@CornishFairy2 I think it was between him and Dermot O'Leary and Simon is all about getting Brits recognised in the USA. Louis said in an interview that Steve was better suited for the US version because he has more of an LA look about him that will get people to watch the show and Dermot is more suited to US audiences. I'm glad that they didn't take away Dermot though, he has more heart than Steve I think.

Whether these shows are commercially wasting society or not, you can't deny that these shows find talent that would otherwise go unnoticed. Some people actually enjoy and benefit from this stuff, no one died and made any of you the moral high figures to modern society, people like stacey, and the young girl have an opportunity to show their talent. Whether these shows are commercially wasting society or not, you can't deny that these shows find talent that would otherwise go unnoticed. Some people actually enjoy and benefit from this stuff, no one died and made any of you the moral high figures to modern society, people like stacey, and the young girl have an opportunity to show their talent. Yeah, the sob stories are maybe unnecessary but this is television and the truth is if there was no backstory to the contestants much of the viewers
