idk what to say I guess some people get lucky, my foster mom adopted me and when I turned 18 wanted nothing to do wiyh me, got kicked out at 17 bunch of debts not allowing me into school, wasn't able to get financial support because I couldn't get into school because her names on my birth certificate. now that I'm of age I can put myself in, but since I couldn't come in when I was a minor i lost income. I even got a job and asked if i could pay rent. answer was no. later I get laid off, homeless
i may only be a teen but if i was in that situation i would be blessed to have a family like you take me in, i may not have a perfect family but i am glad there are others who care just as much as mine, we are a family for foster kids and have gotten blessed with the gift of adding more, i may be a biological child to my mom but i love having siblings, whether they are legally ours or not!
It is to bad that a system that was ment to help familys in crises, has become a hot bed of complaints. I am a mother who lost her two very much loved children through mcfd. Now I will say not all workers are child robbing thiefs and even some who are truely believe they are helping children. So its not a ministry hell bent on destroying familys of the poor or uneducated people of today. I had a grat worker and was able to work together. sadly then a shuffle of offices and my babys r gone.
thank you for doing this, isn't it awesome!!! we are in the process of adopting our 7th foster child and if i was younger i would adopt 7 more. some of my bio parents are involved with their children but some aren't which is their choosing. i truly can't understand why everyone doesn't WANT to do foster care. to love these children benefits them as well as ourselves-it is a win win situation. God Bless you my friend!!
Reports of bad parents are falsified ALL eh time Foster parents are LIED to about the real parents CAS STEAL children and gives them to Foster Parents $22 a day per child IS a lot of money - more than a LOT loving parents get and Foster Parents do NOT know what is really going on in eh Foster CARE INDUSTRY - Many kids who are farmed out were NEVER ABUSED! WAKE UP!
This is beautiful, I am a single mother by choice, I was blessed with the best of both worlds when god sent me to angels, my little girl, and four years later my son. I can't imagine my life without them. When the time is right, he will answer your prayers. God Bless all and thank you for sharing your dream.
As part of PBS' POV Adoption Stories, we want to hear real stories about your family from you. Send us your videos, and you might receive an iPad or an iTouch!
is considering this with my foster son whom I adore. Catch is he comes with a brother I haven't been able to get the chance to know. Pray for God's guidance and the chance to spend more time with my child's brother if that's God's will. Hard to make a decision without knowing him much.
Thanks for sharing! We actually started our training and home study two years ago because I was told I couldn't have children, but I got pregnant the same week our home study was due. We gave birth to a boy, a year later my second son came along. We want a daughter but I have no desire to bring another child into this world when there are so many that need homes
ok so i'm a teenager and i was adopted and its amazing how you can change the lifes of others because its true there are millions of kids in america that need adopted and yes kids in other countries need it to but you should try to help the people in ours before you go to the other countries and dont get me wrong adopting from other counries is amazing to thats why when i grow up i want to do both i loved you video!!!! god bless your family :)
What a beautiful, touching story. We started the process to adopt an older child and wound up adopting two young siblings with special needs. Never dreamed that would be our plan, but as your showed, you don't always get "your dream" you get THE dream! Our children's B-Mom was unable to care for them and signed over her rights to give them a better life. She is an amazing woman and I pray that some day my children are able to see that she loved them ENOUGH to make sure they had the best future!
Foster care adoption is not amazing. Children are taken from their homes, stripped of their identities and bonds are broken with parents and relatives...in many cases, for nothing but money
adoption can be a great thing but I do want to say one thing. adoptive parents not only need to nurture their adoptive kid/s but they also need to give them the space to be themselves. I was adopted by parents who expected me to be a certain kind of person - just like them - and I am not, and because of their intolerance of who I am we have not spoken to each other for years. parents should always allow their children to be their own person.
Bravo. I too have been led by God to open my heart and home to children who have no one to love them. Being adopted myself, I was blessed to have been placed (by God) into a loving, secure and Godly home. I hope that I can provide the same level of love, security and faith for the kids that take refuge in my home (and my heart). If you'd ever like to talk and share stories, drop me a line. God bless you sister!! Oh wait - He already had *smiles and wipes away a tear*
AND for the comments about having your "own" kids and stop stealing ours....Let me tell you something. I am not infertile. I have a STRONG desire take care of the children that are already created! I feel like that is my calling in life. So I don't know where you get all the info about how adoption is a money making scheme...I definitely didn't get into it for the money! I do believe there are bad foster homes out there JUST like there are bad birth homes.
And who exactly makes the paycheck? I got reimbursed 22/day per child and most get less than that-I did therapeutic care.. REIMBURSED. That means I spent money on those children. Do you think the state pays for food, clothes, toys, field trips? Do they pay for theme park passes and concert tickets? How about extra gas for soccer practice and little league games? Where do you think that money comes from? I guarantee I have spent WAY more than I ever "made".
My daughter went into care at age 4. She was bounced back and forth for years. Finally at age 13 on Christmas Eve she had her last visit w.her bmom...u know why? NOT bc the state "stole" her. They told her bmom that she had to stay away from the man (1 of many) who molested my daughter. So her bmom came for her last vist to say she was MARRYING the man! And GAVE UP her rights!!!
Social workers don't make commission! They get paid regardless of the caseloads!
You can't believe everything you hear. The social worker may have said the man molested 'your daughter' but that doesn't mean it's true. Many children are apprehended on false allegations. Lives are destroyed by child protection social workers everyday. I am disgusted by reading the comments on this site
Okay, this is MY video. I've removed several ignorant comments. If you want to go on a rampage about the government or anti-adoption talk then do it on someone else's video! Not to MY daughter's tribute! I was a foster parent for 5 years and EVERY single child I had was abused by one or both birthparents! That's 100 %. And why didn't they go to relatives? NO relative wanted them! Now, I know that's not always the case bc we had a referral on a lil girl in a hospital but her aunt took her home.
Why are you removing the 'ignorant comments'? Are you afraid? Do you realize how many children have been wrongfully put up for adoption? Children have been lied to about their parents. Can you imagine what that must be like? There are children that need to be removed, there are good and bad parents, good and bad foster parents. But, you can't remain ignorant forever.
Hmm ... Your story is very interesting, I'd love to hear more. Perhaps I'll write you a personal letter, as I've already left like three comments here, and because I feel as though I'd like to know stuff that may be more personal ... for lack of better wording ...
On 12/22/08, my good friend "Shar" died. She had four small kids, all girls, but she had a lot of problems. Her kids were absolute angels. They were beautiful, and small enough were they hadn't been damaged, yet.
While pregnant with her fourth, another girl, she offered her to me, but I didn't take her seriously. We lost touch after that, until I heard of her death, which is still, a mystery. Anyway, I found out that before her death, she "lost" her kids to the "system," and ... *tears*
its meesed out all over... look at baby phoenix sinclar... was her own mother that killed her... she was a 5 year old who was once a foster child but was given back to the mother... only for her mother and boyfriend to beat and kill her...this and is a very sad story.. for some maybe its the best... but there is alot of people out there that feel like they were takin from home...Maybe for some was a good thing.. but for others no.. it really messed up there lives... anyways
We just adopted a little girl who was in Foster Care. The birth mother relinquished her right, it was her choice. We met with the birth mother and gave us her blessing.
Our daughter is loved by many and her birth mother made an unselfish choice to give her daughter a better life that she could not.
This child has many developmental delays, yet that didn't matter to us because she is beautiful and very determined. I believe in her.
AMEN!!! If all these foster parents want kids, tell them to rally for anti abortion laws. Then they would have PLENTY of children to suck up and leave mine the hell alone! I didn't birth 5 kids to hand them over to the state. I love my sons and I hate adoptiont. Mine were adopted last September and I grieve for them so much that I feel like I am dying. Ask my sons where they want to be and they will say, "I want to go home with you mommy." Watch my vid please called jadyn and joey in my favs
What sicken me is that most of you are so gullable. You actually believe that ALL foster children are abused. WAKE UP!! My sons weren't abused. I have three other children yet DFCS took my oldest two and sold them. Adoption is not about love most of the time. It's about money. Because if it were about love, my sons would be with me and not adopted. Anyone want to debate me? I have MANY pages of docs from another DFCS saying my sons should have been returned to me.
And just because the system screwed you over doesn't mean you should be against all government laws against child abuse. Think about the children who actually are abused. Please. Children ARE being abused out there, and who will protect them if we don't!
I have family members who are foster parents. I babysit their foster children. The youngest was born addicted to crack cocaine. They recently discovered that the baby is deaf because of his exposure to drugs while in utero. The older two are half brother and sister.
It is quite obvious from your comments that you have never been truly exposed to the foster care system. It is because My wife had such a wonderful experience with her foster parents that it provided her the only stability that she had in her adolescent years. Also within the next 2 weeks we are welcoming in to our home our new daughter who is adopted. We are in complete contact with her mother and are looking forward to having her as a part of our lives. Under no cercumstances is she stolen
Beautiful video! We are looking into foster care in our area right now. I don't know if we'll be looking to adopt or not but this video is very encouraging.
Just cause your happy with how things went for you.... does not mean it's okay or the rest of us should be subjected to this... your okay with selling children and buying them... then you should all go and sell each other ...
Most people do look into adopting here through our foster system first. It is so difficult to do being that we have heard several times, the main goal is to get the foster child back to the birth parents. I wish there was a way.
there are children already available for adoption who are legally free to adopt RIGHT NOW! You are thinking of foster care, or the Fost-Adopt program, which are both very different things. Speak to your local government about it as there are many kids waiting for homes now
I know the feeling as Im in Australia...but I am lucky enough to have US citizenship so I am going on the huge journey of pursuing it through that. Perhaps you would find foster care equally fulfilling? I know its not the same but it means so much to the children whose lives you change...
