How does a person go about volunteering to drive a brand new truck or SUV like that for a car manufacturer? I've been down a lot of horrible trails here in Idaho that would make that trail seem like a highway. A lot of people truly don't know what they're 4WD can do and most never will.
What the hell is that? My wife's Toyota Altezza (IS200) can do that shit. Going downhill on loose shale is hardly a challenge for any vehicle. Go look up the Land Rover Defender and you see REAL offroad! I love Toyota but this guy is a dick!
Well I will say the Landcruiser is by far the best over all suv that money can buy. I have a 97 Landcruiser and i has been a joy to own and drive. The thing is a tank and never breaks. The only thing that has went bad on it is the starter and i say after 12 years the starter should be going out. I think someone mentioned a ford in here. I see more fords broke down on the side of the road than any other vehicle. If it came to the best american truck then chevy is superior but toyota is better.
@carguy379 In other parts of the world, you can buy this with little options for as little as $33k. Yes, it will be the basic 4.0 v6 but it is a landcruiser.
In the middle east (where I came from) the Land Cruiser is actually used by 99% of the people who lives in the deserts and mountains, and this test is actually a daily routine for most people living there. Believe me, no car what so ever can survive this torture except these incredible Toyotas.
living and working in africa [kenya], we use 7 year old landcruisers since duty on new vehicles is high. therfore we use landcruiser which have already done 70-100,000 miles on the clock for a further 7 years minimum ex UK, ex Japan models,. thus landcruisers here you can find doing over 200-300,000 miles on African roads a true testiment to their reliability. the 100 series and the prado is the king here and everything else is just a compramise.
There is not a single good European offroader. Land Rover? Always gets the most unreliable award every fucking year when Land Cruiser does the complete opposite and get the job done both.
It's no wonder why Toyota is the biggest automaker in the entire world. Even Lexus LX, which is based on LC is epic. Looks so much better than a Mercedes GL and G class, which perform and look like Made in China with extremely high maintenance fee.
@subinct I don't think you can do the same this truck does with an old pick up, However, nobody is saying the LC is comparable with a wrangler or a defender, which are pure of road beasts.
@subinct You are not getting the point of these vehicles. If you only need to go offroad, you can get much further with something else than a pickup truck. Buy old tractor or a good ATV, and it goes places where trucks don't go.
Point of a vehicle lice LC200, is to be excellent ON road, and good OFFroad, same time being very comfrot and spacious. I don't believe that your 4000$ pickup could get even close of the LC in terms of comfort, and luxury touring vehicle. It's a multi purpose vehicle.
@subinct so your saying that only fat ass needs luxury? You can't even imagine in your wet dreams how much sport activity I'm doing every week but when it comes to my comfort (my home, my car, etc) I love luxury...
If you know what your doing most situations don't require 4WD or a locker. I however, would rather own a 4WD and not need it, than to need it and not have it. The BS about extra cost for servicing a 4WD is just that its total BS. I don't spend anymore money on my truck to have it serviced than my neighbor does with his car at the same shop.
land cruisers are for yuppies that need a little extra something to get through their gravel driveways....of course, until those rotten contractors get around to paving them...those japs dont know anything about offroading...buy a jeep or an h1
Land Cruisers, or any other Toyota SUV are the best offroad. I have a 1985 Toyota 4runner, and I thrash it pretty well off road but it still works fine. It's pretty much impossible to stop a Toyota.
yeah..seriously impossible to stop a toyota..thats why toyota needs to recall their cars to stop it..(well except for the land cruiser..it is really unstoppable..but other toyotas...uhhh...)
id rather have the 5 litre range rover the 2010 one they are faster i think better offroad and nicer to look at and be in although if a couldnt own any landy i would take this over a jeep any day the diesel is a beast in these lc's and compared to a jeep's interior this thing looks amazing.
@omar03dammam Well, that's the image that marketing and sales people want to create. But, a simple fact that can also be seen from reliability surveys is that, Land Cruiser is nowhere near the most reliable. It's also a mathematical fact, that such a complicate vehicle as LC200, can not be the most reliable. But that I agree, Toyotas are far more reliable than Land Rovers are, which are horribly unreliable. Also Jeep's are technically much different, and are known to bee worse reliability wise.

I came back to watch your posting again. We test in Australia with the Toyota vehicles. You have got one of the best narration voices for this video that's for sure. All the best for your future travels!
Have just posted up 5 days ago our 76 Series adventure up north Queensland, and are set to film across the Kimberley region (north-west Australia) with the 200 series towing a van in the next few months. Will let you know how we go.
The Pajero maybe an excellent Off-Roader but fails on On-Road performance. The New LC On-Road handling has greatly improved than the previous model. But I'd still prefer a Pajero due to it's low price. I could live with that body-roll.. lol
jus me thinken, but i kinda think the older suv's toyota, ford, dodge, all of the, were pretty good off-raod,but in todays time id be worried bout the paint,or under the suv
Very nice. I actually drive one, not exactly this model, but the one before it. I also have an old 1970's FJ40. Great suv!
Don't get too worried about the price. although the beast is quite expensive, it'll repay the sticker price twenty-fold due to its reliability and workman-like ruggedness.
The U.N. and the W.H.O. don't buy these things (as well as the Land Rover, but in fewer numbers) because they're dainty and cute. This thing is a beast.
Pajero is definetely better value for money. The 2010 new Pajero will challenge truly LC200 as well in comfort and other things. The existing Pajero is great due its completely lockable rear and center diffs and its quite light compared to LC, it goes better on slippy and deep terrains, snow, mud, sand.
One thing though.. the Pajero fails on On-Road performance.. I have driven both New models. The Pajero has serious body-roll issues.. While the LC has some reliability issues particularly electronic problems.
This car is cimply amazing. The engine is more powerful than the Porsche Cayenne, and with both Diff Lockers and a lift kit, its simply unstoppable.
The Only bad side is that there has been so much technology - like the CRAWL system - which makes it an expenseive and difficult to service car. Toyota need to return to basic models (like the 80 series) and work upwards, and have the option of discarding all the expensive technology. After all, the 200 starts at $74,000AU
Toyota Land Cruiser - Only machine to cross antartica. One of two machine to be used exclusively across Africa and Austraila (outback), for hundreds of years now. Sorry - Jeep lovers - Jeep cant hang with the reliablity on Toyota Land Cruiser in the deserts of Africa and Austraila.
I used to be a huge Toyota fan, there reliability has slipped in the last few years, any yes they build some incredible Toyotas in Iceland/Antartica to travel on the snow and Ice, too bad you couldn,t buy something like this from the showroom or at least half way. With enough effort you could just as easily modify a Subaru and do the same thing.
This vehicle does not excite me at all! This has little articulation and small tires. Not something I would buy if I intend on going off road. I would buy an older Land Cruiser with the solid axle and stuff 35/37 inch tires with an Old Man Emu articulation kit, There is no way this new vehicle could follow the older LC around! It's a nice SUV, just don't use the word off road on such a princess!
I am sure that it would be a great ride and luxurious, and yes it can do moderate off road. I believe the direction Toyota should be aiming for is less bells and whistles and more off road ability, larger tires and double the axle articulation, improve the approach and departure...That is all I am suggesting. All the best.
I don't get it, you don't like the New LC because it has small tires.. and you'll buy an old LC and fit larger tires.. Makes no sense.. Why not equipt the New LC with larger tires.. in that way, it'll be unstoppable..
While I appreciate your concern this was not all that radical and although you're tactically correct, in my humble opinion "horrified" is a bit over the edge. You must be a pro at this stuff.
and they did... diesel LC is not available in US probably because they failed emission test but all countries worldwide have diesel with 4.8L V8 and V6.
Hi "djkasdjkasdjdjdj" its the width, hight and general size, engine's are bigger. The Prado is a smaller version but still great. (not that they are small)
toyota landcruiser is the perfect escape vehicle when that ILLEGAL DRUG DEAL GOES BAD, OR THAT PEACE NEGOTIATION FAILS. no wonder the druglords love it. no wonder the UN dumped the Range Rover for Toyota Landcruiser.
try to escape in a jeep or a ford or a chevy in a bad drug deal in colombia and the next thing you now, you're dead on the streets. and if you escape in a Range Rover or any American SUV in the middle east or in africa when that peace deal goes sour, you're DEAD.
oh and he would look way cooler with the engine of his Range Rover blown up and on fired on the road. that would ve so cool and laughable. i'll be proud to lend a help with my Landcruiser.
i want to get the last landcruiser model. maybe i'll get the 2006 version. the 2008 is too soft and feminine. it even looks like a blown up toyota Highlander.
Landcruisers are the most recognizable suv around the globe. you see them on every continent, especially severe weather and landscape environment. no wonder the UN, UNICEF, Peacecorps, EU, and many othe peace keeper organizations make the Landcruiser their escape vehicle.
TOYOTA is the best brand WORLDWIDE!! I see LAND CRUISERS in EUROPE, SAUDI ARABIA, SOUTH AMERICA, AUSTRALIA while the range rover in EUROPE and maybe NORTH AMERICA... thats it! TOYOTA LAND CRUISER IS WORLDWIDE! THE BEST 4X4!
oh yes and try that with any Range Rover, and the next thing you know your engine is on FIRE!!!! RANGE ROVER IS so fucking pathetic. my dad's brand new $90,000 Range Rover went on flame on the freeway of Los Angeles, and we're not even rock climbing. we're on a freakin freeway. that junk just went on fire. the engine blow up. it guess it has to do with the summer heat.
Toyota Landcruise would not do stupid thing like that on the freeway.
but she have right. toyota lc 2008 y model is shit.that is so heavy and so big at u dont want that. and u dont klimb with this ''house'' but all older version of lc is really good.
i have toyota lc120 2004 year and its climb like a animal.
maybe you forgot that the americans are FAT. your 2004 landcruiser will not fit most americans today. toyota has to accomidate its fat american customers, so they the the landcruiser bigger so fat americans can fit in.
number1Schumacherfan: A G wagen would make that Toyota look like the mall cruiser it is.
--
G-Wagen is an old, rusty design that belongs to the past and should've been ditched for years. Mercedes simply forgot to stop to make it
Land Cruiser is the best of both worlds, its durable hardcore off-roader, a comfy and ultrasafe family tank, a workhorse or a luxury SUV, whatever you want it to be. In a G-Wagen, something like comfort remains unknown.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Um no way. The only thing this thing is good for is hauling terrorists around in the desert. But its to big and not flexible enough to take it rock crawling or through the woods. A Rubicon or cherokee would kill this POS
are you serious? the land cruiser beats jeep any day...with the powerful V8 and all the off-road technology in the land cruiser...people dont pay $65,000+ for nothing. jeep rocks in off roading, but cant beat the landcruiser
When your paying 65,000 your paying for the fancy leather and toyota name. The old land cruisers were pretty amazing off road and where very reliable but the new ones are nothing like there forefathers. With this new land cruiser everything is electric and prone to breakage. Unlike the old land cruiser were everything was mechanical. This new one wont be able to hold up like the old one
ya i agree....the old landcruisers were stronger. but if i was in the market for buying a car, i wouldnt trust any other car makers more than Toyota. their reliability is fantastic and i guess the re-sale value explains it. even if everything is electric, i would have to say the landcruiser is stronger than any other high-luxury off road vehicles.the forefathers of the landcruisers were the beast. ruled the land.
How does a person go about volunteering to drive a brand new truck or SUV like that for a car manufacturer? I've been down a lot of horrible trails here in Idaho that would make that trail seem like a highway. A lot of people truly don't know what they're 4WD can do and most never will.

THE BST OFF ROAD AND ON ROAD SUV in the WORLD !!!!!!!!!

well..pajero and land cruiser was nothing bad...pajero's suspension better than land cruiser
pajero have independent suspension and the land cruiser is solid axle..
sometime offroad land cruiser rear tyre did Suspended...the pajero's engine is 3.2 liter..
it less than land cruiser..the only engine loss to land cruiser
philps89 2 years ago
I find them both impressive :D My dad had both (not at the same time...) First the LC than the Pajero... 2 Awesome vehicles
MegaG15 2 years ago
The Pajero maybe an excellent Off-Roader but fails on On-Road performance. The New LC On-Road handling has greatly improved than the previous model. But I'd still prefer a Pajero due to it's low price. I could live with that body-roll.. lol

well you cannot compare betwen the land cruiser and the pajero, the pajero much better..
BikerYamahaR1 2 years ago
I replay on truthscaveneger:
Even the not modified one is better, if you think that land cruisers better than a pajero, then you must have never ever ever drive a PAJERO.
I respect land cruiser it is an amazing 4×4 bu will never come near a pajero!!

jus me thinken, but i kinda think the older suv's toyota, ford, dodge, all of the, were pretty good off-raod,but in todays time id be worried bout the paint,or under the suv
3hree6ix 2 years ago
74bajista 2 years ago
Pajero is better than this LC, can this thing cross the Dakar rally like what the pajero did more then 10 times..??
qhdierjgoofoewgjf465 2 years ago
Yeah something like that.
Pajero is definetely better value for money. The 2010 new Pajero will challenge truly LC200 as well in comfort and other things. The existing Pajero is great due its completely lockable rear and center diffs and its quite light compared to LC, it goes better on slippy and deep terrains, snow, mud, sand.
offfiman 2 years ago
those are modified. nothing comes close to the land cruiser except the H1 hummer.
truthscavenger 2 years ago
One thing though.. the Pajero fails on On-Road performance.. I have driven both New models. The Pajero has serious body-roll issues.. While the LC has some reliability issues particularly electronic problems.
BedShaker0909 2 years ago
This car is cimply amazing. The engine is more powerful than the Porsche Cayenne, and with both Diff Lockers and a lift kit, its simply unstoppable.
The Only bad side is that there has been so much technology - like the CRAWL system - which makes it an expenseive and difficult to service car. Toyota need to return to basic models (like the 80 series) and work upwards, and have the option of discarding all the expensive technology. After all, the 200 starts at $74,000AU

Land Cruiser is the best offroader thats for sure.
It not a boulivard suv like a chayenne.

The second machine is the Land Rover defender 110, 2 dr and 4dr.

the land cruiser is also great for the sand dune in the middle east, going to high speeds, burnouts, driving on 2 wheels and its a great family car.
moe4r 2 years ago

It's a nice SUV, just don't use the word off road on such a princess!
adsabine1 2 years ago
did you ever drive one of these things?
moe4r 2 years ago
I am sure that it would be a great ride and luxurious, and yes it can do moderate off road. I believe the direction Toyota should be aiming for is less bells and whistles and more off road ability, larger tires and double the axle articulation, improve the approach and departure...That is all I am suggesting. All the best.
adsabine1 2 years ago
I don't get it, you don't like the New LC because it has small tires.. and you'll buy an old LC and fit larger tires.. Makes no sense.. Why not equipt the New LC with larger tires.. in that way, it'll be unstoppable..

toyota landcruiser is the perfect escape vehicle when that ILLEGAL DRUG DEAL GOES BAD, OR THAT PEACE NEGOTIATION FAILS. no wonder the druglords love it. no wonder the UN dumped the Range Rover for Toyota Landcruiser.
try to escape in a jeep or a ford or a chevy in a bad drug deal in colombia and the next thing you now, you're dead on the streets. and if you escape in a Range Rover or any American SUV in the middle east or in africa when that peace deal goes sour, you're DEAD.

oh and he would look way cooler with the engine of his Range Rover blown up and on fired on the road. that would ve so cool and laughable. i'll be proud to lend a help with my Landcruiser.

yeah, you would look so cool or way cooler being stucked on the road with your Range Rover. now that would be so cool.
dianthusboy 3 years ago
i want to get the last landcruiser model. maybe i'll get the 2006 version. the 2008 is too soft and feminine. it even looks like a blown up toyota Highlander.

THE BEST 4X4!
ttpty 3 years ago
oh yes and try that with any Range Rover, and the next thing you know your engine is on FIRE!!!!
Toyota Landcruise would not do stupid thing like that on the freeway.
dianthusboy 3 years ago
durablity dosen't pervent poor driving skills, any engine could catch on fire if over reved1

Your a fool !
Are you talking about the merc G wagon??? then one thats based on a Mercedes 307D Van !
EBTerriers 3 years ago
number1Schumacherfan: A G wagen would make that Toyota look like the mall cruiser it is.
--
G-Wagen is an old, rusty design that belongs to the past and should've been ditched for years.
But how can a German Kartoffel know this??

Um no way. The only thing this thing is good for is hauling terrorists around in the desert. But its to big and not flexible enough to take it rock crawling or through the woods. A Rubicon or cherokee would kill this POS
yamaha779 3 years ago
are you serious? the land cruiser beats jeep any day...with the powerful V8 and all the off-road technology in the land cruiser...people dont pay $65,000+ for nothing. jeep rocks in off roading, but cant beat the landcruiser
thejokerlaugh 3 years ago 4
When your paying 65,000 your paying for the fancy leather and toyota name. The old land cruisers were pretty amazing off road and where very reliable but the new ones are nothing like there forefathers. With this new land cruiser everything is electric and prone to breakage. Unlike the old land cruiser were everything was mechanical. This new one wont be able to hold up like the old one
yamaha779 3 years ago
ya i agree....the old landcruisers were stronger. but if i was in the market for buying a car, i wouldnt trust any other car makers more than Toyota. their reliability is fantastic and i guess the re-sale value explains it. even if everything is electric, i would have to say the landcruiser is stronger than any other high-luxury off road vehicles.the forefathers of the landcruisers were the beast. ruled the land.
thejokerlaugh 3 years ago 5
the only SUV i'll buy is a Land Cruiser or Nissan Safari
