I walked in a bar i might tell you, The women were all kind of fit...When one took me to the bathroom...I said to myself..OHH shaving cream keep nice n clean, shave everyday and you'll always look keen...
There's a brand new version made by his grandson just in time for the holidays. Just type "Holiday Shaving Cream" into the YouTube search bar. It's also tied to a YouTube video challenge. Novel idea!
Ooh deary me...! As it turns out you gramps and nan where laughing at the same jokes as the "youth of today" is! Whether it is your "ding-a-ling" or "Boys, boys, boys" in the 80s. Guess you can come up with similar examples from the 90s, 00s?

i grew up on these songs now my 7yr old song sings them i am just glad these songs that made holidays at nanas fun and always interesting are being passed on to yet another generation!! <3
I love this! I've heard this song when I was little somewhere. And I just heard 'Pincus The Peddler' on Public Radio and I did a search. He's got a bunch of gems on here!
Haha, when i was like 8/9 i somehow found this song and i used to sing it at home and my mom would ALWAYS get mad at first because she thought i was about to say shit not shaving cream. Now im 15 and i just found this song again, im glad i did. Brings back memories (:
Is the baby that fell out of the window in the third verse an illegitimate child, since he sings about breaking up with his girlfriend in the second verse?
Great & funny song from Benny Bell! Recorded in 1947! This song was later rereleased & made an appearance on Casey Kasem's "American Top 40" as a charted single.
Good job, Benny! The one person who disliked this wonderful ditty has no sense of humor!
Benny Bell fans - don't miss Joel Samberg, Benny Bell's grandson and author of the biography, "Grandpa had a Long One," live on my radio show: Dave's Gone By, Sat, 1/15/11, noon-3pm(ET) on uncradio.com!
The beauty of a song like this is the fact it leaves some to the imagination. SImilar to how you never saw the monsters in horror films. Guess what? You do today and in songs we have to spell everything out for the dumbasses. RIP to simpler times when people were able to think for themselves.
@suspekt29 what are you talking about never saw monsters? Guess what, there were LOTS of 50s movies where you saw monsters lol. And there were also lots of people I'm sure who didn't think for themselves either. In fact, the 50s is well know for its conventionalism and conformity, things like this song were a refreshing kind of break from the "normalcy".
@unfortunatebeam I am not sure what I was thinking of when I posted that comment. I think I was focusing specifically on my generation. Being a product of Generation X and not knowing who the killer was until the end (i.e. Friday the 13th).
This was one of Jack Andrews' favorite songs. He would play it often on his all night radio program, "The Bat Club," on WDJX-FM in Louisville, Kentucky. WJDX was the #1 (Arbitron rated) FM station in the market at the time. Jack passed away on July 29, 2010. He was 48 years old.
Glad it made you smile - it's very old now but it still makes people laugh! Even young people like yourself. Good humour never ages. Laurel & Hardy are a good example.
this is awesome...my dad used to sing this to me when i was small boy

I told him to go eat some Shaving cream!
Be nice and clean!
