@StePat67 , Ron Paul is pro-Citizen's United, he wan't to lower Corporate taxes to 15%, he wants Capital Gains taxes to be 0%, he wants less regulations on Wallstreet, and he voted against Glass-Steagel...so your assertion that Ron Paul + Occupy = logical fit, ...is absurd to me.
@xuserx2000 the wealthy hate Paul because he would disrupt the status quo which they benefit from. paul would end the incessant regulation and subsidies that do nothing but stifle competition and protect special interests. read his policies more closely!
OMG Totally! The 1% hates that Obama appoints more bankers to his administration then any president in history and hands them our earnings whenever they need it. We need to fight against Ron Paul so we can free the poor oppressed bankers and give the Federal Reserve total control!
@bosshog7169 , please name the bankers in Obama's administration. I think you meant lobbyist maybe?
Without the Fed, the government would still borrow from banks btw.
It's clear to me that you don't know what you're talking about, which is why you posted a sarcastic comment, void of any substance or fact.
Like Newt, Ron Paul would lower Capital Gains taxes to ZERO, which is the single largest contributor to weath desparity between rich and lower income classes in this country.
The problem with democrats these days is you seem to be using your own set of "facts". You aren't understanding the difference between borrowing from banks and letting them print money as they please. The inequality you find yourself in isn't because you need to take more money from rich people, its your increasing reliance on the nanny state run by Obama and Geithner and all their wall st buddies. Get out yo tent, go to starbucks, and use google if you want lists.
@bosshog7169 , ;the burden of proof is on the person making claims...not the person questioning them, however, I did fact check you and you are making shit up like most people do when they want to pretend they know what they are talking about. You've just resorted to rehtorical talking points, sarcasm, and hyperbole...in an effort to obfuscate, ..and notice you didn't specifically refute anything I said or even address any of my points. The "Fed" doesn't print money by the way.
I thought I addressed all your points briefly. Saying the Fed doesn't print money is like me saying I don't ever make copies because kinko's does it for me. I can't teach a class on youtube to you, not enough room. In short, I think socialism is a wonderful idea and have read everything Marx has ever written and have fancy degrees saying as much. It won't work in America though with so many selfish idiots and anyone who trusts a govt to install it is naive and gullible.
@bosshog7169 , ...I'm not talking about Socialism nor am I advocating it.., and it has nothing to do with anything I said about Ron Paul and the Occupy movement.
That is in part what OWS seems to advocate though. If occupy is just upset about Wall st goings-on, then how does Obama's appointment of people like Geithner and his cronies not infuriate them? Ron Paul is the only one attacking these issues, thus the connection makes sense to me. Can't you concede that he would be preferable to the neo con candidates? If its Obama vs Romney, those are going to be some boring debates since they agree on so much.
@bosshog7169 , Occupy is not "pro-socialism"...it's anti-wallstreet corruption, against Citizen's United, and pro-economic justice. Ron Paul is a DEREGULATION candidate, a totally unregulated "free marketeer".
There are definately many criticisms that Obama deserves from the Occupy movement, ...from his appointments, to the NDAA, to GITMO, etc etc Is he an "Occupy" candidate ?...HELL NO. BUT, is he against Citizen's United? YES, is he pro-Wallstreet/Corporate regulations? YES.
@bosshog7169 - The point is, Occupy is not a political "tool" to promote a candidate. That's why people claiming Ron Paul as some sort of defacto "figurehead" of Occupy is absolutely absurd, considering the many contradictions his platform has with the core issues that created the movement.
Is there some issues he's in agreement with Occupy on?...OF COURSE, but that doesn't mean that 3 issues join RP and Occupy at the hip. Same goes for Obama, he's not an "ows" friendly candidate
Devolution happens generally when the lower strata coagulate and gelatinize into a mass unable to do much but wander aimlessly...much like Zombies, who are then immediately re-leashed to the corporate doorstep so it can begin all over again. Funny thing...the United States corporation keeps doing this...yet you never seem to remember not to fall for it.
Regulations are decriminalization of behavior. What used to get people, regardless of how wealthy, powerful, or "too big to fail" locked up or at least heavy fines is now ignored. BP spilled some oil...oh well. AIG took tax dollars for bonuses...oh well. Fanny and Freddie using tax dollars to underbid other companies...oh well. Risky and/or illegal speculative buying destroyed companies...oh well, and here is some more tax payer money to bail you out with.
Not many agree with Ron Paul on 100% of his ideas and beliefs, but seriously. Can you really pass up voting for him and nitpick a few issues he likely won't even have control over, in favor of these other losers, who most of you have no common beliefs in.
Write down your biggest concerns and then go through and follow up on what each candidate says about it. If they have flip flopped on the issue to get more votes, you are basically playing roulette.
@brendanmcwilliams - You mean like...less regulations on Wallstreet, less taxes for the 1%, zero capital gains taxes, and the fact that he's NOT against Corporate personhood? ...yea, sorry those are deal breakers for me.
These were the same things done after 15 years of the Great Depression, and it solved the problem in spite of the influx of people returning from the war. Of course, knowing this requires actually reading history, so I understand that most aren't interested once they hear they have to pick up a book.
We need more of the occupiers to evolve, they need to understand that eventually they won't even be able to speak out they way they do, because under obama's administration and anyone else's for that matter are constitutional rights are being stripped and sadly it seems that freedom of speech may be the next to goat least on the web (ACTA) Please everyone support Ron Paul for President in 2012! and veterans be in DC on Feb. 20th for the march that will make history.
@dubk71 I plan on being in DC to show my support although i'm not a veteran, i plan on renting a van so i can help transport as many veterans from my area i can to march. I also plan on filming the whole event from the sidelines and possibly interview a few vets, to get the message out.
I truly believe that Adam could be the congressman who can galvanize the support of the libertarian base; as others have said won't exist after Ron Paul. if not Adam, it will be someone, the brush fire of liberty is spreading like wild fire all across this nation.
@rjnrf the minarchist foundation has been destroyed over years of slow government control. But, history has shown us that once we break those chains, voluntary cooperation is far superior in building a productive, vibrant economy.
@rjnrf The way I look at it, anarchism is a journey. Statism is so ingrained in us that, for most people, it takes some steps to get away from it. The logical conclusion of the libertarian philosophy, in my opinion, is anarchism. I went from a Democrat supporting hard-socialist, to a Ron Paul supporter, to a libertarian minarchist to a libertarian-voluntarist-anarcho-socialist (who disagrees with, but otherwise has no problem with anarcho-capitalists). I still support Dr. Paul, though.
@rjnrf Hell, if we could have full on agorism, that would be my vote. Is it realistically possible considering most people are too scared of it? Thats the big problem. I like agorism the most because it still works in the face of governments locking down. The black market is always a measure of government regulation.
Well Said.....Ron Paul for President....Get 10 people, 20 people, or even 30 people to either vote for Ron Paul or Register Republican so they can vote for Ron Paul. The race is underway and now is the time to spread Ron Paul's message. Make your vote 10 Votes. What if every Ron Paul supporter brought even 5 people? Do something physical. Actions speak louder than words.
We need to unite under the Constitution and truly teach that it is the Constitution that gives each of us Unique individuals the ability to be free. and enjoy ones Liberty's. OWS still worries me because there are a bunch of Anarchy protesters and some who talk about rewriting the Constitution to be more socialistic.
@thetruth he doesn't want to end the department of education he wants to transition it out of the government into the private sector, which will make the school systems better, more competitive. Cut spending overseas bring our troops home so they can spend their money here and saving the money from over seas will go back into our own system as well. Pass the word along. Ron Paul wants to fix problems as the roots not just trim the bushes. This is what our country needs...
For some crazy reason this turd newt is starting to pull ahead and even gaining ground on that other turd romney. Every American should have voted Ron Paul hands down!!........WTF America?
I can't believe there are only 7% of Floridians have a brain.
If this trend continues across the country I think the US is in serious trouble, I honestly think the US actually needs to go Bankrupt and lose a couple hundred thousand soldiers in WWIII before the American people wake up and realize they need Ron Paul.
Unfortunately he will be 81+ yrs old next election, I think if Ron doesn't win he needs to take care of his family and leave the US.
Put it this way OWS, you can allow another establishment President to be elected to keep the welfare state strong, but WW3 will be on your hands for ignoring what Ron Paul is talking about. As I see it, he's the only one courageous enough to resist the propensity towards more undeclared, perpetual wars, and to end the ones that have been started under Bush and Obama.
Ron Paul's lack of southern support is as if Thomas Jefferson came back from the grave to correct America, and Republicrats spit on him. Modern Americans are such partisan sheep that can be herded over a cliff with ease. Just fuck 'em with the tag team of fictional rivals and they'll be none the wiser.
@masterbrice with that attitude, sure. California and Texas alone each have more delegates than have so far been counted, and both of those states are in Ron Paul's wheelhouse.
but also, americans need to DEMAND an investigation into the blatent voter fraud that took place in Iowa and South Carolina. The media isn't doing it's job, so it's up to individual americans to step it up and put pressure on the powers that be.
The one thing missing:
OWS knows what it's fighting against, but knows not who is fighting for them nor what they are fighting for.

You can't just re-invent history ... that's not at all what happened. The Gold standard is what partially caused the Great Depression.
The NEW DEAL led to greatly increased federal regulation of the economy, and is widely credited for the accelerated recovery of the Great Depression.
