This engine is totally trashed now. It got stuck in a sink hole. The entire cab was underwater.

Is 60 one of the newer Pierce Arrow XT's? If so I'm sure the department isn't too upset about it since they've had sh*tloads of major electrical issues with them. I love Pierce but I have to say that Seagraves fit LA City much better.

It's been restored and is back in service. It has huge mud-flaps, large off-road tires and a phat suspension; sort of like the Grave Digger's suspension. Seriously!

well, for California, at least 18 yrs of age, California License to work, Im working on getting my bachlers degree. LISTEN, YOU REALLY GOTTA GET YOUR EMT CERTIFICATION DEGREE. most important. the better degrees you get then, you'll be the 1st person they pick to join LAFD. Me, i live in Richmond California, not to far from Los Angeles. but im moving there by the end of this summer for school. What u should do if your not old ebough. Generally most departments require you to be 18 years old or over (Though some require you to be 21 and over, though rare), have a HS diploma and usually EMT-1/D. Generally you do not need a college degree for line positions such as FF, Engineer & Captain. The best route to take is find a local JC and enroll in their fire academy for your FF-1 and then obtain your EMT-1/D and after completeing that if you enroll in EMT-P (Paramedic) training you can pretty much be hired anywhere.

good :) me im 25 finishing up a reg science degree and ill be starting my fire credentials to become a firefighter soon hopefull in the next 2-3 years.

but i dont know if they are really needed i hear that they accept ppl with no fire experence at all.

and well i have some cos i worked for 6 months as a voluntier firefighter on a cruise ship as well as a steward so i have a background.

The headphones can be used for 2 things. For one listening to the dispatch or whatever freq they are monitoring since the engine/siren is so loud. Also the crew can talk to each other via the headsets.
