I wouldnt even participate in an argument concerning which "version of Sam" was greater. Sam was ALL of what we hear...what we have left of him..he was a smooth crooner ( Copa album), a sweaty gospel singer (Shrine auditorium), and a soulful singing man (Harlem Square)...he was all of that and more...I just appreciate ALL facets of his repetoire...Sam is truly missed and I just hope that wherever he is right now, he can know and feel the fact that legions still miss him in this reality...
I just luv this music! You rarely find good bands like this one nowadays. Lively! an Energizer. I can wake up to this music and start the day in an upbeat manner.
This one is so beautiful... and the sad part is I neva would've known of its existence had it not been for the film "Fun With Dick And Jane" with Jim Carrey and Tea Leoni. Sam has so many classics that even the most intuitive Sam Cooke admirer has to dig in the crates.
I've always loved this song and I've always especially loved Sam's version of it. This entire album is one of my all-time favorites. Thanks for posting this. I have argued with people through the years as to which Sam Cooke "live" album was better, this one or the "Sam Cooke at Harlem Square" album. I must admit that I'm in the minority when I say that this album [Live at the Copa] is better. But that's my story and I'm sticking to it!
@beeshor1 sam as the classy cool guy that he was in the pop world both albums do a great job caputuring his two sides. love bothof them equally but sam roots was gospel and the great 1955 shrine concert with the soul stirrers shows his true soul as gospel singer.i recommend all 3 then u have the complete picture of sam cooke
Fantastic!

@beeshor1 This is a testimony to the man's greatness that 40 plus years later we can argue over which live album was the better masterpiece.

@beeshor1 the great 1955 shrine concert with the soul stirrers is actually the best of sams live recordings.but i love those other two as well.
