  • That's quite interesting. An update to give a worldwide review will be a fantastic idea.

This is important since the device is to be distributed across the globe.

  • Harder on the eyes? I find the Kindle to be much easier on the eyes than paper books. In fact, it has doubled the length of time i'm able to read in one sitting.

  • Hey people good collection of kindle books i found just visit :

    warezsokol ( dot )com /search / label / kindle

  • @emkcus1 if you live in dearborn michigan you can get free books on the kindle at a library that i cant remeber the name of... my uncle lives there so its easy to get them because im not far from him... its not that the kindle sucks you just need to have good resorces :)

  • Kindle sucks. YOu can buy a book at Nook, barnes and noble, for one tenth the price at Kindle

  • I love my Kindle! but really you should have the device at least

  • DOES THE 139 DOLLAR ONE HAVE A BACKLIGHT (FOR READING IN THE DARK)

  • @MajorBigglesworth1

That's very bad for your eyes (reading in the dark)

  • Comment removed

  • @MajorBigglesworth1 Sadly, no. But Amazon has a good reason for that. The reason why is because removing the backlight doesn't strain your eyes. Also, it improves the contrast so you can read it in the sun or something! So I definitely recommend you buy it still. Also, it requires light to read but it requires 35% less lighting that you need to read a physical book!

  • @MajorBigglesworth1 NO. But that's good because a backlight makes it harder to read for a long time. You can get cases with lights in them, or just use a clip-on book light. :)

  • @MajorBigglesworth1 No it does not, however you can buy a 2 dollar book light if you want to read in the dark or low light areas.

  • @aalova barnes and noble came out with a new nook. its in color but its 250 dollars.

  • i just bought the nook but i cnt use it yet cuz its a christmas present from my parents...

  • @beadlesbieber1995 You said that "YOU" bought your nook, but you say that it's a present from your parents....

  • @NormacHC i meant that i was with my mom when she bought but i couldnt use it cuz it was a present from my parents.

  • @beadlesbieber1995 wut-.-You bought it but ur; parents are ''giving'' it to you?

  • @Jezzeboy1928 for the last time. i ddnt mean that it wuz me specifically buying it. i meant i wuz with my mom when she bought it for me.

  • I have the Kindle. I is in no way dangerous for your eyes.

And I would just like to say to all old-school-book lovers to think about how many trees and fuel and energy are saved by e-books. Save the planet ....or be... romantic and stubborn?

  • I have the Kingle Gen 1. I kind of want a new one for the larger storage and the longer battery life and of course the new screen. I use it nearly every day. I would highly recommend the Kindle to any serious readers or anyone who wants to read more. If you read a lot the iPad is a bad idea (aside from the children's books) The Kindle is like a bunch of books all in your hand. I can read from the screen for HOURS with no eye strain, headache or anything and even can read in a car (not driving!)

  • this would be great to store manuals for software and outboard gear this could be a great quick reference guide to my music and editing stuff as well as the books i read rather then loads of shelves full of heavy books

  • what is the difference between wifi only and the 3G? thanks

  • what is the difference between wifi only and the 3G?

  • Because I like to read photography books alot - I'd need a colour screen. However the ipad is too heavy and the glossy screen is a ridiculous idea - too reflective. So basically .... I'm still lookng for the ideal e-book reader.

  • Omg, I totally love the new changes, it's lighter, and what we love the most, it's more expensive, how can you not pay more for something that isn't even in color, don't even mention color, do we really anything else than black and white, color is overrated. Pictures in books should only look black and white, why do we need detail anyways. Thanks amazon for another great product we greatly have use for, thanks. Btw, nice touch, in not having touch screen, why botter with that. We love you kindle!

  • @Ryuuken24 LOL most books usually aren't colour, and LCDs are no where near as comfortable to read as E-ink displays, which are like paper and CAN show lots of detail actually......however, colour e-ink should be here very soon ;)

  • I love reading real books too, but there are often times when I read I come across a word I am unfamilar with. Having the ability to instantly find out what the word means as I'm reading has really heightened my love for reading in new ways. Also, I have been reading both the Kindle and regualr books, and the I don't feel any eye strain whatsover with the Kindle. If you love to read novels, it really is the best out there.

  • come on, you don't even have the actual device to show us.. what are you talking about?

  • do you need wifi when your reading a book that you already bought?

  • Glad to see Apple get fucked over.

  • Ordered it yesterday! I have enjoyed the Kindle 2 but always thought the contrast-resolution was lacking. This apparently will be a huge improvement. Ordered the WiFi version, don't see the 3G for this device being a big deal (for ordering books etc.). Also like the battery life and size of this one, looking forward to getting it.

  • "We even back up your last page read and annotations, so when you re-download to the device you can pick up where you left off with all of your notes still in place". And a good day to you, too, Big Brother!

  • @oYoYebutu LMAO.

  • I really give my books a workout (non-fiction only for me, I hate fiction). I annotate in the margins, underline important passages, checkmarks. I read how this new Kindle lets you annotate and highlight, plus Twitter passages to remember later. That's a deal-maker! I'm in college and appreciate not having to lug heavy books if I don't have to. I also like how you can upload your documents, MP3s and photos. Wow, $139 ? SOLD!

  • @JesusManson323 How much are they paying you to say that? lol xD

  • I have one question: Buy buying "Wi-Fy Only" version, and not the 3G+Wi-Fi, what specifically in terms of product's services/quality will I lose out on? My main reason for considering Kindle purchase is to just use Wi-Fi and get articles, books, magazines etc... but, if I'm missing "3G" in Kindle, what will I lose out on? in terms of performance/services etc?

  • I had not considered buying Kindle at first but now w/ new price I am starting to...

  • YAY!! I just found out about this cuz it was on the back of my Time magazine issue today. I don't have an eReader yet, but I was thrilled that Nook made a wi-fi only version. I didn't buy it b/c I tried it out in the store and it was so slow. Well I don't mind the eReader price as much as the price of ebooks, tho (they are suuuuch a rip-off) and I'm waiting until page turning gets much faster.

  • thank you . very nice vid. i think i will buy it . i think ipad is too expensive and is more than a e-reader . but i already have a lot of book on my computer , and i will not be able to read them on my ipad. so for me is useless .

  • Do you think you could make a review on the Nook? it is barns & nobles e-reader as well :)

  • I think if someone only wants to read, this is fine and affordable. And you can read in bright light, which is awesome. The iPad has a glossy screen, which I hate. And I will always prefer real books, but if I was looking for an e-reader, I would buy the Nook from Barnes & Noble.

  • ipad is more expensive but it can do more and it has color lol

  • @Priscilla060 The big joke is the kindle dx ($489) vs ipad 16gn ($499) hahahaha. Seriously? A grey scale reader vs a color tablet computer???

  • @MrPowerring 189. not 489.......

  • @TeBeezY The Kindle DX is Price: $379.00 FREE Two-Day Shipping from Amazon <- cut and paste from site on 3 august.

  • @MrPowerring That's a price cut form the original $489.

  • I think this kindle is a waste of money.

  • @Chemmmn The cost of e-books will end up paying for itself. If there is a new bestseller you really want, instead of $35.00, you pay $9.99 which is less than paperback.

  • looks cool, but i prefer iPad

  • Yep, I think the same as you Dave,

  • lol i had to pause at 0:02 and fell out of my chair laughing

  • @fightingirishaholic he was thinking about his girlfriend

  • I just LOVE watching and listening to your "techie" videos!!!! Anything I see that's new on the market and I might be looking to get- I get on YT and sure enough, you have a review/spec explanation done. Thank You!!!!!!

  • As far as solely reading books the kindle wins cause it's alot easier on the eyes, especially after long periods. However, reading on the iPad is more entertaining. The user interface via accessing a book is beautifully layed out and interactions is just flawless. You can also access audio and video content within a book and that makes the experience even better. Also, there is a kindle app for the iPad in the app store so you get all the books offered on the kindle.

  • Looks like a calculator. It has zero cool-factor. =best.

  • Should I get the Nook or the new Kindle?

  • i think they are playing catch-up with apple

  • @connymacbook how exactly the old kindle was a far better reader than the ipad and the ibook store is nothing compare to the kindles

  • @nialld5 no thats not what i mean, i mean they are adding a web browser etc.

  • @connymacbook they arent trying to compete with the ipad only on reading which it beats the ipad on hands down

  • hey dave i know this is a bit off topic but is there any chance of getting some of your videos in HD, especially your reviews and unboxings? i know it is a good bit more hassle for you but it would benefit us a great deal......ill leave it in your capable hands........btw love the vidss........i have been with ya from the start......it's good to see a fellow irishman making his mark on the internet!............

  • Don't worry Dave. We are used to everyone only saying things about the US

  • might get this

  • Not A Bad Device!

  • £109 for the wifi and i think £149 for the wifi+3g one will launch in the UK on 27th August as well as the launch of the UK kindle ebook store !

  • @DRBUK the kindle price in the UK IS A WINNER PRICE ! i mean even im thinking of getting one just for YouTube video purposes ! the ipad on my eyes hurt ! BUT if you stick an antiglare sticker you can read on the ipad without any issues to your eyes ! ive yet to try it, just ordered some antiglare stickers, so will see ! but finally the UK customers dont get ripped off, we have great kindle prices and finally THE UK KINDLE EBOOK STORE ! august 27th !

  • @DRBUK What do you mean by "YouTube video purposes?"

  • @legr8est1234 Well I review products on YouTube, so I'll buy it for YouTube purposes, and hopefully the review will help others in there buying decision.

  • I think your spot on with this one Dave, sent from my iPad.

  • on my shopping list. might finally start reading books

  • I love the inclusion of a dictionary. Carrying that bulky book around is the death of me!

  • Looks good!

  • Why won't they just give up one the piece of crap

  • @Alextillom Not only is the Kindle quite good for reading ebooks, but it's good for, if nothing else, competition.

Giving up would be a really bad attitude to have when creating any sort of product. No one with that attitude ever got anywhere. Plus, the product is actually very successful. So, why give up if it's making them money?
