I really don't think our current "political party based" system encourages any integrity at all. The States are soverign and they are united by choice. The sole job of the federal government is to ensure that the States do not trample on your rights as individuals and for common defence THATS IT! No other job exists for the federal government, and they can't even do that.

@NewAmericaNow The whole concept of the so-called "tea party" was not to protest the taxes themselves but because those paying taxes should get a voice in their government (i.e. taxation with representation although you might also know it as "democracy"). The founding fathers purposefully wrote a Constitution that would defend peoples' freedoms but more importantly would defend democracy and prevent totalitarian governments like the one I think you're suggesting.

The STATES were like sovereign countries before the Federal govt was created (BY the STATES!). The states reserved all powers NOT EXPLICITLY granted to the fed by the constitution. In Canada, I pay $108 a month to insure my family of three through basic medicare and my wife's employer pays 2/3 of it. My employer covers my private extended health which I think is $80 a month for stuff not covered through medicare - dental, vision, etc. and combined with my wife's extended health which she also doesn't have to pay for, we get combined zero deductible extended health. (Medicare is always zero deductible)
And Newfoundland/Labrador Premiere Williams went to Miami for heart surgery because waiting list was too long in Canada...for a goverment official no less! I'd rather pay more out of my pocket then die on a waiting list. Makes sense, eh?

It's hard to believe that the wealthiest country in the world has by all measures the least efficient and most expensive health care system of all nations. It's even harder to believe that people in that country are so resistant to fixing it.
@MrCrempel One reason it's expensive is the fact we have the most advanced technology in the world. If you would be happy with Ghana-level health care, it would be much less costly. The other reason is Congress has already meddled with and tilted the markets, by being bought with special interest money and preventing across state border competition. Anything Congress does to try to 'make things better', they make it worse, like the "Chicken Tax". Check that out on search, and see why.
Now all we need to do is find a political party that's not willing to sell us out on this 'global economy' BS! I do believe that Obama will get health care reform passed. It's just not going to happen as quickly as originally thought... but it will happen. the reason is because the health care system in the U.S. is badly broken and reform is needed. Therefore when it comes right down to it health care reform will happen. Obama has stated he will not give up. he's a pretty strong willed man and I believe he will keep working on this until it does pass. Go Obama you have my vote of confidence.

It is not the governemnts job to supply anything but insure that freedom of the individual is maintained. Govt supplies Social Security insurance here. Many more states are working on similar legislation. Monopolies should always be abolished and so should this government. @NewAmericaNow The whole concept of the so-called "tea party" was not to protest the taxes themselves but because those paying taxes should get a voice in their government (i.e. taxation with representation although you might also know it as "democracy"). The founding fathers purposefully wrote a Constitution that would defend peoples' freedoms but more importantly would defend democracy and prevent totalitarian governments like the one I think you're suggesting.

The STATES were like sovereign countries before the Federal govt was created (BY the STATES!). The states reserved all powers NOT EXPLICITLY granted to the fed by the constitution. Doesnt matter. People hate the bill so much that it'll be repealed if they pass it. Even if it does pass, it'll go away once the plan goes bankrupt. Just like Social Security and Medicare will.

In Canada, I pay $108 a month to insure my family of three through basic medicare and my wife's employer pays 2/3 of it. My employer covers my private extended health which I think is $80 a month for stuff not covered through medicare - dental, vision, etc. and combined with my wife's extended health which she also doesn't have to pay for, we get combined zero deductible extended health. (Medicare is always zero deductible)

Former building inspector. Pretty much self employed and scraping by. I don't want government healthcare. I will take the dying option rather than serfdom. What else would you call a healthcare plan enforced by the IRS that gives guaranteed income to BIG Pharma and BIG insurance (saves advertising money and increases revenues by making the purchase MANDATORY).
Then there's the math impossibility of ensuring more people for 33% less? Sure, government boorats are that efficient.

It's hard to believe that the wealthiest country in the world has by all measures the least efficient and most expensive health care system of all nations. It's even harder to believe that people in that country are so resistant to fixing it.

@MrCrempel One reason it's expensive is the fact we have the most advanced technology in the world. If you would be happy with Ghana-level health care, it would be much less costly. The other reason is Congress has already meddled with and tilted the markets, by being bought with special interest money and preventing across state border competition. Anything Congress does to try to 'make things better', they make it worse, like the "Chicken Tax". Check that out on search, and see why.

I hear a lot of you on the far left say this but never have anything to back it up with other than Iraq, in which congress, then controlled by the democrats, gave Bush the green light to go in based off the intel they had at the time... and to say he is the worst president in the last 50 to 100 years is laughable, I suppose you are too young to remember the Carter Administration.. Health care does not need a reform, insurance does.

I do believe that Obama will get health care reform passed. It's just not going to happen as quickly as originally thought... but it will happen. the reason is because the health care system in the U.S. is badly broken and reform is needed. Therefore when it comes right down to it health care reform will happen. Obama has stated he will not give up. he's a pretty strong willed man and I believe he will keep working on this until it does pass. Go Obama you have my vote of confidence.
