  • A whole 10 minutes dedicated to a Fairburn - bravo! 5* me thinks. Lovin her on the freight.

  • Unfortunately she has returned to the Lakeside and haverthwaite now, but I got the impression the owner was impressed with the visit. Maybe he'll let her come here again!

  • lol i figured after i watched it a few times it was the holes, nevermind, wishful thinkin =(

  • Why has 42085 got TPWS?

  • I wouldn't have known it had! No reason for it that I know of.

  • That's an AWS indicator above the cab window. i think that row of lights at the top is daylight through ventilation holes.

  • i see good ole mick pickering firing at 2:40. and you got on the footplate! a lovely loco, wish i was able to attend. and you were in the wagons! you are a lucky chap

  • Charters are expensive, but there are perks to be had.

  • AMAZING STUFF!

  • Thanks

  • Great footage. what was this charter all about?

  • The southern lads who organised it felt an affinity with the locomotive because she was built at Brighton. It was a last chance before she returns north to the Lakeside and Haverthwaite.

  • Shame. It will be sad to see her go.

  • lovely footage from a brilliant loco get the loco on the NYMR?

  • no. gc is the only railway it will visit other than the lakeside haverthwaite for until the owner sells it to someone else or stops being a stubborn moron

  • An astonishing comment! If Steve wishes to keep HIS loco at the Lakeside and Haverthwaite then that is up to him. I am just pleased there are such people out there from whose sacrifices we derive such enjoyment.

  • Stubborn moron? I think we ought to be grateful to any loco owner. How many Fairburns would there be left without the L&HR two? um... none, I make it.

  • yeah, but it would be nice if they could share the only two fairburns in preservation with other railways which are more accessible than the L&HR which is miles away in the north and not easily accessible by people with no car

  • Thanks.

Don't think there is much chance of that.

  • i'm sorry, its just after having 2 cab rides in as many weeks in that thing i love it and want it to stay at loughboro for ever!

  • Remind me, if I ever buy and restore a loco, never to allow you on the footplate?

  • why not? have i done something wrong?

  • No, but I wouldn't want to be thought of as a stubborn moron for choosing where to base my loco...

  • well i'm not against basing a loco mainly in one place, but i am against it only being available to see in one place. if you want somewhere to mainly base your loco i have nothing wrong with that, but if you own it for 40 odd years and don't let it go away once like charles maher has done then not many people have the opportunity to see it

  • Excellent line side and on board footage superbly produced every time....5* Bob

  • Thanks Bob.

Just wish I could have shown more of the on board footage, but there wasn't the time.

  • Sounds like another project in the making Mike...Bob

  • Generally I don't like putting footplate footage on the web in case some jobsworth takes exception to any of it and causes trouble for the crew.

  • Fair comment...Bob

  • excellent-5*****

  • Thanks

  • whens it due back to lakeside?

  • Not sure; a matter of weeks.

  • Great Freight

  • Yes the current GCR mixed freight is superb.

  • Yes it is and it's great to see a Fairburn preserved too.

  • Loved the footage. Thanks for posting.

  • Thanks
