I have one of those in my basement, I flew it on single channel pulse proportional with a Mattel radio. It wasn't that fast luckily, but I think I managed loops single channel.
You are smart not to add the weight of the the landing gear shown on the plan. Watch out for the grey plastic NOS Cox props if you find one though, they will break if you look at them wrong. A single wire whisker skid might save you a prop now and then.
What controls did you use?..Single aileron and elevator only was typical back in the day. It is performing well...did you weigh it?
it sounds like a gas motor is it?? i dont know nothing about rc planes but i wouldnt mind building one since i have an engin and not enough cash to buy a plane, plus this thing looks sweet and i like the smaller scale stuff so yea thanks for the vid 5/5 :)
@TeeBeeZee im trying to build something like that, but i dont know what i need for electronics. im guessing i need some servos, a receiver, and a transmitter. if you could tell me what i need, that would be great! thanks
im trying to build something like that, but i dont know what i need for electronics. im guessing i need some servos, a receiver, and a transmitter. if you could tell me what i need, that would be great! thanks
Good flight , that's exactly how I learned to fly. I wish I had someone around to teach me but I didn't. Instead I started out with a 0.049 Black Widow and a 2 channel kit and after multiple crashes and flights I kinda got the hang of it. That was many years ago and have since moved on to bigger things.
@sandman503 As popular as the Cox engines always have been, I would bet that they will be in production again in a few years as supplies of the old ones diminish.
@ardvarkkkkk1 i did finaley find my self one, bought 2 off ebay to make one that worked good.... my experience was that there are a few on ebay but most of them have atleast have one broken ear. i bought one that appeared to be in great condidion but the glow plug didnt work. instead of buying a glow plug i bought another engine because i wanted to have some spare parts. the engine found a home on a tiny little control line bi-plane.
@sandman503 Slick little engines aren't they? I have a TD 020 new in the box. Had it about 20 years now. Just never got around to building a plane for it. Those tiny control liners are a blast. Tought my son how to fly with a little bi plane about 30 years ago (yes, I'm an old fucker).
.020, wow, you could pop that out if a pen, cooolest micro, you could probly put that in a parkzone sukhoi! can't find a .020 anywhere, must of gone out of production or something
i think your little stick airplain is a great design, could you build me one because my computer doesent allow me to download your plans for this model. do you know if this model airplain can handle a cox .049, and how is it with the landing gear.
Wow very cool. I finally seen one of these fly. I havent seen this plane since late 80's early 90's maybe. It has been a long time but well done great video!
Very nice ! I'm amazed that you can fly this light birdie without ailerons!
What kind of glue you use to stick the transparent red flm (i don't know what this plastic film is)? and also how do you manage to stretch it so tightly around the wings' structure?? Is it something that shrinks by the effect of heat?
The transparent red film is called ORACOVER light. The glue is at the backside of the red film, protected by another transparent film. You use an 80 °C iron to activate the glue. At temperatures over 120°C the film shrinks. The film is very easy to use.
