No, it wasn't me you met. We did it in June 2009. My dog is a cross Collie/Springer Spaniel called Corrie. I hope the dog that you met was all right. This is what I dreaded before going on the walk, what happens if he hurts himself and we are in the middle of nowhere?, thankfully he didn't and we have done many more long walks since then. Next week we are going to Keswick for some hill climbs.
@HazelAgnes48 Thanks for that, it was a collie, that's what made me think it might have been you. Good luck in Keswick, hope your waterproofs are to hand!
Hi i have been thinking about this camera for a while and read loads of reviews. seen hours of video footage yours is the first stills video i have seen now i am sold on the FZ38
its hard to get pics without power lines ... i have a passion 4 chimney shots .. the desolation of a place that was once a home a secure family place ... but powerlines ruin such shots ?
In one shot I liked I painstakingly cloned out all the pylons and wires and cellular phone mast. However to do this for every still is impossible, then there are the video sequences which I wouldn't fancy doing frame bt frame. Thanks for the comment and greeting. Graham
WOW!!! That was an excellent trip down memory lane for me, stunning images and happy memories :-)
Particularly the old ruin between Kinlochleven and Fort William, where a wee lamb nudged my arm begging for a bite of my lunch like a puppy dog, I'll never forget it.
Thanks for your comment, very much appreciated. The small sample of images were part of a larger collection taken during the whole 7 day experience. I made a 30 minute video and had a photobook made of these images to remind me of the pain and pleasures of this trip. Like your channel and will view/review shortly!
Thanks Graham, I look forward to uploading some new clips in the new year. I now have access to a professional HD Camera so hopefully the quality will get better...
Yes I want to add some more views to ecourage people to get out and see some of the most beautiful parts of Scotland, including the west highland way. I sold my sony FX1 HDV camera but I,m now thinking about getting back to full size system rather than the Lumix GH1 or my Nikon D90 which I use for video - there more portable, however I think they just lack the edge. Good luck with your HD
The FZ38(35) is a very capable camera for both stills and video in 720p avchd lite and motion jpeg. Overall I am pleased with the camera - I also have the TZ7 ,GF-1 and GH1 as comparisons. I have no experience of the sony model so cannot amke a direct comparison.
thanks. i have the fz28. i'm satisfied with it but the addition of stereo mic and the advance o.i.s. makes me think of upgrading. I'm just thinkin MAYBE panasonic will come out with new upgrade. i remembered fz35 came out a year after fz28 was out. i'll wait for a while. i hope they'll come out with true 1080p(not 1080i) w/o sacrificing still shots. a hot shoe would be a plus and a swivel LCD, pump the mp more, enlarge the sensor more... it will be perfect.
Yes its possible, nothing was posted following the CES show in the states. IMHO its unlikely 1080p will follow in the compacts yet as Panasonic have only enabled it in the GH1 and not the GF1. Samsung are realeasing a 14mp aps-c size compact that looks like the fz38 in january it will have interchangeable lens, but cos £600. Hot shoe would be nice but again GH1 GF1 have it.
thanks. i just thought panasonic might do that because Canon did one, the Powershot SX1 IS. it's 1080p and has a hot shoe. GF1 and GH1 are DSLR, right? Canon has DSLR too but they have 1080p in their superzoom. the SX1 IS can even shoot still while shooting video. it will only interupt the video recording for a bit. The only thing that brings me back to panasonic is that some reviews on the sx1 IS said the it's poor in low light, it's noisy.
The GF1 and GH1 aren't true dslr, they are mirrorless slr. The gh1 has built in high res eye level viewer, the gf1 gas an attachment viewfinder. The lumix are OK down to about 150 watts of tungsten with the kit lens, need to go to gh1/gf1 with 20mm f1.8 for anything dimmer or the auto will push up the iso to noisy 1600 if you don't limit it to 400 + 3ev.
thankyou for your comments, part of a gallery of images taken on my walk up the WHW during October this year so as to coincide with the onset of Autumn colour.
G0WSP, I used my regular NLE package to put together the slide show using the combination of stills and just adding transition effects! It is canopus edius 5.02, however you could use any NLE
Yes thanks, the weather was very kind to us, middle 3 days were cloudless and it went to -3 in Glencoe campsite - but that's half the fun of wild camping! The last day saw very heavy rain from Kinlochleven into Fort William however it did clear up just as we started the descent from the upper forest down into Glen Nevis and opportunity to get cloud free shots of Ben Nevis.

@morris4355 yes for stills this camera ticks all the boxes, a few dealers still have some but it has been discntinued in favour of the newer FZ100.

are you saying, you're already satisfied with your FZ38? i'm choosing between the fz35(U.S.) and the Sony HX1... what do you think?
