Really, these kids don´t need to know the outside world; to all accounts, they already have got the best they could possibly get in any circumstances.
It is much better that they spend their time playing these games than playing stupid games on Internet game consoles or doing drugs, as is fashion around here!

@jsnovais1000 those kids get yelled at like theyre at a military bootcamp for 8 hours a day if not more training.. then they arent allowed to do anything except eat and sleep.

I don't think that they being yelled at or punished, at least constantly.. participating in mass games in front of Kim Jong Il is a great honor to Korean child by itself. Many of them ask organizers for participation grant but not every schoolboy is allowed to (passes exams). Don't forget thoughts and values there somewhat different from western world. and vice versa, many western doings may seem pointless or vulgar to communists.

It is damn hard to accept it, but you are right.
Korean children make me envy.
Freedom does not always best option - sometimes you or me simply do not have will or knowledge to make good decisions. Society influences you and if 99% your classmates watch porn and play online all night long chances that YOU will be smarter are not big. I don’t like everyday Koreans life, but I definitely prefer my kids lived first 8-12 years of lives this way rather than nowaday "healthy" style.

people of the, so called, 'capitalist nation' tend to see this as kinda sad, being governed by a nation which doesn't allow much freedom and see this as kinda robotic.
But well, during the east germany and west german united, some of the east germans kinda miss the old socialist regime because they are guaranteed a place for work even though it is hard time.

The government is only as good as the people who run it. Communism can be good as long as it's run by the right people. Neither capitalism nor communism is good but only because of the people who run them.

Yeah, and even democracy can and has gone wrong in the past because of the people in charge.
Anyways if communism ever fell in NK and they got to host the Olympics that would be one hell of a show.
