  • which sports motorbike would you recommend for a tall person; lets say 6'3 6'4 ?

  • @usblg4gb my friend is 6'2 and he owns an 05 kawi ninja 636 i've ridden it and im 6feet tall, the ninja 636 is a tall bike that i think you would like. its the tallest bike i've ridden on

  • @70chevynova

Oh right, thanks for letting me know although im still quite far from a 600cc (its 600 right?)

    Im only 15 :P

  • this bike is known to be tall, im 5'9 would i be on tip toes?

the nearest dealership with a daytona is 2 hours away so cant sit on one to see for myself i'm afraid. thanks in advance to anyone who can help:)

  • @rippedandpumped Hey. I may buy one this sunday at the local dealer (2007). I've sat on a gixxer, r6, cbr1000, all 2007 and up... way more comfortable. You can tell the Daytona is for the track as soon as you sit on it. agressive seat which is very firm and the bars are agressive. I'm around your height and when my ass is furthest at the back and i can plant my feet. The bike is very narrow-ish. which felt quite good. I think you're good to go. Make the trek with a buddy and sit on one!

  • @FRFM00 thanks dude:o)

  • i will have a R6 please, or better yet a GXS-R 750

  • Das ist ja schlimm..-.- wie die um die kurven "heizen" ...

  • Never could stand the wheeze whine noise they make.

  • lol, i can barley hear what the man says, because of the loveley noise from the triumphs!

  • I'm not saying bikes cant go 200 MPH plus, I was arguing that even if a speedo is showing a speed doesn't actually mean that's there true speed. I think a stock cbr1000 can push about 175mph and he's saying that his mate was hitting 215mph!! That's 40mph more and Honda already squeezes most of the power from these engines. And at this kinda speed you need so much more HP to move the topend up anymore. The vayron could do 254mph with 1000bhp but to get it to go 16 mph faster then had to add anot

  • Beautiful bike. I just saw one the other day parked next to a Ducati 1198. I think for the price of one of these, they are pretty awesome. I'm looking into getting one in the next few years. Congrats Triumph on making a sweet bike.

  • Why did they even do tests if it was raining???

  • @viggoM35 because it wasnt raining dum dum. he said the roads were covered in salt because it was freezing

  • @thebear417 2:50 "because the amount of surface water...." Please don't call me a "dum dum" because you didn't listen to the video.

  • its f*ckin' british missile, and its on my shopping list

  • Testing bikes in GB: Not a good idea at all!! Wet every damn day of the year...

  • is this bike difficult to learn on?

  • @captainbanana11 I haven't ridden this one, just a fan. However, I ride a 2005 zx-6r and I can tell you that you may want to start on a 250 like I did. There is a lot of power especially when you go above about 5k rpm, pretty consistent on bikes in the same class.

That being said if you are a mature rider who is willing to be careful and take it slow anything is possible.

  • I have the 2010 version of this bike and I have to say it's a beautiful machine, but is not quicker than an R6 in a straight line. The R6 has another 5 mph on it easy. I know this as my mate has an 09 R6, but overall he prefers my bike

  • the daytona is awesome.. i own a street triple and would really love to own one of these..

  • Loev how hes mumbling under the sound of the bikes >.>

  • These are primarily designed as track/race bikes so any judgments made regarding road riding are moot.

  • This is the worst riding I've ever seen. Dude sticks his knee out a mile before the turn at like 15mph LOL

  • so do these shit kick inline 4 600's at low revs?

  • @danthemanzizzle If the rider is good.

  • New test criterion: Wet acceleration. That'd actually be practical information in some parts of the world.

  • your arse can get a bit hot and wrist get a bit sore and bum cheecks a bit numb. 600's are made for moving around on and being busy at all times or else you are gonna get sick of it very quickly indeed. Other than that, FANTASTIC machine with a toone of Charachter.

  • The most annoying thing about this test is the monotone delivery of the road tester... Really makes you want to listen... NOT!

  • I live in Japan, and am now on my fourth VFR (had three in the uK, still keep a VTEC garaged there). Big question for me is, fancy one of these 675s: question is, are they are good for long distance? Would love to ride one in Japan, but I need the long haul capability. Any advice?

  • Certain mileage number would help, but the 675 as with 600cc bikes are well capable of going for long distances; however, cruising with the rpms high for a long time does shorten the life of the engine. I would recommend a 1000cc for long distances, but 100 mile drive on the 675 would be fine.

  • there is a bit more strain on the 675, as its only 3 cylinder so they tend to waer down faster than the usual 600s

  • @transonicbuoy1 just another supersport bike.really fast but not good for big distance trips.when i took it for a ride about 25 minutes i realised it was really uncomfortable.

  • @thaN0s1993 these bikes are for tracks not for touring

  • @transonicbuoy1 Depends on what you mean by long distance... do you mean long distance driving over a day? Or do you mean if they can manage long distance on the meter in total? .. My drives is usally all from 5km up to 400km/day without problems.. Thats a normal day tour with the bike... If you want to go between 2 cities instead of cruising i guess you can do that to... but this is not a long distance cruise bike.. but i like the driver placement... its comfortable..

  • @transonicbuoy1 It really depends on the person. I rode my 675 for 6 hours of over 500 kms of roads in one day. No complaints just mild stiffness. Way better than my friends R6 which nearly crippled me after half an hour.

  • dyno?

  • hows this bike hang with an R6?

  • @Saint305616 faster off the line but with a slightly lower top speed

  • You would think motorcycle news dot come would get people who actually have some experience to test the bikes. It really pisses me off that these squids get to ride such badass bikes, but don't even really "test" them. Looked like there second time riding. God I want that job

  • Jesus! For a big motorcycle reviewer like MCN you think they'd put some effort into they're video reviews. It looks like its shot on a mobile phone. I love the MCN paper but don't think much of the youtube channel.

  • i love my 675,it was the best $ 10,000 dollars i ever spent........looks like everibody has a japanese bike........2008 is what mine is....

  • we had a daytona race in britain a long long time ago too

  • it was because triumph silverstone didnt sound as snappy

  • It sounds better then the Triumph Brandshatch or the Triumph Silverstone :)

(the last one sounds more like a Goldwing then a supersport)

  • I love it! Even though the bloke at mcn did an incredibly boring presentation of this bike, I still look forward to owning another Triumph soon! Nothing else in the world sounds like that 3-banger!

  • @Pooppunk83

incredibly boring presentation of this bike.

  • nice

  • Leave it to the British to take a beautiful extremely good performing Italian bike, and make it look like an expensive toy for 3rd aged big-belly men... you suck! This bike deserves more!

  • That commentator makes this a very boring video.

  • Would the Daytona be a good first bike?

  • @avobenzone

    lol no

    you high?

  • why not? only cuz maybe you crash it or is it to hard to ride?

  • too much power for a new/inexperienced rider.

It would be a very bad call to get a 600 supersport as a first bike.

also their expensive, and cost a lot to fix if you drop it.

and you WILL drop it, at least once.

buy a cheap 250 to learn on/drop/crash/ whatever, then move on to a 600 in 6 months time.

I've heard the zzr-250 is a good first choice, although i've never actually owned one myself.

post this question on a motorcycle forum for more advice.

  • Or buy a 600 and put a limiter on it. That way you save money and get used to the bike's weight. So when you will get the 600 you won't drop it at slow speeds.

  • @retardno002

    and when you drop it?

do you know how much it costs to repair a bike like that? [guess $500-800 +10 weeks wait]

also, some countries have learner laws about certain bikes. My country for example (australia) Does not allow learners to ride bikes which exceed a power to weight ratio of 150kW/tonne. The learner bike must also be on the 'lams' list. An aussie learner would not be allowed to ride a 600 supersports, even with a power restricter :[

Protip: ***buy a cheap first bike!!***

  • @crocie

ZZR 250 has been great as a first bike, and yes I dropped it a few times, glad it was that and not an expensive 600. Like you say, a learner WILL drop their bike, usually going slow, but it will happen.

  • Id reconmend a ninja 250r

  • Why would you do that?

  • Its a good first bike..

  • The UK is an awful place to test bikes.

  • The UK is an awful place.

  • @Dentatus1990

    lol

  • I test rode one of these today. It was awesome. I ride a Sprint ST 1050 but this 675 was on another planet.

  • The Sprint will likely be my next bike because of versatility, but the SOUND of the 675 trumps the big engine. I wish I could get a touring 675 with hard bags... a fly weight sport tourer!

  • iv got an after market exhaust, and it heats the seat up after a while. feel it most in hot weather (obviously), all you gotta do is stand up on the pegs and get a bit of airflow down there. Also you should go to your local Handy Man store, get some quick setting concrete and eat it so you can harden up. if thats a reason your not buying a 675, then your a fool.

  • I've owned one for 4 months now and 6000 miles. The seat has NEVER gotten anywhere near that hot. Legs will get a little warm when you're stopped at a stoplight, but when you're moving, no problems.

  • How smooth is the Daytona's 3 cylinder motor compared to the Japanese 4's? I had a Ninja 650 which is parallel twin, and I've ridden a Gixxer, and it was so smooth it blew me away. If I ever got another super sport, I'd don't think I'd ever go back to 2 cylinders, just because of the vibration.

  • I am thinking of getting one of these but I read something in a review that is scaring me off. The reviewer said the bike is awesome except for the heat from the exhaust heating up the frame and seat to the point where it is painful-any owners out there that could let me know if this is true??

  • the heat issue is also dependent on your riding style. if you are a rather timid rider and stay planted to the centre of your seat at all times, then yes heat will build up, but never to unbearable heights if you are wearing decent jeans or leather pants. if you are more aggressive and move across the seat a lot to lean the bike into the corners, hanging on for dear life, the seat stays cool at all times. I'm more the latter so talk from experience. But before making a choice, test it first.

  • they look real slow

  • looks can be decieving. these bikes are amazingly fast.

  • @poika i agree with looks can be decieving but are they really fast? ive been looking for a new bike but my garage is full of jap inline 4s and i want something different, would this be able to keep me entertained like my yamahas and suzukis do? (keep in mind most of my crazy riding is on the track, so would this be a good track bike or is it more of a street bike (again keep in mind im used to racing on inline 4s, my favorites being my r1s))

  • @thrasha666 Well, this isn't as fast as a R1. But in the 600 class this bike is the over all fastest. Due to it have three cylinders It gets the best out of two worlds. I'll try and explain. Two cylinder bikes are good down low, and four cylinder bikes have good high end. With this bike being between it's really the best of both. Over all a great bike.

  • @DwnNvr true, im guessing it would be best for my street bike then, ill be picking one up tomorrow if i like how it rides

  • @DwnNvr it's not even faster than R6 and CBR600. 156 mph top speed sounds slow when you compare it with other bikes. But honestly it looks great.

  • @lanlug 156mph on wet, which makes a huge difference. Doing some quick research top for the Daytona that I've seen is 165mph, for the cbr 162mph.

  • @ItalianPenguin I have seen cbr rr doing 178 and some over 180mph )))

  • @lanlug No, you have seen motorbike speedos reading 180 mph, just because it says it doesnt make it true. Why do you think they used a GPS system on the daytona in this video, it gives the true speed.

  • @airsofter2247 don't you want to say that daytona can't make a bike which would show right speed without gps???? ) you basically saying that daytona is the best and every thing else is piece of s...t )) but it's so not true, u just saying it because u have it, same as like mazdaspeed3, nissan 350z, honda civic si and etc drivers ))) check the videos first, there is a bunch of the where cbr600rr and r1 go over 170 some 180 even if the speedometer lies then what's the error ? like 10miles ?!!!

  • @lanlug No you dick, Im not saying the daytona has a GPS speedo, im saying that in this video if you watch it they fit on to the bike so they do get the correct reading. And plus R1's are 1000cc so im not saying they cant hit 180 but the 600cc class cant! And yes, I have a Daytona but would prefer a ZX6R so im not saying they are best, all motorbike and car speedo's read higher then there true speed.

  • @airsofter2247 oh sorry I meant r6 )) and you better watch your words next otherwise it can put you into the troubles )) if you saying such a words to me like dick be ready to respond for it, and be ready to say it in my face!

  • @lanlug Its annoying when someone fights against you when you know you are right, you probably dont own a bike or ride a bike and all you know about bikes is stuff learnt watching videos on youtube. Yes, there are loads of videos on youtube of 600's speedos reading 170 but if you would spend a few moments on google you will find that they are all around the 155 mark and even the R1's top speed isnt over 180MPH. Also dont get all internet gangsta on me and learn to type, dick.

  • @airsofter2247 hey I told u ) where do u live ? I wanna talk to you since you don;t understand me ) you Americans can say shit on people just through the internet or when u in group against one person ) your noise is dick !!!) My friend own cbr1000rr with moods and he made 215 on it ) pretty sure that stock one can make 180) and r6 can make over 170 ) if i'll remove limiter on my si I can make 160 lol ))) not everything that written is true )) words don;t mean anything until prove it !!

  • @lanlug Im not american, in English! And a cbr1000rr even with mods cant hit 215 mph, fact! just tell me where he got that number from?

  • @airsofter2247 I'm telling you the numbers from personal experience, If you did read my previous comment then once again!! My friend (lives in California) owned 2007 cbr1000rr, he freaks of bikes, can make different tricks on it, very professional. I'm not forcing you to believe me. If you saying that bike can't go that fast then give me an evidence that bike can't go over 180 or more.

  • @airsofter2247 Having riden and raced (for fun) I can assure you that ANY sportbike is capable of speeds in excess of 200 miles per hour however from the factory there are none that I know of. It is highly impractical to extend the top speed that far because in order to do so one must change the sprocket ratios. drop the number of teeth on the rear sprocket = Higher topspeed at the sacrifice of acceleration. increase teeth = blazing acceleration and lower top speed <-- (great for wheelies)

  • @lanlug It doesn't matter where someone lives FFS. A stupid person is stupid everywhere.

    Now...

A stock CBR1000 will hit around 170 (not that top speed matters, its really all about handling and acceleration). A modified Cibby built for drag racing should be able to hit 215, but those would be pretty boring to ride.

  • @airsofter2247 And they will. Even if you calibrate it perfectly the slip of the rear tyre will cause a few % less actual speed than what is shown..

  • @poika im not trying to down play triumphs or any thing but just for my own personal knowledge, a gsx-r 600 has 4 cylinders where as the daytona has 3, even though they are both 600cc, do you think triumph is faster even with one less cylinder ?

  • @salchipapa8000 I'm pretty sure most dyno results are showing the Triumph having more power than the suzuki... it has one less cylinder but 76cc more (the suzuki is 599cc)

  • @salchipapa8000 the daytona is actually a 675cc. just because a bike has one more cylinder doesnt mean anything. it just means that with that much displacement they are using slightly bigger sized pistons. majority of the power comes from the tuning of valves high compression pistons cam shaft things like that. these bikes are almost the same in power but triumph has a very elite group of tuners on their team whove had pleanty of experience with racing.

  • you look like an idiot

  • you look like a huge cock sucker

  • And you ARE a faggot.

    End yourself.

  • "safe slow motion " :):)

  • These guys arent very good riders

  • @liamms89 Have you ever ridden on a salted road at 3 degrees? They're ridiculously slippery, they're going about as fast as they can around those corners.

  • @liamms89 well.. just above 0 degrees outside and salty and wet road.. what did you expect? Aggressive cornering on that road would have landed them in the ditch...

  • @liamms89 They are riding cautiously because of the road conditions they mentioned.

  • and if you heard, it's in the rain which increases friction between tire and surface. increased friction = slower speed

  • rain doesn't increase friction, it decreases it. Which slows it down. lol

  • 156 mph didn't the R6 2007 model do 170 mph in stock?

  • wow the UK is a shithole for motorcycle riding.

at least here in australia its 95% clear weather

  • This was filmed clearly in winter, but yeah the weather over here is pretty shit. Can make it more fun though when your screamin along country roads in the pissing rain, makes it a more challenging experience.

  • your forgetting the 45 degree days where it's too hot for life and it's windy and dusty as fuck but other than that agreed :)

  • tell me about it.... sheeesh!

  • how would u know ever been riding here?

  • i know because everywhere u hear about england being cold, dark, rainy all of the time. We just finished winter and it only rained like twice. Other than that all clear blue skies. And no, we dont have 45 degree days.... and its hardly dusty and windy.. i dont know where u've been living nug.

  • that sounds so good.

i heard that triumphs are like ducati.

expensive as fuck to maintain and are always in the shop

  • teh old ones are well known for it, the new ones are much better they are no better or worse than jap bikes now, much the same as ducatis.

  • God this man is the most droney, boring person i have ever met...

  • Exept you've never met him.

  • just saw theres a leo vince upgrade...

    nevermind..

  • do they sell aftermarket exhaust systems for the daytona??

  • The japanese bikes are very nice, capable machines...It's just that you don't see many Triumphs... It's nice to ride knowing that you're not going to see another one passing you!

  • Can you get one in the US?

  • yea i dont know where you live but my dads shop sells them

  • Yup! just got a 2010 SE from Haps in Sarasota Florida. I love it.

  • I'm from San Francisco, California.

  • Triumph are greatly underrated, they are forced out of popularity by the Jap bikes but I think people should notice what a great make Triumph are

  • I think buell has the same problem

  • Buell, as compared to? Only thing of comparable type and engine size would be a monster And the Buell has innovative ideas but cheap build quality..... Triumph makes some awesome bikes though. D675 and Speed Triple FTW! lol

  • my 09 ninja zx-6r is better

  • really? really? you think your jap crap es better then the triumphs? ha yeah right!

  • I'm a zx6 fan and have owned a couple but in all the tests the daytona beats all the jap 4's.... saying that, if i woke up tomoro and found either on my drive i'd be happy!!

  • later 350z hello 675-D

  • this will be my next. in 'tornado red'

  • that bike is sexy.

  • It makes sense that manufacturers try to improve their modell every year, so the new models will be better than the old ones. Unless you suck at being a manufacturer and bring a worse model on the market. So it makes sense that new bikes are better: DUHHHH!

  • 2009 675 SE is the illest, white with blue accents! it's on my list of next to buy!

  • bored from the voice...

  • 2009 675 shore is good,look Hot & fast.

I love it in jet black,COOL.

    Good on ya Triumph.

  • MCN has rubbish reviews...

  • his voice is totaly imotionless ...i almost fell asleep great bike though

  • Nice monotone review

  • I agree with you

  • But WHY DID THEY GET RID OF THE BIKE IN NEON BLUE?! :(

  • I think the Triumph Daytona 675 (2008) is better and the bike looks more nice than the model of 2009

Triumph Daytona 675 (2008) is the best

  • Good review on the difference between the 08 & 09 models..

definitely helped me in my decision..

  • Holy fuck what the fuck is this?

DAMNIT!!! MCN gets even more crapier than "fith gear" ! I used to LOVE their videos, but they are not COMPETENT!!!! THey SUCK i would say!

...sad , it makes me angry!! waste of time!

not EVERY video of them, but they get more and more!!!

  • I read your comment before i watched the video and i just thought u were an angry person.

Having watched it I agree, that was shite! whoever it was is a terrible presenter!

  • i like the way they have braided brake lines , not like all jap bikes. nice touch

  • Uh, top speed in the mid 150s...i think not. I've had my '08 up to nearly that in 5th gear and hadn't even kicked up into 6th yet. Crappy test...

  • Speedometers are mostly inaccurate after 100 mph, however not to that extent. What you're reading is probably accurate, but just keep in mind this is what the factory says...kind of like how all German manufacturers came to a "gentleman's agreement" that they will limit their vehicles via software to 155 mph...often, you can get to the cars max because the software is never activated...its weird.

  • poo test, not worth doin it in wet weather, ive had 164mph out of my daytona unless the speedo is out

  • boring voice

what a load of predictable jargen too, how can they make a judgement about nimbleness and handling when the roads were so wet, cold and greasy they didn't even dare lean more than 15degrees...

these guys are probably paid to say "this years bike is so much better"

(i'm not saying it isn't but these guys would say it was whatever they thought)

    not fooling anyone you fools!

  • boring droning voice on what should be an interesting video. I have a 2008 se which to me looks better than the 2009 model because of the colour, and as for the small improvements not so sure I'm a good enough rider to notice them ! Still a bloody nice bike

  • the hell with the 675 i want to see daytona 1100 already so i can trade my 675 in. don't get me wrong i love my 675, but if a 1100 comes out i'm all over that.

  • triumph truly uncomparable

  • I miss tip top Trev's shit hot tips.

  • I disagree i think this is a very thorough and informative vid, some of mcns vids are awesome check out the new r1 vs Blade test.

  • I have to agree Boring!! MCN should keep to paper based reviews, i think camera work is beyond them.

  • This guy could put a brick wall to sleep.

  • I thought triumph would've added a single sided swing arm in 09...

  • Comment removed by author

  • damn..that blue is beautiful...

  • yah i love the blue more too

  • Very nice bike. I loved the 08 bike so I will have to see if I can test ride an 09 and see how much different they are. Still love my CBR1000rr though.

  • I love Triumph!

    I've got a 2004 Daytona 600.

My only complaint is that replacement parts are hard to come by.

Sweet exhaust note, too. My D6 has a Micron Can which makes it sing in 3rd around 6-7K.

  • nice bike...almost bought the 675 when it first came out. Gotta love an extra 76cc's! And that three-cylinder sounds like sex! Anyone know if this bike has a slipper?

  • No slipper for 09...

  • the cameraman and the sound got better, thank you

  • Who WHOO!! im subscrober 7301! Stay tuned for my vids of my 05 GSXR 750...

  • should have shipped them somewhere warm and dry and cained them! get the mcn editor in his pocket boys!

    tight twat!

  • When did you leave Performance Bikes?

I still have my Video Nasty VHS copies!

"Put tit's on you back and I might be

    interested... Honestly." PMSL!!!

  • he should definitely narrate an audiobook sometime.

    Still, such lovely machines :)

  • Some people.

  • Is it impossble to test a bike in that country when it is NOT WET ? An occasional dry day doesn't come along and they could test then? How worthless are speed runs and 0 to 60 tests are done in the freaking rain???

  • im a brit n this is mcn, our weekly bike paper and probs the most upto date paper around as regards anything bikeing, as a country, ive read before that we buy more sportsbikes than anywhere else in the world, this is a new bike, thats why its here, performance figures are not relevent as theres only minor difference's, and the weather, yer out n the suns shining, then it chucks it down, you just get on with it lol, it only improves yer rideing skills, its just giveing you a first look.

  • Brits may buy more sport bikes per capita then the rest of the world but the US leads in total sport bike sales. Acording to their annual corporate report Suzuki sold more bikes in California alone last year then in the UK.

  • cheers for that, but consider california is about 10 times the size of us, and the gixer died in 05 over here, the K 6/7/8 were a bit shite to be honest so suzuki's sale's over here dropped off, now im not knocking you here cause they are a descent bike, but you guy's seem to be die hard gsxr fan's, just look at yer AMA' no gixer mean's no chance, probs the reason for suzuki's stats.
