i am thoroughly loving this depeche mode night, they had a lot of good songs..thanks for posting. 80s and 90s music, cant be touched by modern stuff..glad VH1 has the classic channel
I can remember listening to this song when i was 15 or so. I think that was when I fell in love with this band. My grandfather, bless his soul, bought me the Violator album. The door was opened...
This was the first Depeche Mode song that I ever heard. People used to rip on me in elementary school for liking Depeche Mode. Over 20 years later and I'm still a huge fan.
@ici2k643 lol, was j/k I know they aren't gay just trying to poke fun at the assclowns on here who were saying they were gay because they are insecure about their own masculinity
Funny thing, I thought they where Crap(*gay*) when I was a kid and then around 21ish I grew up and I fell in love with them and I've been an UBER fan ever since. Let the assholes grow up or fuk off to their horrible music or eat shite.
Depeche Mode is some of the music that god listens to when he's taking time off.
@ryanjofre It's fun to imagine God listening to two of my favorite Depeche Mode songs. "Policy of Truth" is about the suffering a person goes through if they adopt a policy of honesty. "People Are People" is about how little sense it makes to hate a person you've never even met. You'd think God would appreciate messages like those.
Jesus are you trying to debate Semantics with me? I did Have bad taste in Music when I was a Kid(somewhat) from outer Influences(School Mates who listened to Rap of the day mostly). I use to make fun of my best friends brother for having Depeche Mode & Duran Duran Posters on his wall.
Then I got Older and more Mature and I(Ironicly) fell in love with Depeche Mode and have been a diehard fan ever since.
@napalmocean Gay(as in homosexuality) doesn't mean happy.. Gay people are definitely not happy in this world trust me.. quite the opposite.. but as humans we will find what makes us happy.. drugs lol
HEY-I Have a Question for the Mass Audience here-there's a sound effect the band uses at 15 seconds, 19 seconds, 24 seconds, and 28 seconds, and continues through the song that was used on a Sci-Fi TV show or a Movie-can anyone in the audience remember what show or movie it was used on ???? I'm thinking maybe a show like "Charmed" or one like it?
@Awakening516 muse couldn't even carry the equipment of DM... they (DM) are the gods of electronic...well ok Kraftwerk too and Joy DIvision but anyway DM RULE

I see alot of Depeche Mode fans on here that are sad that music like this doesnt exist anymore...well, they need to open their ears once again to the underground cuz there's plenty of good music coming out the indie rock genre... Plenty of bands to fall in love with, that are carrying the tradition of bands like DM and NO
@geminisworld75 Arctic Monkeys are great, Interpol i've seen twice in concert, Crystal Castles,The Submarines,The Drums(which remind me alot of new order),Editors,Foals,The Horrors,Klaxons,Louis XIV,Metric,Miike Snow,Lykke Li,The National,Passion Pit,Peter Bjorn and John,Cold War Kids,Born Ruffians,Ra Ra Riot,Razorlight and too many others... I left alot out because i thought you may already know them because of their popularity, so i tried to dig deep into my music library lol
I remember being in college listening to this so loudly the people next to me were complaining about this noise... that was 1990... man I want to go back to that time and listen even louder!! DM FOREVER!!! I fu**ing love this band!!
I DON'T KNOW WHY BUT THIS POPPED POPPED INTO MY HEAD TODAY! LOL! THEY ARE A GREAT BAND. SEEN THEM IN CALIFORNIA! KEPT SPILLING MY DRINK ACCIDENTALLY ON THE GUY IN FRONT OF ME. POOR GUY, I WAS SILLY - AWSOME CONCERT!!!!!!
Incredible! Ya know, I'm into my 80's metal, hair band stuff, but what I love about Depeche Mode was they had the perfect formula for being accepted by every genre of music. You can be into country, rap, hip hop, rock... It doesn't matter. They're loved by all. Fuckin EPIC group!!
I'm Candy and I have a new Channel about me going on all kinds of Crazy Advertures. It's gonna be wild. You never know what will happen. So Sub me and add me as a Friend. Watch and enjoy. Thanks loves, Candy.
I listen to their albums religiously DEPECHEMODE are so awesome and their Music totally change a whole generation or in theat progression ,they are so kool never failed to Us the Fans...Love ye DEPECHE MODE , "...never again it's what you sworn that time before''
This song brings back so many memories....I LOVE music from the 80's! Depeche Mpde was one of my favorite bands along with The Smiths, The Cure, Billy Idol...I could go on & on. I really miss that kind of music...makes me alittle sad that we don't have that kind of music now. Best band that makes me feel that type of emotion through their music now is Cold Play.
@weirdscience85 I couldn't agree more. Coldplay was by far the best popular band of the 2000's. There's also a lot of great indie bands with a similar 80's post-punk sound, like British Sea Power, Fjord Rowboat, etc., but Coldplay is the only band being played on Top 40 radio who still sound good.
@weirdscience85 No problem! "Back to the Start" is actually called "The Scientist". My favorite Coldplay songs are "Speed of Sound" and "Talk", but I like the ones you mentioned too.
@Jmswlks Yes, they were even mentioned in 40 Year Old Virgin lol.. my favourites were the ones they played the most on the radio which were Clocks, Yellow & Back to the Start (I think thats what its called).. others in the 2000s I liked were The Killers, Jakalope, K-os, The Gorillaz, Melissa McLelland & of course OutKast
No no no DM and New Order are both on the same level of legendary. How many bands can survive the loss of a lead singer/lyricist (NO) and a songwriter(DM) and go on to have the kind of success they did??? not a great deal too many
I wish DM had the balls to put out a video for this song that actually had something to do with what the song was about. Why is Dave Gahan trying to front like he's straight in this video? Is anyone buying that? I mean, come on, really?
these new bands now are wack ass fuck late 80's and 90's stuff like this I LOVE ....the smiths, the cure, depeche mode, stone roses, oasis cranberries, the sundays, the verve, .....YEAH HEARD................
I'm suddenly consumed with a bone-deep yearning for vaguely edgy late-80s-early-90s black-and-white cinematography. You'd think it's about time for that shit to get hip again, right?
@Catmint1971 Its not that at all. They talk about how some people have attempted to seem accepting but do not do so. "Never again is what you swore, the time before". Its more of an observation of human nature.
"HOLY SHIT! I heard this song on the radio a month ago and i was ready to kill someone to find out who this was, WINNING!"
ThndrMadMaxd, "HOLY SHIT!!!! The SAME EXACT THING happened too me at the Halloween party I was at about a week ago and I had the exact same predicament! And now I've found it too! BI-WINNING!!!!
I was born, raised and still live in the same neighborhood this video was almost entirely shot. Lower East Side Manhattan, New York City. At 24, looking back at it, I dont know how I never realized it until now.
Depeche Mode reminds me of my dad, he used to play them in the car when I was just a kid, we would do a paper route together. When I hear this song the flood gates of memories pour out!
Just british, what a qualifier.
