I saw this film on the "Big Screen" when it was first released & it got poor critic reviews which was to be expected considering it deals with a fiction, which is now fast becoming "reality". An incredibly moving film, & "Richard Burton's" best performance (he died shortly after it was made). This film is "censored". I'm 54 years old & have never seen this film on the TV, in the UK. WHY.?
@lexiastar Before he entered room 101 he was given dentures and had been fed quite well after his torture and starvation, but I see your point. There's only so much you can put an actor through to fill the part and this wasn't the day of CGI.

the onlything that spoils this, Winston still has teeth and looks decently healthy. Otherwise superb.

No movie has moved me more than 1984.
John Hurt's ("four fingers") and Patrick Stewart's ("There are four lights") are simply brilliant

Wow the film is really crappy quality. I'd like to see a remake.

Actor was picked because he resembled author George Orwell, I bet.
