I'm going to send this to a University lecturer I know, he's a lone voice in the wilderness in Sydney - only one who recognizes the need for testing to be part of the curricula. He would love this - testing not recognised as relevant by educational institutions in Sydney - although the market demand is high. This is good.
When Steve McQueen tells Twentieth Century Fox that he wants the role of Fire Battalion Chief Mike O'Hallorhan and not the role of architect Doug Robers, Steve McQueen gets the role that he wants -- Paul Newman gets the role he turns down.
You did a great job. My dad was an architect and I asked him what "GPM" meant. Not explained in the movie. Gallons Per Minute. I agree that McQueen owned this movie.
Totally know what you mean about watching O'Halloran (McQueen's character) getting things done. I got the exact same feeling watching that character take charge. Nothing like seeing people who know what they're doing effect results; it's like watching a conductor and orchestra play a symphony just right, really speaks to the power of man to effect change and achieve his visions. Awesome!

When Steve McQueen walked out of the elevator and into the Promenade Room, all of the women there were instantly impregnated.

When there's a fire, Steve McQueen out-ranks everybody in the building. When there's no fire, he just out-ranks everybody, period.

The fire was on the eighty-first floor and went straight up because it knew that Steve McQueen was two floors below it.

Steve McQueen does not climb up ladders to put out a fire, the building bends down to him.

Steve McQueen does not need a fire hose, he puts out fires with his sweat.

When Steve McQueen walks into a burning building, the sprinklers turn on to put HIM out.

Steve McQueen arrived at the fire alone because he drives at speeds that would kill a normal human.

Fire does not burn Steve McQueen, it merely removes unwanted layers of skin.

Great acting by great actors in this movie, but McQueen owned it. He was tremendous in this role.
