@imacceptingbut Deer do not make good pets. They can be domesticated as livestock, but they're not the kind of animal that does well taking the place of the family dog.
@AtarahDerek You are wrong, I have a pet deer and he is the sweetest ever! Go look up small pets on Animal world.com. You'll see what I mean. Go to the 'Small Mammal' tab, and scroll down 'till you see deer then click and read the WHOLE description!...
@AtarahDerek why not, dears would be a much better pet than a dog. I also prefer social non meat eating animals. I don't have any pets though but they would make much better pets.
im a hunter but strangely i love deer more than any other animal, its kind of an intimate relationship with hunter and prey....this melted my heart away:) i hope they grew up happy
Beautiful video... we have deer who visit our front yard. They nibble the clover in the grass and eat a few plants. We use no pesticides. I watch them from a distance. Habituation and imprinting would lessen their chances for survival in the wild.
No it isn't. It is most common for them to have twins but they also have singles, triplets, quads and rarely, five at a time. Multiples are more likely to occur when using artificial insemination, just as in humans (Jon and Kate Plus 8) :-)
awesome video...what is the mother seem to be chewing on...it looked like slimy fluids from giving birth that she was eating...is that true? if so, is there some sort of nutritional value to it?
Yes, Vette is eating the afterbirth. In the wild this is done so no trace is left behind for predators to find but it is, indeed, also packed with protien and other nutritious things that are beneficial to her.
that's awesome...i just graduated with a bachelors in environmental science, but I'm going to grad school to get my masters in wildlife and fisheries science to focus more on the whitetail deer...i'm looking to be a deer biologist for a deer hunting ranch...or on a statewide level if I get my phd...i just got an internship doing deer research in texas and will be moving there on monday, i can't wait to get hands on experience with the deer there, keep up the good work
The placenta also boosts her prolactin levels which helps he produce milk and helps her maternal behavior levels as well, if she doesn't she might reject the fawns.
this is a rare occasion. 3 babies. its not often you see a mother with 3 newborn fawns. good job catching it on tape. did she know you were there watching her. if so she didn't look like she was paying any attention to anything but the babies which is normal.
Well this is a video of one of our does and they are often pregnant with triplets, sometimes quads and we have even heard of mother with five fawns! She did know that we were taping her but she's really friendly and didn't mind. The babies are grown now and are all very tame and healthy :-)
Why are you breeding animals only to be killed for sports and trophy?. There is nothing more despicable the people who destroy innocent life for self gratification. You can live yourself doing this?
Please learn how to read. "Not a single deer in this video will ever be hunted because their genetics are superior enough to be sold as breeding stock." Do you harass people who raise fish and chickens and cows to be eaten? I'm sure you're 100% vegan, right?
When you say Vette is yours, do you mean she's a pet or just that she stays in your area?

How quickly they walk?
How quickly they run?

Venison is great. People should consume more deer, leads to less obesity
and lowers blood pressure and chlorestrol.
We consume too much meat because we never see the cut little creature that
gives up life to populate our frying pans and roasters.
Some need to be put on a reality diet.

Not with deer, actually. Twins and triplets are commonplace.
starryeyedcowgrl 2 years ago
Oh, thanks. I was just wondering because I own horses. It is extremley rare for them to have twins, let alone having both twins to live!

Actually not a single deer in this video will ever be hunted because their genetics are superior enough to be sold as breeding stock.
