Do anybody know what the music is called that is played when Peter turns the TV back on after Fran turns it off? It's also played in a Commodore 64 game called Jet Set Willy 2. I've looked everywhere and am at a total loss.
@Mourning6star66 I think you're right! It's mentioned on the Extended Version here on YouTube as such and as "an old Spanish song" though I believe it's originally Beethoven's.
I love this song. Goblin are awesome. Part of this song reminds me of the SWAT theme. I was wondering if perhaps Goblin were paying a slight homage to it because 2 of the main characters are SWAT guys. Either that or it's a '70s thing. I love the '70s:)
I hope people realise that this was in the original Dawn of the Dead during the final scene when the zombies are let loose in the mall and wasnt exclusivley in the ZOMBI version.. really pisses me off when people don't know that..

Love this track, play it all the time when i'm playing Deadrising makes the gameplay a whole lot better. Although Capcom is getting the fucking shit sued out of them by George Romero, still a pretty good game. I just wish they hadnt stolen the fucking mall concept from romero bcz he didnt do the Resident Evil movie, which by the way all four are so FUCKING HORRIBLE!!!!!
They used this in the Directors Cur aswell. Yeah, a thing about the Directors Cut DVD cover. It says Uncut Version, I put commentary on (idk why) and it said that there were still bits of it cut. It said that the girls boyfriend who but her in the shoulder (at the start) there was a cut blood splurt.
AWSOMENESS!!!!!!!!!!, my fave movie for all time, no zombie movie has managed to have the feel that dawn of the dead has, great soundtrack, great film and a great director GEORGE . A . ROMERO!!!!!
This is awesome MoshPit thanks for posting, we saw Dawn of the Dead on the big screen about 2 months ago and it has lost none of the greatness from 30 years ago so thanks for posting the soundtrack
different version but good btw the eurpean version is not rare plus it sucks it's just a cut american version same music except it gets rid of the gonk at the end
This soundtrack is by goblin, an italian group. Actually, even the movie is different. I mean, it's the same, but the italian version is edited differently and the final product is a better movie. Unlike what they did with Martin (which they turned into a bad film)
If you knew anything about horror movies you douchebag, you would know Goblin has done music for some of the best horror movies ever made i.e. Suspiria...like I said, learn your history!!!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Suspiria was filmed in 1977 and most his music was done in the 70s and early 80s Includeing Legend if I was so historicly inacurate whats that make you.. fuckn vaginal belch get a life and bitch about it some more your just makeing a fool of yourself
His music is something you really dont know of aparently comeing form a 40 year old skidmark as yourself you should know better you sound like a 10 year old
In the italian version of Dawn Of The Dead this theme is played much more times than the american version, replacing other musics, on the purpose to make the movie even more frantic.
I think in Italy Goblin has never had the public appraisal they deserved.
yes goblin did really good of writing music for the film but the thing is that Romero's idea was to make a mockery of the mall and pop culture (hence why he used other music for the movie than dario) , Dario on the other habd edited to make it more like a comic book horror theme (mainly cuz at the time he didn't fully understand the concept of making a kickass horror film while being a satire and a social statement at the same time)
Yes, you're right; probably that's one of the reasons why the movie has different lenghts in different countries. But it would be a good movie even without the gore scenes.
What if Romero would have used the heavily tragic alternate ending?
awesome music, from an awesome movie dawn of the dead 78, is still my fav movie, after all these years... thanks for the upload, great sound quality too, thanks!!
Cool song, but Dario Argento had practicly nothing to do with this song or the Dawn of the Dead soundtrack. This is a song by Goblin. Atleast you could put them in tags instead of Megadeth and Slayer.
Dario Argento was a script consultant on 'George A Romero's Dawn of the Dead'. Romero was having a hard time with the script and Argento invited Romero (and his wife) to Rome, Italy to work on the movie.
Argento's 'Zombi' is a result of Dario adding edited and cutting room floor material to Dawn of the Dead, createing the European version of Romero's film.
(Thus Fulci had to call his flick 'Zombi 2' to avoid confusion with Argento & Romero's film aka 'Zombie Flesh Eaters, and so)
I added Slayer and Megadeth because I personally enjoy those bands, and am trying to draw that audience in so they can hear a little Goblin.
A lot of people have no idea of Goblin, and I did not till a few years ago when I first viewed Dario Argento's 'Suspiria',which Goblin worked on with Argento. Goblin is a musical extension of Dario Argento, and the two creative units have worked on dozens of movie soundtracks together.
To say Goblin has nothing to do with Argento is prepostourous.
Goblin was formed years before their collaboration with Argento, and before that they were called Cherry Five. They were part of the rich progressive rock movement of Italy. Goblin members have said it themselves, that Argento played no role in the composing area. He gave instructions about the feeling he wanted the music to provoke, but never played any melody, instrument or sound. Just because they had collaboration doesn't mean that Argento composed anything.
Apparently this ignored my 2nd message. I didn't say "Goblin has nothing to do with Argento". What I said was "Dario Argento had practicly nothing to do with this song or the Dawn of the Dead soundtrack", which is a different matter. I should've emphasized that I meant it musicwise. Sure, Argento commissioned Goblin to write music, but he didn't compose any music.
seeing you are from Finland, you would have more knowledge and experience with Goblin then myself.
In nyc, I know Goblin from purchasing DVDs at a speciality store in the East Village.they are an oversea band, and I would have to see when and where they played in the states.
This band Goblin captured the moments in Argentos film, & I find some of the material in 'Pheonema' as a brilliant classic.
'Tenebre' intro. Suspiria.Joe Damato.awesome. I have them in me ipod thanks 2 library.
show me where I say that Argento plays 'melody, instrument or sound'.
Dario Argento worked on all aspects of his films: special effects, set design, music, direction, script, story. I dont think Goblin who brush aside an artistic genius with vision and sound as Argento and the opportunity for feedback.
These two minds created some of the greatest movie music, each expressing the sounds and moods uniquely. I know Argento did not sit down and pick up a guitar and jam with Goblin.
Did John Williams not receive feedback, ideas, suggestions, story moods and situations, scene scripts, from George Lucas to create 'Star Wars' and all the music.
( Indian Jones and Close Encounters, Jaws with Spielberg)
Did George Lucas write down the music? No Did he play violin? No.
To say these individual hard core movie makers would not be involved with such an important aspect of their films, such as music, I dont agree with.
Point taken. But still we don't know any specific details from the Goblin-Argento process, other than the guys in Goblin composed this song, _maybe_ with some (most likely non-musical) guidelines from Argento. I have a CD release of the Zombi soundtrack and it clearly states "music by Goblin", without any extra reference to Argento or his guidelines. My guess is that Goblin composed a bunch of musical sketches and Argento chose which ones to use on the soundtrack, but it's just a guess.
And this is from a movie by George Romero, not Argento. Argento just re-cut it (into more gory version) and commissioned Goblin to write some tunes. I doubt it was as glorious process as you try to depict with our Lucas/Spielberg-Williams comparison.
@drvector eh the cut mainly just focused more on the gore instead of the mockery of society and mall culture which was what the film as a whole was, George A. Romero himself said that Dario never really understood the film
They should play this when chuck norris beats up zombies
