I breed those and they are superior pets and are wonderful companion animals. I dont believe large toucans make good pets and I have experience with them as well but these small toucans (aracaris) are wonderful animals and do very well in the home.

..birds don't HAVE fur... and their FEATHERS don't get ratty from dirty hands. Birds are meticulous about preening themselves. Those birds feathers aren't ratty at all.

the actual way to calm birds is to rub behind their neck. if you do it on small birds they fall asleep.
