has not blown the food out of one's mouth - in other words, tactile feedback. Much appreciated.
