  • Great song.

  • Love listening to this song. Reminds me of my daddy before he passed away. dad loved ole Merle haggard. My boyfriend Rob absolutely loves it because of his best friend Earl loved and played this on his guitar...And then he put it on disk to play at Earl's funeral...

  • I love this song. I can't wait to get to see him in Concert one day. I believe I will because I'm gonna not give up, hoping.

  • Damn. What a song, what a voice. Merle puts events in life into music. Gotta love him.

  • This Is One Of Hag's Best Prison Songs Of All Time.

  • One of teh best tunes ever...and Gram Parsons version is Great too

  • his name is David(Red) Vocoff from Ottawa Canada. He was great at Roberts western world in Nashville whwn he played for Don Kelly.

  • @murphy2034 Redd hasnt played for Merle in several years, the lead player here and since is Ben Haggard Merles son.

  • @rrmaniii Yep, and Tim Howard is sitting in between Ben and Merle. He looks similar to Redd.

  • Anybody know the name of the new lead guitar player in The Strangers?

  • With all his wisdom-he must be the most underrated guy in country music-noone can do this song better than Merle Haggard, God must smile when Merle sings.

  • Thanks for sharing this video

  • After growing up listing to Merl when i was just 19 years old and now in 48. He was my idol then and my idol now, and i finally went and seen him in concert about 2 years ago. Hes still the BOMB in my book and not a song he does i dont know. And as a musican that plays 4 different instruments me and my band play alot of Merls music. Always getting request to play Merls songs, they will never go away all i can say you dont like Merl u can kiss my you no what....GOOOOOOO MERL

  • are you out of you mind? "that drummer" is Merle's original drummer Biff Adam considered one of the greatest in Country Music, he's helped write and perform for with Merle for over 40 years.

  • I had to listen to the song again to refresh my memory....and Yes he do suck!!! I know that the song doesn't call for an amazing drummer anyway, but he doesn't do a very good job.

  • that drummer helped determine what the "song called for" when it was written now you claim to know better? I doubt that, Hag obviously does too or you'd be the drummer with all of your great wisdom.

  • What a beautiful performance! Merle Haggard really rocks! God bless him. They do not make 'em like this anymore.

  • The lyrics to this song and the artist, Merle Haggard, belong to the ages. Merle knows how to "hit home" as an artist. God Bless to all he has done and will do forevermore.

  • Not only can he still sing, but he still picks a guitar just like he did 40 years ago. I would sure like to see him in concert before either one of us are called home. If not, I know it will be one of the millions of glorious things I will get to enjoy in my heavenly home.

Thanks for posting and God Bless,

    Jeff

  • Thanks for sharing with me Jeff. I know and love the song very well.
