A good question. The cursor icon is configurable, like most things in GIMP. Personally I like the setup where only brush outlines are shown. Here I used an arrow though, to better show the pointer position and tool type.
Unfortunately for you, I'm not doing this to impress people.
If you want to draw with a mouse and curves, try out InkScape. Personally I'd draw freehand though, with 4x - 8x zoom to smooth out the cursor inaccuracy.
Sorry, I am an asshole. I was prolly drunk when I posted that. I was very angry and confused at the time about GIMP and other digital media. As it happens I bought a wacom intuos 4 and used the GIMP and still do as well as purchasing photoshop cs4. I am sorry for my comment and really regret it. I was a little upset that there were no good tutorials for layers and what not. I appreciate that you even posted this video and hope to see more from you.
@blindbraille good to see people having the guts to apologize for their mistakes. Ah the wisdom we share sometimes on the internet after having a couple beers too many. Happens to all i'd guess :)
@jolt998 Hey bro, I used the following settings with the ink-tool:
Ink (Mode: Normal / Opacity: 75,0)
Adjustment (Size: 2,0 / Angle: 0,0)
Sensitivity (Size: 1,0 / Tilt: 0,4 / Speed: 0,9)
Type (Circle, symmetric (center))
If you're using a mouse, I'd recommend lowering the opacity a bit - maybe down to 30.0. Can also try dropping the mouse sensitivity some, since the default tends to be too fast for drawing.

I'm curious,when using GIMP do you always see the mouse arrow like that?
I would prefer just a small dot.

@Cherppow how do u get to change the sensitivity and type i cant find where to change that and i use a genius gpen 4500 tablet

@jolt998
They're on the tool options right below the "Adjustment" section. But they're almost same as defaults here, so changing them makes little difference.
See my latest video for even more details on the subject.

Why do people think they can speak for everybody else? Why do you think everybody else wants to see people draw with a mouse and beezer curves?
