  • i think its safer to fell with a 50cc or higher saw and then cut up the felled tree with a smaller saw. i use my husky 142 and my emergency, tiny mccullac 16" saw for branches. sure theyve kicked back but a lot less than a bigger saw. My only thing on this vid was, he never gets into "what to do about it" just what it is... first thing is to stand to the side of the saw, not over it.

  • Chain brake surely would have come on in the situation showed in the beginning of the video?

  • As the man said: "Kickback Happens" I'm sold!

  • this deffintly happens alot but its much more dangerus with a large 100cc saw rather then like a 30cc

  • I have actually stuck my chainsaw into a log to show a fellow worker about kicbacks, he thought I was crazy, told him, I know what I am doing, I am a log home builder, do a lot of plunging into logs

  • I want to go to this guys house and drink tea by the fire and ask him about the war

  • @Fabbydabbydoozy i doubt he would like talking about loosing.

  • i experienced smoething like this at 6:19 but from above and down. and then the chainsaw flipped so that the chainsaw almost got to my toes. that was scary.

  • I cut a lot of fire wood and tree(all with safety gear Chaps helmet gloves logging boots) my buddy takes all the log stacks them all up in a large pile and cut them then pushes them off to the side, i refuse to do that iv never had a saw kick back as much as it did when cutting that way

  • Hi 20 years plus experance with saws and i nearly split my forehead open like a melon .I got kickback, the chain end came in contact with a secondary piece of wood whilst sawing tree limps. The saw jumped up missing my forehead by millametres.I know that day i was blessed. My advise concentrate ,and be sure to carry a mobile phone, could save your life

  • this is so good that i will make my dad watch this

  • great video

  • well spoken man could listen to him all day ,,,,,,,safety first lads and lasses,,,,it only takes one second to ruin yourself,,,as my father would say here in ireland every bit of timber is a triple A

    1 ACCESSMENT (the area )

2 ABILITY (do you know what you are doing)

3 AVOID (if some thing does not look right)

the time it took you to read this comment someone some where has had a kickback

    BE SAFE PEOPLE

  • They should make a chainsaw that would automatically shuts off when the chain sees an abrupt change in speed. The saw will still kickback, but at least, the chain has stopped.

  • i had a saw kick at me once luckly i was limbing and had my hand on the wrap of the handle its hurt my wrist something bad the whole rest of the day i had my eye on that nose

  • this happened to me i got really lucky and only grazed my thumb, it scared the shit out of me and i hope it never happens again cause i might bot be so lucky next time

  • If you want to significantly reduce kickback, you are NOT suppose to cut wood with the tip or the top of the blade.

  • thank you for the usefull information

    Regards fron Mexico

  • Excellent video. Cutting is fun and liberating, but i don't think there is enough videos on safety. From clearing up after an ice storm or the pro making a living felling, staying alive and keeping the same amount of limbs you came with is the goal. Hats off to all of you that keep us in lumber.

  • lol, of course the guy cuts himself in the neck, the worst possible case.

  • You should ask your family and friends who use chainsaws if they know about the "kickback corner". I am a strong 240 pound man, but today when I touched the kickback corner to a three inch branch, I was helpless. Before I could blink, the bar flew at me and cut a gash in my helmet.

  • great vid
