  • This goes out to all the old Hepcats who believe in cufflinks and still polishing their Banisters...

  • Loved this! Thanks.

  • another great one.great label too.thanks for posting this one.

  • Damn! This one is so good!

  • @kennyrocksable Thanks, Kenny - the sound definitely hides its actual visual condition. Stressed grooves and WELL played - went nuts at the response I was still able to draw from the high end on this one. Must've been an exceptional pressing.

I plan on transferring "Jumpin' With Symphony Sid" in the near future, as well as "My Baby's Booging" by Amos Milburn, which is "Down The Road A Piece" on steroids! LOVE Amos' pre-chickenshack stuff. :)

  • The infamous eccentric is being infamously eccentric- I haven't been able to get back yet. I'm still working on it!

  • @scottosonic Just don't give up, no matter how frustrating it may be - that type of stash won't come along again in either of our lifetimes.....

  • I love it! As usual your sound quality is scary, too. I got a big-ole stack of these Prestige platters in my last big score. This is the earliest Betty Carter I've heard too, as far as I know.

  • @scottosonic Thanks, guy - I was REALLY surprised at the extreme high end response I was able to get out of this one, as it's been WELL played with stressed grooves & all.

I saw all those insane Prestige promos - unheard of! How'd the latest visit to the infamous eccentric go?

  • I've got a copy of this, but on mine there is no credit to Betty Carter or dedication to Gene Ammons.

  • great 78

  • @Westtoledoguy Thanks, guy - I mean, it's not hard to hear why, but I'm still irked at how expensive (and, thus, out of my reach) King Pleasure's 78's are. If they weren't, I'd have a bushel - what a voice & style!

  • @SwingMan1937 I understnad that

  • @SwingMan1937 - You said it - if I ever had the means, Pleasure would be high on my list to do a 10-inch 78 rpm boxset reissue... (But I'm partial because Red Top/Symphony Sid was one of the first group of actual 78s, not just LP reissues, which I ever got ahold of as a kid :-)

  • Just awesome! Love the label!!

  • @sideshowtink Thanks, Tink - got some amazing Gene Ammons on Prestige that's on the list to be transferred next session. :)
