I dunno how "cool" it was back then to see such stuff but for most people today it definitely managed to ruin a good part of the movie...I mean having some low IQ retard go out and kill anybody that seems "bad",or keeping bullets in his chest as a "souvenir"(lmao),or destroying grave stoves to train,etc. was one thing...but after Riki killed Oscar it kinda got a lil' out of hand with the other members of the gang of 4 being super-assassins and the warden being "karate Hulk" )))

I forgot best part...he punches a giant whole in the prison wall and says to the prisoners "you are all free",I can agree 1-2 out of 10 could have been there by false accusations/mistake but most definitely deserved to be there,and he let them out into the world again :| but even that is acceptable to what the live movie did with the warden =)

I dunno, but likely Kenshiro. Riki-Oh's greatest feat for ages is getting a huge-ass nuclear plant to resume operation, but early on Ken kills a giant. Then Kenshiro has nonsense hax like against that one lardass. So yeah.

I really wish they adapted the scene from the manga, this is all perfectly climactic as well with the opium greenhouse being destroyed and all the prisoners rebelling, so why not end it with a gory battle against the big bastard?

not really. never read the manga and only saw the live action movie and this one, with this version i will refer to his hand as the pimp hand. it just shows that his pimp hand is so powerful he didnt have to touch the warden to destory him. i must say that that punch was intense, imagine the trauma inside, hes skull was crushed and his only brain function was, "wait maybe i can fix it with my hand, oh no". Brutal death really

I don't what the production values are like, I've never seen it. From what I've heard, it stars the same guy from the first Riki-Oh movie and was released on DVD in 2003. Source: Wikipedia. Also, I saw the DVD for sale on eBay once.

The OVAs are pretty disappointing, but at least the first one has some decent production values and voice acting. I'm not a big fan of the Riki-Oh manga, but the OVAs could have been much more ridiculous and over-the-top than they ended up being. They're REALLY watered down, especially compared to the downright disgusting stuff going on in the manga(most of which is adapted scene-for-scene in the HK movie, believe it or not!).

Also, it's worth mentioning that the warden was just as strangely small in the original comic as in this OVA, which makes his transformation that much more over-the-top... Though he actually looked pretty scary in the manga as opposed to his... "rubbery" appearance in the HK movie. XD
