  • This is an absolutely spectacular combination of a virtuoso organist and a monumental organ!

  • JESUS CHRIST! listen to the bombarde......as if God were talkin to you directly lol

  • Sadly, l'orgue de Saint-Ouen is tired, though still magnificent. It needs a thorough overhaul - and those keys need to be re-covered. It looks as though some of them have lost their ivory covers altogether.

  • Brilliant improvisation on this marvelous instrument! The visual presentation is quite dynamic giving the listener/viewer quite an astonishing close-up of the thrilling performance. There is nothing quite like this particular Cavaille-Coll for sheer splendor, power and magnificence. St. Ouen is an international treasure!

    Hi,

Sorry that I have not answered in time, I did not know that hyperlinks are not allowed. Disc can be bought from Finland, from classcial music record shop "Fuga" in Helsinki. Address in all Kiviniemi's videos. They have a good service also in English and working webshop with secure credit card payment option. This is not a commercial!

  • Organist and videographer deserve a standing ovation. Pure delight for the ear AND the eye. Great music on a great instrument in a great space! Bravo!

  • @Ashburnman1 Great comment. Much said in two short lines!

  • That's the tirasses or hook-down pedals and the Barker Pneumatic machines coming into play. This organ is known for the awesome Contre-Bombarde stop, probably one of the most powerful on any of his organs. In fact if I'm not mistaken the 32' Bombarde pipes stick up out of the back of the case in some places. I am in awe of how remarkably well preserved this organ is for it's age. A true masterpiece!

  • Very great indeed!!

  • What happens at 2:05? I thought Cavaille-Colls had blind combination action.

  • To @96organist:

Hi! In Rouen a part of the organ combination worked in a "pneumatic" way, what you see is true, these stops went on and off with a small delay after when organist was using "appels". This special action of cavaille-coll-organ's registration system somehow was captured when I was filming this unique improvisation.

  • Sarà bravissimo ma questo è un omaggio a Pierre Cochereau e al suo ben noto Scherzo Sinfonico!!!!!!!!

  • this is something epic.

  • Great improvisation!

  • epic!

  • Kalevi displays just about the most professional manner of performing that I've seen in any organist of today.

  • Magnificent!

  • Bravo Kalevi. Upeaa - awesome. As a man from Finland I can honestly say that Kalevi is one of the most talented concert organist in the world. If only you heard him play Charles M. Widor´s Toccata. It´s majestic.
