I used to run into Downtown Dan everyday when I worked near Tinseltown. I don't mean disrespect with this comment, but Downtown Dan is actually loaded with money. He lives in a cheap apartment by choice, and he walks around town asking for money because it's an excuse to talk to people. Super nice guy, hard to avoid, NOT homeless... I have compassion for anyone who struggles (including due to mental disorders), but Dan does not need anything from anyone other than a friendly hello.
