Audi A4 B6 2.0 FSI, engine noise, strong diesel knock

i have this engine in my golf mk5 its normal. it sounds like shit for petrol. in fact it sounds like diesel at idle and drinks petrol like there's no tomorrow. FSI= MASSIVE FAIL!!! so i went and got a B6 1.9 tdi quattro. same bullshit sound at idle but much better mpg and massive torque no brainer in the real world.

Agree with possible cam follower wear. I have had similar sticking valves/followers in the past with similar 'Diesel' sounds.(Not a Diesel)

High pressure fuel pump cam follower is worn. Pull the pump off and check the 'bucket' follower.

its the oil pump its going to give you engine problens my one the con rod broken.....

I have the exact same problem on my 07 GTI and i have tried everything as well. I tried changing the oil, sparks, checked all the fluids and mine only ticks like that at idle too. As soon as I touch the gas it's gone. The car runs fine. But that ticking at a red light, is so annoying.
