Hit the slopes, stayed in SLC. This was the best meal of the trip. This place is a landmark. It's in a bad neighborhood, with tons of construction for the new rail system, and it's packed at 4pm on a Saturday afternoon. What does that tell you? Great food. People find a way to get here.
I had watched this episode last night and ever since then, all I can think about were tamales. I was hoping to catch that clip on here so that I can write down the recipe, but it seems missing. Am I watching the wrong episode? Does anybody know or remember that tamale recipe that was on here?
Yeh, Yeh, Yeh...I had heard of this place for years from friends who still lived in SLC (I moved some time ago) and when I returned on a very short trip, saw to it to go, and finally see what all the fuss was about.
"Guy No Lie!" Nothing I tried there was just, OK! Everything there was unique.
Yes Lucy is very sexy and once you meet her the chorizema and personality makes her even more so making her the rare trifecta. Even more beautiful is the food at the Red Iguana. I lived worked and loved at one of the best Mexican restaurants in San Francisco right near the Mission and have been a Chef and coinsure of fine foods for 22 years and this is by far the best food around from any culture. The moles they make are so complex it will blow your mouths mind gotta geta mole sampler.
Visited on Wednesday evening 01/19/11, and the line was out the door for dinner, on a Wednesday night. People didn't care to wait, even if it was 30 degrees out. They have heaters over head and bring out hot coco. Had Chicken Enchiladas Verde. Needless to say, it was awesome. No wonder this place is #2 of all restaurants in SLC.
Finally made it in yesterday. The place was completely packed at 3:30 in the afternoon, possibly because of the President's Day holiday. But it was well worth the wait. I had the mole negro and it was fantastic!
Red iguana now has two locations. The second location has patio seating for the coming summer season and is just two blocks west and about two blocks south of the original location. This jion is in our neighborhood and is THE BEST........Also the downtown mall in Salt Lake will have a restaurant call A TASTE OF RED IGUANA in a few months......
