  • Would like to hear the same video and the same lament but without any other effect sounds of bombing and extra

  • per se. Should resources be used ensuring the likes of the Borders General Hospital has a Gaelic language plan etc? I'd say no. There is no practical use or need for it and the area has no Gaelic heritage in real historical times anyway. We are a Scots speaking area. However that doesn't mean I don't support the promotion of Gaelic in other ways particularly in its heartland.

  • I am a very proud Irishman, a lot of Irish men served in the Queens regiments and were very proud to do so. We Irish have no tradition like the British do, its a shame, we do not treat our ex servicemen as well as our British comrades do. God Bless all Irish men and women who served with the British forces to free Europe. People, good people, never forget xxx

  • Why has such a BEAUTIFUL lament, been spoiled by politics on these comments, just ruins things, I have also played this at the cenotaph in whitehall, and proud to remember those that fought for the freedom of this country and still are today

  • I love playing this tune every Remembrance Day. So proud to be a Canadian and part of the British Commonwealth ^^

  • @poster108 And we are so proud that you are our brothers and sisters in arms God bless Canada!

  • CHEERS FROM CANADA, thank you for standing up when called

  • good on you rockingdude you play your part that is all that is asked

  • War is evil, my greatest respects to those who serve, & pay the ultimate sacrifice, on our behalf.

  • My Father served in the Australian SAS,(Rodney Anderson) . A lone piper played this at his service. My greatest respect to all those who have given for their King, Queen and country.

  • does anyone know the name of the drum major here?

  • Praise God we survived whatever conflict we were at, we were all facing the same way.

ex Navy , Northern Ireland, Beirut, Falklands 82 and of course those who judge us

  • GSTQ

  • Could any one tell me what the soldier at the begining shouts ? Many thanks. Best from Spain.

  • @clustergarde Hiya pal, he shouts massed band's stand at ease, then says stand easy...

  • I have lost three of my schoolmates this year in afghanistan, it was a very moving experience on remembrance sunday...

  • I was there on parade in full kit as part of the TA guard and its the most moving thing I have ever experienced! God bless our fallen!

  • We will remember them

  • So much Pain, suffering, defiance, Valiance, Gallantry & Pride... All to be brought to it's knees by the namesake of an old enemy- Cameron.

Thankyou to everybody in our armed forces- from the Gurkhas to the Black Watch, the SBS to the REME...

You Gave Your All and you still do.

    We will remember you.

  • What a beautiful video, and thank you to our Canadian soldiers and all commonwealth soldiers for all they have done and continue to do for us.

  • @knittingnickel9 Here Here.

  • The Royal Blackwatch Regiment of Canada, three cheers to the Commonwealth lads, you've done yourselves proud, its time for a rest.

  • Perhaps it might be an idea to make any future politician do some 'green time' before they can enter parliament. Then the breed that infest Westminster would do their damnedest to prevent conflict for fear of the chattering class dying out. You could count the number of medals on the chests of Her Majesty's government in 2008 on one hand, and still have five fingers left........ It makes you weep.

  • we will remember them.

  • simply why cant we all just get along

  • rest in peace you brave men and women alongside with Almighty God. We will never forget you and the sacrifice you made for our civilized world! Words cannot express the grief and the sadness that we all feel deep in our hearts and souls. Now rest you heros, rest until we'll see each other again.

    A final Salute from Germany

  • they will be remembered

  • Honor, courage, memories, heros...

  • have we not learnt anything from this conflicts the only thing we have learnt is that they only bring sadness and lose and scares on history but that is what history is in a way

  • @jakz104 and what about those that would do harm unto others? Should we allow them free rein?

  • Very empowering, overpowering, somber.

  • cunt

  • Comment removed

  • @outspokendestroyer

    You're a coward behind a computer screen. that's why you won't..

Too pathetic to do anything except take snide shots at those who have made sacrifices.

  • is there not a vidoe like this one wer ppl aint arguing

  • Very moving indeed. Lest We Forget

  • sweetiecowpie should move on also. What drivel. You use concrete for footings you idiot.

  • Are you takeing the fuckin piss you cunt??!

  • I'm assuming that is ironic sarcasm?

  • await a bullet fucktard

  • shush

  • I'm afraid that as long as there are humans there will be war. We've arguably already had the first war of resources...Oil.

The more the human population grows the greater demand for resources.... War is a necessary evil, most species have a battle on their hands why should humans be any different?

  • War, is not, a human thing other than derives and directed from pride. We are creatures f compassion, not hate.

  • First war of resources? I don't think the oil war is the first war of resources. But, I agree with your first statement

  • I love my country greatly, but to me Remembrance Sunday is about remembering ALL those who were killed in war, wether they be ourselves or our ememies, from colonial wars, world wars or modern days wars, we all suffer in war. Lest we forget.

  • Your a fucking twat, if we don't remember we'll go through the same horror again.

  • This feels the same whether you are Scots, English, Irish, Welsh, Iranian, North Korean, Chinese or whatever the fuck you are - it recalls war as a completely useless Human endeavour!

  • If it was unless the idea wouldn't be entertained. The fact is those unwlling to wage war will always be at the mercy of those who are and that's why we have an army

  • Typical - bring that into an act of remembrance!

  • @jimusgrimus Almost. Its a lament for the largest, best trained, best equipped Scottish army, that was slaughtered by a smaller, worse equipped, worse trained, scratch English army. This had been raised by the Queen while The king was away in France with his best troops. The battle occured at Flodden which is in Yorkshire, several hundred miles into England which the Scots had invaded.

  • @SvenTviking Almost. Flodden was fought at Branxton in Northumberland, about 4 miles into England. It wasn't really an invasion, simply a raid to divert English resources away from France. The grand total of the "invasion" was a destroyed castle.

Nor were the English entirely poorly equipped or trained- the Lord Admiral's 1200 marines were far superior to any Scots soldier, who were (in the main) border levies. The deciding factor between the two sides being leadership of course.

  • @BertrumPantyshield I would despute that it was a "Raid" with the entire Scots nobilty and the king present. You're right on the geography tho, my mistake. But The quality of the Scots army was generally better and they held and fought from the high ground. If it was a raid, they should have legged it back into Scotland at the first sign of resistance.

  • @SvenTviking I consider it a raid purely because of the slow rate of advance. In the time it took the Scots to advance around 100 miles, the English had advanced 500. There was almost no sense of urgency to the thing. Smacking of James' unwillingness to commit; caught between the Holy League and the Auld Alliance.

Furthermore, several earlier scouting parties had been repulsed by English troops, and around one third of James' army is thought to have deserted before the battle.

  • @BertrumPantyshield Also, James IV did send a notice, one month before of his intention to invade. This was to do with the Chivalric code. He destroyed one castle, Norham, and captured two others.

  • Gaudd needs to know that this is about remembering the young lads who died for us. Politics takes a back seat on Rememberence day. I didn't believe in hitler's politics but the young lads who died in his despotic name need remembrance too.

  • Shame on anyone who puts negative comments on here.

i shall not be drawn into a debate but if you dont like Great Britain, then take a Ferry or a plane and live elsewhere...

  • Crawl back to your bog. Tit.

  • fuck you, HOW DARE YOU!!!

Thank you for you for you're service, we appreciate you're efforts.

  • @Gillmeister2465 Not quite the same but I'm proud to be a cadet for the ATC and be able to pay respects to fallen heroes

  • @Gillmeister2465 Well there's no doubt that the Black Watch has some famous battle honours and my mums cousins husband was in them during WW2. However it angers me that the English have used the bravery of Scotsmen as cannon fodder. Imagine taking the Kings shilling and going to fight in the Crimea only to return to deiscover that your family have been evicted in preference to sheep. Now thats a big thanks for fighting for 'your country'.

  • @silverarrowslk Yeah, except that the Highland clearances were carried out by Scottish landlords acting in accordance with Scottish law. Try not to let your bigotry lead you too far from reality (waste of my fingers typing that I know, but hey-ho)...

  • @BobTheMunificent I'm stating the facts! Ever heard of the Duke Of Cumberland? The English effectivly destroyed the clan system and the allegiance the chief had to his people. Bigotry? The biggest bigots are in Westminster

  • @silverarrowslk Get Educated,,,,,,,,, there was never was a Clan System, you been reading to much of a Scots Fuckwit >> Scott who wrote for the Hanoverian Monarchs for Cash, there was never a Kilt until it could be woven on a lancashire mill in the 19th Cent

  • @keirfree There never was a clan system? I’ll dispense with insults unlike you. Sir Walter Scott embellished certain aspects of highland life but there defiantly was a clan system and he didn’t invent the kilt. Originally there was the Feileadh Bhreacain and the Feileadh Mor but not the modern kilt we see today

  • @keirfree and please use a Scottish language, in returning your response, either Scots, or Doric, will do but not that Bull shit,so called Gaelic, its Irish No more than 1.3% os Scots ever spoke Gaelic,

you have been reading to much Fairy tales,, Oh Mac,,, this prefix never meant Son off, all it meant, it was your Feudal Warlords group.

Please cut the Romantic Crap ! and See Scotland for what it really was,Up until the Enlightenment, it was no better than todays Afghanistan, Feudal

  • @keirfree "No more than 1.3% os Scots ever spoke Gaelic," That is just a silly statement with no basis in fact. You tend to find that people who actively campaign on behalf of the Scots language care for the state of Gaelic too, and vice versa.

  • @gaconnochie Yes ! read the Scottish Stats, and, not in my experience, has Scots speakers, advocated, the continuing use of a language that is irrelevant in 2011.

As Demonstrated by Edinburgh City Council, who threw out a stupid motion to, introduce Gaelic signs.

  • @keirfree You said that no-more than 1.3% of Scots of 'ever spoke Gaelic' which is a ludicrous statement. That is what I commented on. I also said that people who 'actively campaign on behalf of the Scots language" care for the status of Gaelic too. That tends to be true right from Chris Grieve down to modern campaigners and members of the SLA. As to signs etc well just because you don't agree with how money being spent on Gaelic is spent it doesn't mean you beleive money shouldn't be spent on

  • @gaconnochie Go get Educated,, Gaelic is about as Native to Scotland, as is haggis, both are seen as Celtic, which is not the original language, or make up of the People of Scotland,

Try Pictish as a race and a language, Breton/Iberian in Origin, then the Northern European languages from witch we take our Doric language, add the Germanic ,, Friesland then you have what has been spoken for more than 3 000 years

Words like Cloot Norwegian,,, toon Friesland Bairn, Swedish, gang, Germanic

  • @keirfree "Go get Educated,, Gaelic is about as Native to Scotland, as is haggis" Stop throwing in deflections. Again you said that Gaelic has never been spoken by more than 1.3% of Scots. That is complete and utter nonsense. Even within reasonably modern times it is nonsense. The ancestors of both modern Gaelic and Scots can be traced at least to the middle of the first millenium AD which makes them pretty traditional here. Though that wasn't my point anyway!

  • @silverarrowslk See what I mean: a complete waste of my fingers...

Oh, go read a history book. The biggest lament *I* have is that so many Scots know so little of their own real history. People like you are no different than the English Defence League or National Front in England - blaming others for their own life's failures. With English nationalists it's "the bloody immigrants", with Scottish nationaists, it's "the bloody English". Same song, same mentality, same tiresome bullshit.

  • @BobTheMunificent I know my countries history thanks very much and you are in error. However I’m not going to carry on an internet argument with you nor take the time to explain or debate as it’s just not worth it.

  • @silverarrowslk Numpty the Biggest, Bigots of all were the Scottish land owners ie the Highland Chiefs, that drove, their own crofters of the lands so they could farm sheep

    Tit !

  • @silverarrowslk The Highland Clearances were not carried out by the English but by aristocratic Scottish landowners.

  • @silverarrowslk

Wanker, what about brave Englishmen who died, blame the Scottish lairds for loss of land it also happened to the English men who came home to find their whole village gone because it spoiled the masters view, don't confuse how the rich the world over treat the poor.

  • @hetrodoxly 'Wanker'? Yeah I can tell straight off that you're an articulate educated fellow and I should take on board your comments.

  • @silverarrowslk

Some words just have to be used and i couldn't think of a better word for describing you and your ilk.

  • @silverarrowslk Do you live in some, Tartan Shortbread Box, ?

Ask the Miners of old from Fyffe , or the weavers, or the men from the Fishing Fleets whom fished, just to survive

about your Concepts of being Scottish, they will Fa'e aboot at yer Glaiketness

    Numpty

  • Long may she reign

  • God save the Queen and all who serve her

  • @greg10a I do agree!
