Damn ... I wish I could memorize this whole section! I'd love to be able to quote these passages from memory while discussing religion with proselytizers. (I'm putting this item on my To Do list!)
"You never see animals going through the absurd and often horrible fooleries of magic and religion. Only man behaves with such gratuitous folly. It is the price he has to pay for being intelligent but not, as yet, intelligent enough. -Aldous Huxley, author "Roots"
I know that Alex Haley wrote a book called "Roots." It seems suspiciously like some sort of dyslexic mix-up that Aldous Huxley also wrote a book called "Roots," since their names are so close. I found 2sites that have the exact Huxley quote that you've mentioned along with the claim that he wrote "Roots," but I can't find the claim that Huxley wrote "Roots" apart from this particular quote. Could it be that multiple people have cut and pasted from the same erroneous source?
Great piece of detective work! My hunch is that it should read Aldous Huxley. It fits more with Aldous Huxley as to what we know of the man. My wild guess here is that some well meaning person thought incorrectly that Huxley was the same guy who wrote "Roots" and decided to tack that incorrect fact on at the end. Good Work! I will change my copy of that quote.
Ah yes, a female god! Now that I might have been able to believe in. Well, probably not. :)

Yumm. I love women wearing low neck dresses who have lots of back hair (3:40).
