Mine has kept "working", or rather at least powers on. I've driven everything from Trucks, Rigids to courier vans and while this will get me in the general direction i NEVER trust it 100%. The worst thing its done is take me driving in a circle which i thought was pretty comical - for about 10 minutes - then i stopped laughing. I can understand maps not being accurate, but crappy software is inexcusable in this day and age. Thankfully it hasn't taken me under any low bridges yet - touch wood.
I would have to agree with you! I owned a Garmin Nuvi 200 because I couldn't afford a GPS for trucks and the same thing happened. It took a dump on me too! At first, I thought it was because I needed to update the software so I paid and downloaded the update but it made no difference whatsoever!
I am done with Garmin and have gone with other brands. I realize that there really is no perfect GPS system for trucks but at least I know other brands won't black out on me when I need it the most!
i have this same unit... and its my best friend.. ive used it for close to two years and the odometer reads 230000 miles on it.. problem free for me so far.
Man i don't think you have a GARMIN 465T it's only normal your getting all F$#K Up. Buy a real 465T I have one now for 3 years now with no problems..And love it i use it with a rand mcnally motor carrier road atlas..Tell you what i have buddy who bought a model 700 rand mcnally and tested it in his pick up with a flammable hazmat load and guess what it brought him far into woods in new brunswick...
I BOUGHT 1 and i dont know if i should return it or not...it costed me 600 dolares here in australia twice as much of a good tomtom and what i find it weird its that the bastard doesnt speaks like doesnt gives me voice intrucions and the first time i turned on it couldnt give me gps signal than i restored to factory setings and naw i have signal but no voice instrucions.doest it suposes to have voice instrucions or only visual???please someone let me know.
we use the rand mcnalley one and with any thing we use the quallcom and write em down and as always we got a atlas in the sleeper juuust incase both take a dump
ok I have the same one , when I run 48 states I always look at the QUALCOMM’s and compare the address with the gps and the atlas map , as for me the one bad thing I can say is that gps is very delicate, it breaks easy I called Garmin myself and complained about it, u can change the routes and everything , with this gps I have yet to get lost.
And also u have to upgrade it , I don’t think all gps r perfect , but I rather have it the not have it .
Riverhead, NY, Long Island, all 5 boroughs, and upstate. Have been further than Washingtonville. As time goes by, I'll will pick up more tricks as I make mistakes and add on for everyone.
I just bought one, will let you know soon how it treats me. I live on the Island and at time have to travel to Manhattan so we'll see. I also just updated my maps to 2011.
So far so good, It kept me off the NO TRUCK ALLOWED Rd's which the signs actually say no trucks allowed but I haven't tested it in the city yet, will do soon. The only thing is, is that when I programmed in my bus dimensions, it kept me off roads that I didn't have to avoid. You know, sometimes when it says no trucks allowed on this road & U see trucks going up & down the road anyway b/c it's really not that important. So what I had to do is change the actual weight of 20,000 lbs to 4000lbs.
I am going to upgrade my old 2004 Streets and Trips soon; $40 at BestBuy. I can find everyplace in America, with my laptop and Streets and Trips. You got a $9 Rand McNally Atlas on the front seat too?? Crosscheck your route when you PreTrip. Write down your route on your notepad. To hell with all these $400 'made in China' crap devices. BUY A FREAKIN' local map for $4. hahaha. I've got a stack of 10 yr. old city maps, and they usually work. Know where you are going before you go in.. get a life
@DedHedEddie I hear ya! Haven't used the GPS for months...It's just as easy to take down the qualcom directions or route yourself the way you feel best...It takes no more than usually 15 minutes to write down where you're going and another 5 minutes to tkae a good hard look at the atlas. Following the GPS in winter time could be dangerous if you dont know better than to stay on the main roads if at all possible, agree?
@marki61422 dude, this thing has a bulit in battery that supposedly has 4 hrs battery life...Doesn't seem like you can open this one up..Nonetheless, thought this thing really sucked

I'm thinking of getting a trucker GPS but really skeptical of paying 300 400bucks and have the damn thing run me into a residential area or into a low bridge. think I'll stick with the qualcomm directions for a little while longer til i hear about a 100% accurate truck GPS. also the gps on my android phone is good for getting me close to the right area but not always right at the front...but close.
THANKS FOR THE HEADS UP. STAY SAFE OUT THERE. FTE
