They did chop off the intro, but that was what I think are monks chanting/singing Kyrie Eleison. Not a big loss really.
I love the John Arch stuff and I kind of miss that this was the only music video from his era, and that was because this was on the soundtrack. I wonder what a fan with good animation skills could do with some of their other songs such as The Apparition.
Whoever used the track "Kyrie Eleison" for this movie totally missed the boat, 'cause on that same FW album there's a track called "Without a Trace" that's all about a guy who kills a girl and hides her body...how could they miss the connection?? Bizarre.
Right about 2:14 is about the heaviest shit i've heard with a high voice that i enjoy. Love Fates! It's been a while so I've been sitting around looking up Fates Warning on YT for the past hour or so. Thanks for the Up.
Old Fates Warning kick ass, I'm just wondering why a video for this song? It's quite possible the worst on ''The Spectre Within'' (still kicks ass though!) Had they made a video of ''The Apparition'' I'm pretty sure most would discover their own sound that they had. This is a song most 80's metal bands could have written.
from Amazon, listing of the soundtrack: TRACK LISTING: 1. HALLOW'S EVE - Lethal Tendencies 2. SLAYER - Die By The Sword 3. FATES WARNING - Kyrie Eleison 4. SLAYER - Captor Of Sin 5. SLAYER - Evil Has No Boundaries 6. AGENT ORANGE - Fire In The Rain 7. SLAYER - Tormentor 8. WIPERS - Let Me Know 9. BURNING SPEAR - Happy Day Sounds like a goodun...
River's edge was a really good movie and the soundtrack is great. I have the cassette to this day from when it came out! I'd love a copy of it on cd. Great song by FW.
River's Edge is a cool movie. It comes on cable a couple times a year. It's an all metal, heavy on the Slayer soundtrack. The story is good enough and there are some memorable scenes. This is not the best song on the album Spectre Within. My favorites are The Apparition and Traveler In Time.
this song is highly energetic and with´nice progressions! "Fates Warning kick my ass" as I most recently told a friend of mine, as I am highly intoxicated by alcohol.
P.S.- Ionni Skye is looking pretty sexy at 1:30. The River's Edge is a cool movie, even though Keeanu Reeve's acting is dreadful, as always. Any movie with old school Slayer and Fates Warning for the sound track is OK in my book.
I don't understand all the comparisons between Bruce Dickinson and John Arch. Their ranges are similar, but their pronunciation and voice color are quite different. The similarities are only surface level. I grew up on No Exit (Ray Alder), but John Arch rips too. Fates Warning=Metal for smart, discerning people.
Similar story beazfour1...i bought awaken the guardian in '87 just cause i liked the cover art. it too, changed my life forever.
as far as the arch/alder thing goes. can't be fates without either. no awaken. no perfect symmetry. they are staples in american music as far as i'm concerned.
Ray Alder has a good voice, and I'm glad they got someone with his own unique voice instead of a poor-man's John Arch, but all that being said, Arch >>> Alder.
I bought this soundtrack in a bargin bin for 88 cents in 1987. It totaly changed my life. I promptly threw away all my hairband CD's and bnought every Slayer, FW and Hallowes Eve tapw I could find. I never turned back.
The movie was called "Rivers Edge", it was awesome if nothing else for the thrash soundtrack on it.... many slayer songs in the background as well as lethal tendancies from Hallow's Eve
Fates Warning are still one of the best metal bands ever!!
Absolutely. Bought the Arch Solo album out in Austin. Cool. I like that Arch sometimes hits a "sour" note here and there, but it sounds nice and demonic and just works.
I used to think Bruce Dickinson was the best singer ever...then I discovered John Arch and Fates Warning. It was a year ago, and John along with FW completely changed my conception of metal. i do not think it is part of the soundtrack, maybe it was put together by the user, ohh and i agree w/ you about arch being your favorite. i was 14 0r 15 it was 84 or 85 when i baught the album, night on broken..

Not bad, but the drummer is obviously having difficulty keeping up with those tricky Fates Warning riffs. Zonder is miles better.

Agreed. Arch is actually closer to Rob Halford in his vocal quality and enunciation than to Bruce. (ie @ 2:35)

Ray Adler couldn't hold a candle to Arch...
But he had some big shoes to fill....
I didn't like Zonder too much either...
patton303 4 years ago
Arch sounds too much like another Bruce Dickinson. One BD is enough. Ray Adler has his own voice and it's very good. I rate Adler better.

Why is it that when I hear the name Bruce Dickinson anymore all I can think of is cowbell?

But Ray should hold a torch to him and burn him (lol). You didn't like Zonder? You must be a demonhead.
