does anyone have the song, dream on (solid gone) song 7 on this album? i cant seem to find it on the entire internet, has the whole human race forgotten that track?
I've been a little disappointed in myself lately, getting out of being such a music fanatic. Now I realize it's cause the music that's on the radio today sucks. Even in the 90's the music on the radio was MOSTLY fantastic and had some originality. Now people just copy, copy, out right plagerize, steal, copy... blah blah blah...
Man, I loved this when it came out. Actually, as I recall, most of the rest of this whole album was really good. I bought it for this song, and was surprised by the rest of it.
The Soup Dragons covered some Rolling Stones songs (e.g., I'm Free) and this song is structured very similarly to Honky Tonk Woman. But its different enough to stand on its own. I love it and the video !
most certainly miss the 90's, I was 16 in 1990 so it was very impacting, rock was very much alive . Oh wait, Lady Gaga is on and he's boning Miley Cyrus, gotta go.
Being alive since the 70's, I can say that the 90's clearly produced the greatest music. To sum it up, 70's=great classic rock and punk, Led Zeppelin, The Ramones etc. The 80's sucked. The 90's = amazing. The 2000's suck Big Ti
the only decade for music worse than the 90s is the decade running from 2000 to 2010. this decade has produced some of the absolute worst music ever recorded. i have a hard time thinking of ANYTHING decent in the last ten years that was not made by someone that has been around for a while.
@edslides The 90s weren't that bad - Good music from Manchester and Liverpool, (The Stone Roses, Cast, The Charlatans etc.) Supergrass (from Oxford), the Manic Street Preachers (Wales) to name a few but you so are absolutely right about the new millenium, dire drivel, the end of music, Simon Callow will burn in Hell!
I heard this on the radio today and my dad said "Oh wow it's The Soup Dragons!'' and he started singing along with this song lol. I was like "Okay??" ha ha I had no idea who they were because I wasn't alive in the 80's or early 90's, but I like this song a lot! :D
This was one of the best alternative rock bands of the 1990s :) a litle of soulful American blues Black Crowes + British alt punk garage stuff of Primal Scream , Lush, Elastica , Jesus Jones
yep good stuff from the original 90s ( full of punks, angst and GENERATION X )
@jetsonic69: I was about 12 when this song came out and was going to school in India. This was around the time that satellite tv was just getting going over there and we were suddenly inundated with MTV and Channel V. I think this was the first video I really loved!

Remember this song from some movie I saw years back called Hexed. One of those cheesy black comedies where died and there was even a hilarious Rodney King style beating caught on video moment in the film.
Soup Dragons...Jesus Jones...EMF...Happy Mondays.....man those were the days back then.... Saw Soup open for INXS and thought they were better than the headliners!! Same with Jesus Jones...saw them open for Concrete Blond and they were better then Blonde was....great times those days...
hmmmm, the Soup Dragons. I remember them. Their sound really tried to emulate the Madchester sound. Or were they really considered more of that "Baggy" scene in the UK? Eh, not that it matters much, "Baggy" was a ride-the-coattails of the Madchester sound anyway. The Soup Dragons had a few memorable tunes, but couldn't hold up a consistent album. To me that's why they are second tier in this sub-genre compared to Stone Roses and Happy Mondays. C'est le vie.
The Soup Dragons changed styles with each album. Their first efforts were skinny-tie punk-pop, then they moved to that baggy thing. By the time this album "Hotwired" came out they were more of a Stonesish dance-rock sound. Regardless, they had a hit in America in 1992 at a time when American was awash in grunge and most British bands couldn't get arrested here.
Hehe, wow. Also probably my first time hearing it in 15 years. I almost bought the album in middle school, but it doesn't hold up well, I have to say.
Great band. Too bad they never made many waves in the U.S. Once I heard some moron say they sounded like an INXS ripoff. Don't know who poured lead in his ears.
Great post. I've had this song in my head for years and haven't heard it for about 15 years. Good old You Tube to the rescue. I'm also surprised to hear from the comments that it was so big in the States. Over here in the UK it didn't chart and very few people remember it.
@keg74 the 90's were absolutely NOT the greatest era in music, it was the 80's, and this song fit the 80's style 110% The 90 was full of Grunge, Alternative, and the most depressing crap to ever exist. I wish someone would post The Soup Dragon's performance of "Diving Thing" from the Arsenio Hall Show (I think it was in 1992 or 1993). I used to have it on tape, but it got all messed up. I remember, they played it very well, and the visual effects used were awesome. If someone has it, please post it. :) Thank you.

Oops, I meant "Divine Thing."
