It wasn't supposed to be cs2. It's not going to replace 1.6 or CS:S, it was meant as a move into the console scene.
Seriously, why should they bring on 1.6 players to work on an update for a SOURCE game? What input could people from a community that has already disowned the game previously possible have? It's not CS2 it's CS:S 2.
