  • Why is it so hard for his fans and critics to admit that he just can't write songs like he used to anymore? That doesn't make him a bad person. Doesn't mean he should retire and hang up his Telecaster. It happens to ALL songwriters. Neil Young. Bob Dylan. Joni Mitchell. Leonard Cohen. Paul Simon. ALL of them don't have the songwriting ability they had when they were younger. For whatever reason. I think the hunger goes away. They become millionaires and famous and it changes them. Irrecoverably.

  • Thank God there's still Bruce to take care of us! Amazing song! Xx

  • you take are of us

  • :megusta:

  • the CALVARY stayed home? really, Bruce?

  • He puts out this message about jobs leaving the US and he is Jack of all trades and they are ruining my hometown,,,BUT, go on Ebay and Walmart and you will find ''Wrecking Ball'' CD is also ''MADE IN MEXICO'' Practice what you preach Bruce.

  • @ultrabrougham thats not his fault; thats shitty capitalism for you jack.

at least he has feelings for the working man or woman.

  • This one-percent piece-of-shit does not speak for the working class. Release your tax returns, you royalist.

  • This is one of the three good songs on his new cd. What happened to Bruce? This is the best of the songs on the cd but isn't like Born to run or Atlantic City or any really famous one.

  • How I wish this were true Sir.

  • @bluesboy25000 every goverment looks after their own,

  • I'm a big Bruce-Fan. You can hear it :

    Thirsty man band - roamer

  • @TheMagicRat933 Thumb Up

  • Immer cool ,den Boss zu hören....

  • Album sold out first hour at our store. I have on I pod but always like my hard copy.

  • Bruce is god

  • So excited for the new album tomorrow! Thumbs up!

  • Quel putain de classe, ce Boss !!! VOILA L'AMERIQUE QUE NOUS AIMONS !!! Elle s'appelle Springsteen.

    ...

What a fucking class, Boss ! THIS IS AMERICA WE LOVE ! Her name Springsteen.

  • I don't care if you're Republican, Democrat, Independent, or whatever if you don't think this song is badass then you have no soul. Bruce is the man!

  • We take care of what's our own - and anyone else gets screwed!

  • Im in love with this song!

  • As James Howard Kunstler said it this week - "America is starting to remind me of Bette Davis in the horror movie classic What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? America is losing its grip on reality. America is acting like an elderly strumpet in too much pancake makeup performing a song-and-dance on the beach while its kinfolk lie dying in the sand."...

  • Bruce had to send the message 25 years later again. Hopefully he won't have to do it again when he's in his 80's for us. Great song Boss.

  • After many many listenings I'll say this: Like the last 3 albums there are two or four pretty good songs on this new album. But I hope and count on it to be better live.

A lot of it is boring musically. THIS IS WHAT WE NEED: Guitar from Nils and that r&r sound wall that we know from fx youngstown.

  • CLARENCE!

  • Please come to Chicago!!!

  • Awesome, awesome, awesome... true genius... and the album is top notch...!!!

  • Fantastic!! I LOVE Bruce!

  • schön wieder was von Bruce zu hören ,coole mukke

  • It's easy to see why neo-cons who are fans of his were surprised that he came out in support of two Democrats running for President. I could tell from his lyrics and themes of his songs from the start of his career that was a Republican. It made perfect sense, if you weren't listening, that is.

  • No, we don't take of our own.

  • @Swatieson Kind of the point of the song there. Same idea as "Born in the USA," a continuation, an update for 2012. Just as we would send our men off to die in Vietnam and let them suffer on their return, we let the poor and those suffering from disasters like Katrina and our new Depression go without aid.

  • @Swatieson Exactly. I love the sarcasm through the whole song.

  • @Swatieson its his pseudo populism

  • pre- ordered this album and it came two days early. listened to it 3 times already. not one bad song. also worth buying in cd format for the sleeve notes. it contains the eulogy to clarence clemons.

  • I love @ 1.11 in when the drums kick in...lifts the entire piece...smashing stuff....roll on Dublin in July...both shows of course

  • As a Louisiana resident..I apprecitate the message that Bruce is conveying...Superdome after Katrina was a smear and disgrace to the USA...We rose up and my SAINTS won the Superbowl...PeaceCajun OUT@@

  • Comment removed

  • Bruce in glorious sarcasm mode

  • We take care of our own.. wherever capitalism is flown, we take care of 1% of our own....

  • @kevingavalis wish everyone knew that

  • i dont usually like bruce but i love this song

  • aww this song makes me sad.

  • "Always something there to remind me" playing in the background?

  • Got tickets for Sunderland, Manchester, and the second night in Dublin.

    Cannot wait...

  • june 10...FLORENCE....i'm waiting for you bruce !!

  • Problem with opinions is some of the robber barons have access to you tube.

  • thumbs up if ur goin to see him in dublin this JULY :D

  • Incredible song.

  • But that is the whole point... The US, the richest country in the world lets it homless people live in tents in the woods in winter, forcloses peoples homes turning them out in the street, denies the poor healthcare, and continually rewards the 0.0001% with even more tax breaks.

    Do you guys do Irony?

  • @murdockp1

In a couple years America is gonna be a Third World Country.. America is not the richest country. Where are you getting your information!?

  • We rip our own....just ask the "boss" and his dumped wife and $56 mill' a year sellin' stupid ass nitwit songs a child could write, with a little help. He sings these lying fantasy to big old rum dumbs who have no excuse. Flattering the sheeple with more bullshit. This asshole is not my boss. God help him. I read these posts, "I rock with the young ones..."You old dumbass.:)Act your fucking age and quit conning yourself. The young do not need another dumbass like you. Be an elder. Not a fool.

  • @distressed7 Yeah, you are distressed all right. Mad at the world are ya? Springsteen is the best writer of music still breathing today. You want to hold it against the man for amassing enormous wealth ? He's earned it. You're just a sad, mad at the world douchbag. Do the world a favor and go jump of a bridge and splatter on the ground where you belong.

    Sing it Boss...!!!!!

  • @distressed7 Dude you are a clear example of opions are like ''ASSHOLES'' everyones got one and they usually Stink!!!!!

  • We don't take care of our own. Whites don't even take care of whites. Blacks don't take care of Blacks. Immigrants come here and get dollar signs in their freaked out eyes and they become predators even upon their own families when they come in later in the game. This whole fuckin' nation is one big rip off of a fairy tale. We use our young like bottles of whiskey, and pour their blood into set up freakin' wars for more blood money. We toss our old into the scrap mill nursing homes. Land of Evil

  • Fallon show awesome.

  • Always exciting to hear a new song from da Boss and get that shiver....

  • da Boss of rocknroll for president!

  • Please no more Obama!!!! The Republican candidates make me ill too. Let's vote for no President. It's a useless position now anyway. We can't get anything done. Anarchy! Anarchy!

Anarchy! Oh... I love Bruce's new album.

  • Gonna see Bruce on latenight to tonight.

  • @richard72183 I was just at the jimmy fallon taping!!! it was a GREAT SHOW!!!!

  • @americanGTA just saw it

  • @Tanningedu just watch it on Fallon-incredible!

  • P I N K P O P 2 0 1 2

  • Thumbs up if you've got tickets to see him on the Wrecking Ball tour!

  • @TheMagicRat933 I have got it!! I'm Italian and i love his music!!

  • @TheMagicRat933 yeahhh so excited!!! :D

  • @TheMagicRat933 we bult this city in rock and roll and he .......

  • sounds like the hook was pinched from the life of riley by the lightning seeds

  • @69dickspanner

I would hazard a guess that Bruce has never even heard of the Lightening Seeds let alone stole a hook from them..I do agree with you that it sounds similar...still great though.

  • @johnnyM809 That's funny as soon as I heard this I thought of Wishing by Flock of Seagulls. I'm sure Bruce hasn't heard of them either!! Either way I don't care, as a big Bruce fan I love the fact that he s kept being creative over all these years. off to see him 4 times on this tour, can't wait.

  • Springsteen supports the Marxist human wrecking ball in the White House so it is no surprise his new album is called "Wrecking Ball." Hope and change has turned into hopelessness, tyranny, joblessness, pets being put down at animal control due to financial hardship, and many more instances of our not taking care of our own. 4 more years of this and we will be looking like Greece!

  • The BOSS !! not just Music !

  • you have a sacred heart Bruce....thank you for keeping the flame burning.....please...Come to Australia...our leaders are crazy...egocentrics...we need some truth and grass roots xx

  • Does the word spam mean anything when u try to get people to check out your band.

  • Don't know who could possibly follow Springsteen. Desperately looking for a younger band to step up to the challenge. Maybe the black keys. Actually, check out Casper & The Howling, they owe a lot to the boss.

  • In one song, Bruce has captured the heart of what makes this country great, but we've lost it in our self-centered worlds. The question might be? "Who will lead us there?

  • Once again no one can call it like it is better than this man.

  • @DavidJYarrow Well, if "Wherever this flag's flown, We take care of our own" was not intended to be jingoistic, it soon will be. There's nothing more certain than it'll be purloined by the jingoists/nationalists/patriots, just as "Born in the USA" has been.

  • Cleverly written but jingoistic tripe nonetheless!

  • @TheEasel, if you think this is jingoistic you really are not listening

  • @DavidJYarrow

of course Bruce never meant it to be jingoistic, but stupid people can abuse it and turn it into the oppsite meaning, as intended.

  • This sounds kind of like a commercial version of Arcade Fire.

  • When you choose a common sense strategy in life that has the same fairly chosen values for all, others are likely to treat you ok since they see themselves, their true identity reflected in you. But even hidden maliciousness, even toward outsiders, arises maliciousness toward yourself.

  • Oslo 21 JULY @ VALLE HOVIN. See you there !!

  • we take care of our own????Bruce you sell out bustard,I use to like you

  • @mmilos11 he kinda means the opposite ..

  • @Bruuutal1 yes, I see him sharing his millions with people in need!! He does ,what he used to sing against!

  • @mmilos11 Turn your back on him that's fine, probably better to not have backstabbing fans anyway. Bastard*<--spell check

  • Comment removed

  • I can;t wait to see him in concert!

  • the other thing is needed was the edge, the rage of EStreet and the wailing guitar of rage, not the handclaps and synth sound.

  • The Flag that should have been in this video is the American Stars and Stipes, it would have brought the emphasis home that we need to take care of our own before we can take care of others

  • The BOSS has it right what the fuck is wrong with the rest of you? Alone you acomplish nothing together we are strong.

  • Santorum 2012!!! Fuck socialism!!!

  • The Boss is dead...Picture some 70 year old man singing "Born to Run" for a senior home karaoke night, 15 minutes after the staff handed out the medication.

"We take care of our own"? It might come off as more believable if you didn't sound like you have trouble taking care of yourself.

Is he supposed to be Woody Guthrie of #Occupy. Remember this weak, warbling, directionless voice and vapid lyrics when you think of Occupy. I hope they make this the official anthem.

    Wasted time in the studio.

  • Thanks to this terrible tune, I'm going to have to listen to an hour and a half (at least) of some industrial strength palate cleanser. Probably some AC/DC.

  • @TheUgstick Good save the good music for people with soul. Enjoy your head banging.

  • @birdenislight

Soul??? He rushed this garbage through to production to CAPITALIZE off a movement that's anti-capitalist! (IRONY ALERT)

Just look at all the political comments in this section and it's easy to see why he did it. If you characterize this cheaply written song as soulful, then we're never going to agree on music. The Emperor has no clothes, but you're either too blinded by your own sense of self righteousness or afraid what everyone else thinks to recognize it.

  • The cavalry has been the subject of funding cuts on the one hand and a Senate filibuster on the other. We will have to help ourselves by electing people who dare to govern.

  • This is ironic, since how corrupt and failing the US government is.

  • It's Cavalry not Calvary. The first are mounted troops on horseback, or helos if you're talking about the modern military. The second is the name of the hill Jesus was crucified on.

  • MAGNIFICENT, the Boss!!! ;)

  • Dylan is great no doubt. I think we can both agree that these two artists continue to write fantastic music over decades. I am a huge fan of both. Steve Earl and John Prine are also poetic masters.

  • Please Bruce, save us from today's terrible music!!!

  • THE BOSS !!!!! What else needs to be said ?

  • @richard72183 You speak the truth man. Springsteen's live shows are also a million times better than Dylan's, been absolutely blown away every time I've caught the E Street Band, and as disappointed by Dylan's live shows. You should check out Casper & The Howling, they owe a lot to the boss

  • Dylan doesn't come close to Bruce. He is a great poet but very limited in subject matter. Bruce has the ability to weave great lyrics into rock country folk hip hop and stadium anthems. Dylan is limited to folk. And I love Dylan by the way. Just the truth.

  • @richard72183 Although I disagree with that opinion, I really respect it. I understand what your saying but I just feel like Dylan was just more influential. Dylan left a bigger footprint than Springsteen, at least within the music industry that is.

  • PIU LO ASCOLTO , E' PIU' LO TROVO DIVINAMENTE FANTANTISCO!!!!!!!! .IO LO SO CHE BRUCE, NON SI SMENTIRA MAI, PERCHE' E' SEMPLICIAMENTE UNICO. SE HO BISOGNO DI ENERGIA POSITIVA ,SO COSA FARE . BI BASTA ASCOLTARE UN TUO BRANO!!!!!! GRAZIE BRUCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Distressed is a spammer. He sits all day and puts down successful musicians on you tube. You can't take him serious. I have seen him on many posts. Only intelligent good hearted people like Bruce. Assholes would never like him because he reminds them of how pathetic they are.

  • Cant wait for March 6th..

  • Well done Bruce! Tell that to buffett!

  • To hell with all fat Wall Street bankers and corrupt politicians who just care for their own, while the rest of us is bleeding!!

    WELL DONE BRUCE!!!

  • Bruce I beg you to come to Saint Louis, MO. Having lost my wife and mother being 55 and still kicking with the young people that love you here, could we pay for your airplane, jet, to land here and arrange a great venue? Not that we could pay for it but we will do whatever it takes whatever with the radio stations and the food we would feed you in addition to the love of some of us seeing you in the past.

  • Agreed Rusty. You can't take these clowns seriously. Remember the world is full of stupid people who don't understand artists. Bruce empathizes well with many people He can sing about aids when he doesn't have it. Murder when he would never hurt anybody. Watching his father work and go through unemployment were huge influences for Bruce.

  • If anyone wants to hear other arts of the album backstreets has some clips.

  • This song refocuses collective experiences of your up bringing and reminds you of what is important. No matter how the chips may fall politically , keep in mind that if we are to have a civilized country we are to take care of our neighbors. To what extent is a controversy . It should be instinctive in the hills and hollars of Tennessee to talk to your neighbor who's marriage is in trouble and the kids see fighting and mom and dad with no job. Lose your pride and get in touch with neighbors.

  • Bruce worked his ass off to become a musician. He even starved in the early days. Even though he enjoys what he does he works his ass off. He works harder than I do that's for sure.

  • Can any fan .of Bruce name any real Job Bruce has work,Singing cliches about the working class don count. Can a fan name any battlefield in Nam Bruce fought on ? Bruce being Like a soldier in the winters night for Bobby Muller dont count..As dedicated fans you should follow ol Bruce in a good way as to'' take care of your own'' instead of wasting your money on this Poser who as a rich man exploits the underclass. No doubt someone always needs help on the heating bill. Whats your reality?

  • @Grunt6869 what crap...Bruce didn't get drafted because of a motorbike accident you dunderhead.Tell me how does he exploit the 'underclass' - what utter rubbish. This is Russell from the UK, now living in Vietnam, have seen him over 20 times, and he never disappoints..

  • I saw today Bruce will "stay on the sidelines" of the coming election. He believes Obama hasn't lived up to what he promised America!! Good choice Bruce!! Just sing baby!!Just sing!!

  • I don't really see the point in blaming Bruce. I think his career speaks for him, always turning from big production to garage recorder music...You wanna protest? Find your way. This is his way, and if someone can find inspiration with his music (as millions have done) that's good...blame your politicians, economsit, bankers, oil spillers, not Bruce...

  • What does the woman's t-shirt say at 3:46 in the video??

  • I have a friend in Paris! The sound is fantastic. Reminds me of how I felt about the magic album. The lyrics are cutting and angry with most an upbeat sound. And some surprises too.

  • Glad to see the song finally hit the million mark!

  • Richard72183-how did you hear the other new songs?

  • New album is fantastic! So far this depression is my favourite.

  • That was terrible. I don't think he rhymed foam. But he rhymed about everything else.

    Yep...we really are Socialists now...

  • Ctilchen best comment yet. Someone finally gets this song.

  • Oh fuck yeah, those Telecasters...... Love you Bruce, and looking forward to see you in Norway this summer:-) I'm sorry you lost your good friend and a fellow great musician, Clarence "Big Man", and I'm glad you wont try to replace him. There's no way anyone can take or fill his place, so I'm glad you leave us with the great memories. Kudos tou you and your band:-) And by the way...... Lilyhammer!!!:-)

  • Bruce springsteen is my hero :)

  • Distressed... Envy is ugly

  • @richard72183 Envy him? Holy shit? He's a glorified crooner from a cheezy lounge singer line up. Seriously. His music sucks. I am sorry. It is in the end, pitiable. Rich...maybe you guys should just get it over with and come out of the closet. That's your man! LOL~

  • That's nice. But did the moguls take care of Whitney Houston? How many stitches have you got in your Brucey head? "Oh, don't talk about Bruce that way!" Dude! Please, you are no protest warrior. You are no loser or a night cruiser. You are another star. Another self absorbed star. You're another plank in the star studded Luciferian shack of Amerika. Tell your buddies in Hollywood, the game is up. We do not take care of our own. Your crowd sure does, but it does not include me, and millions more.

  • @distressed7 you totally missed the point

  • @brabon1 Oh no! I am right on target. Dude. This little whore sings this song at the Grammy bullshit. After the latest Hollywood human sacrifice in the water of a tub. The booze parties. The pedophile directors and producers and all the rest your American bullshit and this cunt whore sings this bullshit. He's a whore. Just another music whore. Your icon. Your boy. Brucey! All American Lick # ???

  • @distressed7 zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • @brabon1 Yeh, I understand this guy does put me to sleep to. God? Is this all you do is watch this turd? I can tell by the speed that you answer my post that you are a very imbalanced sleepwalker. Like most of Amerika. No wonder you're one of the lowest on the scale of literacy and science. You're busy flattering yourselves with circus acts like this clowns. What a crock of All Amerikan shit. All of this. Your poor dumb kids. Dumbass parents who love their stupid mistakes and miseries. Sad.

  • @distressed7 if you arent american, why do you care about this song?

and i have responded to you during normal hours

  • @brabon1 Gee dude? I thought you were rock n' roll? What are normal hours? :)) So typical of another current "Amerikan" rocker. Fasciste' drones and helmet bees with the music they destroyed. By the way child. I am a Viet Era vet, and revolutionary "nuts". All this Americana this and Americana that:)) Why can't he go one way or another? I will tell you why? He's a rock politician possibly waiting for his golden op'. The guy is very much a marketing major. No guts. Just mercantilism.

  • Man sings from the heart. Sex love and drugs sell the most but Bruce always sings what comes to his heart. Thanx Bruce.

  • the man is magnificent another classic anthem from the boss i'm sure wrecking ball the album will be be suitably mega gonna see him in july at the rds dublin

  • There is not a single American politician now on the scene who could legitimately and honestly claim this as his entrance music to a rally of supporters. Unless those supporters were bankers. And that is very sad.

  • The older he gets the more he looks like Robert De Niro. :)

  • We really need this music to lift us up. The lyrics in this song are great and need to be used to inspire people to engage and get involved in taking care of AMERICA. The good america, not the GOP america. My Opinion ONLY.

  • @RoxannePauline When the Boss says we take care of our own, he means Obama's White House and the Wall Street Banks who have robbed you of your weatlh, your future and your dignity. We the People need to stand up to this Crony Capitalism. Instead we get We The Sheeple who Occupy and call themselves the 99% trying to destroy capitalism because they are communists.

    Watch: /watch?v=pJVDTA0uHsA&list=FLJCmSPNPHqnvEHyXGqa3OFw&index=2&feature=plpp_video

  • @top20modernrock why dont you fly to crawford and suck bush's dick

  • @brabon1 I see the government run educational system has created another brainwashed, useful idiot.

  • i reallly like the music

  • This should be Obama's Reelection campaign anthem. History will show after 2 terms President Obama will be remebered as onf of the best ever Presidents and that he saved our nation, He svaed us from terrorist and took care of our own...all of us not just one party. Similar to president Lincoln.

  • Mr razor I love this type of stuff but I agree regarding the sessions and Nebraska. And doing other cool stuff as well. Looking forward to another sessions album and would love another folk album. Don't forget this is one song out of many on the album and they are not all like this. There are some pleasant surprises.

  • Dont you love the veiled protest, subtle message of hope and the open defiance?.I love that voice and the sound is just too captivating.

  • Change? He sang about aids, love, war, 911, mass murderers, cars, factories... The man has sang about more subjects than any other artist. That's why his live show can fill stadiums. Because it's got all kinds of emotions. Have you actually ever listened to him... Or are u just another baby who can't handle that he reminds you of what the US should be?

  • @richard72183 I was more referring to the sound and song structure. I would love to hear him do a radical shift like he did with Nebraska and the Pete Seeger album. A low key singer/songwriter album, a country album, a blues album would be interesting. Hell, I bet he even could do a great gospel album if he wanted. His rock oriented albums are getting more and more tedious and repetetive imho.

  • Hasn't he written this song dozens of times by now? He need to change.

  • Yes he was

  • Yes the Foos were great but I guess I lost the meaning of their songs. A lot of stuff about love and breaking up that night. And umm... Some kinda religious strange thingy that in my opinion was well done but meant for shock value which is kinda pretentious.
