Zoom in and see that hey painted women and children on those targets. The snipers come there to practice as well. When they come they just paint on the women and children only much smaller.

Goes back to the late 40's early 50s.Having to train many people quickly...most had NO experience with firearms.Everyone serves..men 3 yrs min...women 2 yrs min.Uniformity and safety.Rack the slide just below eye level;start acquiring your target as you rack the slide. Do not look at your pistol..bring your sights up to eye level...Newbees get accurate hits faster ..

I don't like that spread/half crouch stance... makes my weapon less stable and my stance less stable and presents a considerably larger target for someone to return fire to.

you want to have your torso straight towards the target because thats the largest part of your armor. the front plate is larger then the sides if you have side plates at all...

Its a cover stance, Ie if you are shooting from behind a counter top or truck bed you want to conceal as much of your body as possible.

I used to think the same thing, but it depends if they wear armor w/ weaver stance. the problem with armor = if you stand sideways it presents uncovered & vital areas.

IOW if you stand sideways and get hit, a bullet can go thru 2 lungs, your heart, etc = IOW lots of damage.

However if you get shot in weaver with armor, the chances of sustaining fatal wounds are greatly decreased.

Why do the Israelis carry in condition 3?

I think it was/is because they use/used many different pistols with different safety mechanisms and triggers. It's easier to teach condition 3 to a group of people equipped with different handguns than to teach every type of gun individually.

Israeli's still carry Hi Powers on Condition 3, feeling (Inaccurately I believe) that carrying a single action pistol condition 1 is unsafe. Still if you train it, racking the slide doesn't take a hell of alot of time. As for the Squat...thats vestigal stuff from old WWII Army shooting. They still do it in the US Army pistol quals as well.

I believe You're correct about the highpower being the reason for the cond 3 carry,if it had the grip safety of the 1911 maybe isreal would have taught cond 1 origionaly instead.

Historically your right, but hi powers are long gone. It's mainly sigs and glocks in the IDF and police dedicated combat units. Unfortunately stances don't adapt that fast in these organizations.
