  • I would guess that most, if not all, those cyclist also drive automobiles, too. I would guess again they drive the same way the bike..

  • U know it would be a Good Place to put a bunch of unmarked cop car and watch people and hand out tickets as they run stop signs. Even the bicyclist would get a ticket for running the stop sign.

  • I love how people on bikes feel the need to ride on the road as that's the legal way of riding... but when it comes to stopping at a stop sign that's not part of the legal rules that apply to them? I could see if you never had a drivers liscence then you never signed there contract that basically agress to obey the law or be finded for it!

  • Hey guys, the username "freddotu" has blocked me commenting on his videos. He's afraid that I can beat him in a debate. Freedom of speech my ass.

  • Car's stop so they don't hit anything, bike's stop so... they don't hit a >3000 machine? lol.

  • To be fair, cars travel at much higher speeds. Bicycles both a) travel much slower and thus have more visibility at a given range since they don't zoom out of there, and b) stop in a much shorter distance than a car does.

  • Lulz. People in India are lulzing at this video right now.

  • One slight qualitative difference between a car running a stop sign vs. a bike running a stop sign: Bikes do not run people over and drag them under their bumper for 50 yards.

So until you've recorded a bike blowing a stop sign (or red light) and mowing down a pedestrian or 3, your argument doesn't hold much weight with me...or a lot of other logical people.

  • @steely75 So I guess then by your "logic" when a car stops at a 4-way stop, then starts to go as it is now their turn, then along comes a bicyclist who thinks they deserve all the rights of a vehicle without any of the responsibilities (behavior often found in rebellious children, by the way) comes along and either runs into the car or rides right in front of the car and gets hit, it's okay because the bike isn't as dangerous. Perfect example of why relativistic thinking is... not thinking.

  • this video shows that in this intersection there is so much visibility that no one stops...perhaps there should be a yield sign there

  • So, by the same logic it's ok to break the law as long as the visibility is good?? Maybe shoplifting is ok if you have on clear clothes??

  • @Nakedlouisville

not the same logic at all. your analogy is nonsensical. if you had more sensibly compared california stopping to something like jaywalking the contrast would not seem dramatic. you can't tell me you've never jaywalked

  • @Nakedlouisville: ...so on principle, rather than practical application of the law? Sounds solid. Though I'm definitely adding this video to my favorites. HILARIOUS!

  • @Nakedlouisville: This is clearly the case of an unnecessary stop sign. The cyclists (and that car driver by the way) rightly interpreted it as wat it is - a waste of taxpayers' money - and therefore ignored it. If more people thought instead of blindly obeying every stupid law, we would have a proper democracy. Stealing is unethical, which has nothing to do with laws at all.

  • @tdnrarogerg You obviously have no idea what a democracy is. In a "proper democracy" people vote on laws and majority vote wins. Then everyone gets to obey the law whether they agreed on it or not; not based what they felt like doing. What you are describing is anarchy.

By the way, our government is not a democracy. It is a republic. Look it up.

  • @TheOriginalJealot: Well, then I'm an Anarchist. Vote against me, if you like. :-)

With your point of view, the United States would have never been founded.

Voting for or against laws is only done in Switzerland (the only Democracy), as far as I know.

I vote for parties and politician and hope that they will not listen to the whisperings of the big

industry lobbyists all the time and pass a couple of sensible laws now and then.

  • @tdnrarogerg Sounds like we may actually have more to agree on than I originally thought. Here's to hoping more politicians listen to the voters instead of industry and big corporation lobbyists!

  • Call me a magician, but that car did not stop either.

It has actually been an extremely long time since I've seen a car come to a complete stop. Watch the wheels. If they're moving, it's not stopped.

  • Agreed..2 wrongs don't make a right!!

  • You're recording cyclists running a stop sign while making a right turn, they're not crossing an intersection or other lanes. Even if there was a car coming, they would be safe making a turn without stopping anyways as they have their bike lane. Also, they're looking to their right during the merge-style turn for other cyclists or cars. The bottom line is, what they're doing is completely safe - try to get a cop to wait there and ticket one of them, but I doubt one would care.

  • Depends on the stop sign to me... I will slow down but I am not un-clipping at every stop sign...

  • @TheMango121

Stop means STOP! Not my problem when I am making a left hand turn in a busy intersection and some spandex shaved legged prick blows a light or stop sign! (because they don't want to unclip). I have more to deal with on a motorcyle than CLIPS! I'll just run ya over and let you pay for the damage to the bike. :)

  • An adult bicyclist ran a stop sign right in front of my truck the other day and I had to slam on my brakes to keep from hitting him. He then had the nerve to yell at me, "Yeah, that's right, go ahead and kill me asshole!" He even had a bike helmet on to give the illusion that he was being safe.

Honestly, it took all my willpower to keep from chasing him down and beating his ass. MANY of these avid bicyclists' rights advocates need a good ass whooping.

  • I will give you the "California stop". No I don't expect pedestrians to stop...only those legally required...cars, motorcycles and bicycles. Do you consider a train to be a "killing machine" if someone drives under the stop arms and gets killed? I ride a 765# "killing machine" but I just call it a motorcycle. Yes if I break the law while on it I expect and deserve a ticket or injury in a collision that would be MY FAULT. SAME ROAD SAME RIGHTS...AND RESPONSIBILITY!!!!!!!

  • Get a job.

Great work not recording the 2500 lbs killing machine not stopping at the stop sign either.

    Cunt.

  • Sorry, in the 1 hour it took to shoot this video NO motorized vehicles ran the stop sign...just the bicycles. Kinda sad that the best you can come up with is cursing at me though, better luck next time.

  • The only car in the video california rolled the stop sign.

Do you get mad when joggers don't stop?

  • @Nakedlouisville

Sure looks like that car ran the stop sign to me. Went past the sign and the line, slowed down to bicycle-like speeds, never came to a complete stop.

  • @Nakedlouisville Hang on what is that at 0:30 does it stop no it doesn't !!!

  • @Kirbymcbadass Funny... if the "killing machine" didn't stop, why isn't it still behind the bicyclists after the camera pans and shows a huge empty area behind the last one whereas before the stop sign, the car was right behind them?

BTW... you should thank these "killing machines" far paying for the roads that bicyclists ride on. You wouldn't have all this nice pavement to ride on otherwise. Time to start taxing bicyclists for congesting roads and that are designed to be used by cars.

  • @TheOriginalJealot Cyclists are exempt from taxes? I'm pretty sure they pay taxes and tolls on those toll roads as well, fella. Fact remains, what the car did at :32 is called a "california roll"...which is illegal. What I said a year ago was not meant to encourage cyclists to run stop signs, I was pointing out evidence of bias, hypocritical behavior against cyclists. Swirl that in your glass for a moment.

  • @Kirbymcbadass Maybe it is a difference between states, but in Oregon - where there are incredibly large numbers of bicyclists (myself being one of them, but not for everyday use) - toll roads are virtually nonexistent and the roads are mostly paid for by taxes at the gas pump; so in that regard, the bicyclists are not paying the relevant taxes. As for the car comment: my mistake. I thought you were referring to the last car. I also hate it when people do a "California Stop" (as we call it).
