Funny how the Valkyries are Space Flight-Capable but the animators never put the crews in Oxygen masks until they are in "deep space", as if combat pilots didn't need them in-atmosphere eh?
It is one of the best, and it is also dubbed. However, problem is the only good dub is the Robotech version (which has a slightly altered story), and if you're not comfortable with that you might as well be better off watching the original with subs, because seriously, the other dub is pretty bad.
Vic Mignogna always does an excellent job I freely admit. The problem was with everyone else. Honestly I felt Monica Rial's voice did NOT fit Misa at all (she acted like a whiny young brat rather than a more mature officer with a bit of a temper), the captain was missing his classy Russian accent, and while it's cool that they managed to bring in Mari Iijima for the english dub, her Japanese accent stood out so heavily at parts that it made me cringe. Maybe my problem is I saw Robotech first...
@minisiets Realy? Because I think the AMV video dub is better because it's uncut, and a derect translation (as mush as possiuble), the main character isn't an asshole, and the end could go either way in the romance, unlick Robotech.
@minisiets I dunno, I thought the ADV dub wasn't bad, though i can't help now but imagine Edward Elric as Hikaru. :) Plus they got Mari iijima to reprise her role as Minmay, who was better than Reba West.
@arnyjk I'd disagree. Mari Iijima trying to speak in english often just came out awkward due to the fact that her Japanese accent was HEAVILY noticeable. Her musical performances are superior, but pure dialogue scenes with her were just a train wreck in my opinion.
@minisiets True, but she was also somethng of a "foreign" character anyway, being part chinese and raised in Chinatown. the accent just made the character's "foreignness" more apparent.
@minisiets Robotech has a heavy dumbed down/censored story, and very dumb songs, different musics, characters that talk when not supposed to, heavy use of voice over narration, ....
one of my favorite intros, but the show itself seemed kinda corny at times.
