  • look i made a remake with more explossions and fun : /watch?v=W5vQ9vyStuo&feature=channel_video_

  • IVE BEEN TRYING TO FIND THIS GAME FOR A YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOLY FK I FOUND IT BY RANDOM! ......going to play it now.

  • I'd love Capcom to release a more up to date £D version of this. It's a forgotten classic. I remember everyone being blown away by the large bosses at the end, the Blackbird Stealth Bomber's etc... :D

  • I FOUND IT! I grew up playing this game...my crazy uncle played it all the time! Now I'm gonna go buy it!

  • For those interested, Area 88 was remade a while back as a TV anime series.

  • Awwww I always thought Shin was a girl. I've been living a lie! lol

  • Comment removed

  • I sort of do too, miss! Especially with how his nice Blonde-Colored Hair looks with a style like that+with the way Shin's hair looks; as of what seems to make y'all think that Shin looks kind of like a girl with a style like that seen on his hair.

And therefore... Shin still looks pretty nice with how his Blonde Hair looks, even if it is alternated between the looks of being a Girl-Like Style shown on a guy's head (to make it a combination between a Boy and Girl-Like Styled Hair as well).

  • @finnishminnow A mate of mine in work about 15 years back borrowed me the Area 88 anime. I think it was a TV series too over in Japan. Might be worth having a scan online for it. In fact the TV series at least, may very well be on here....

  • @leemarvinuk09 That's very nice, man.

  • Some of the music in this video reminded me of Outrun!!!!!

  • One of my all time fave games as a kid! :D

  • Mine too! :D

And just like everyone else who enjoys playing this Fantastic SNES "U.N. Squadron" Video Game.

  • It's a capcom game, right? If so, what if Capcom put Shin Kazama as new playable character in Marvel vs. Capcom 3?

  • Some years ago,i have this game on japanese version of Snes,it was a great game.I hope will come for Nintendo Virtual Console Wii.

  • WOW ^_^ Cool!!!

  • The airplane slower than tank...

  • now i play this in my jtagged xbox 360 !!!!

AWESOME GAME one the best of all times !!!!

  • I've been looking for this game for a year and a half. Thank you so much, for telling me the name xD

  • Can't beleive you wasted money on bombs....rookie move.

  • OMG , gonna look for the rom O_o

its been ages since i have played that game

  • Awsome game! just recently finshed it and yes u memorise where the enemy is comming haha xD but acually the final boss was ezy :/ but thou i got the best plane and all special weapons xD

  • I had all the enemy spawns memorized way back. This game was so much fun.

  • Back in 1999, when i used to play this game. I thought Shin was a girl in this game. Kinda looks like one in this game. Not until I saw the Area 88 anime.

  • Heh! Same here! At first I thought Shin was a girl until I was corrected! He does look rather feminine with his hairstyle though. So I can't say I blame you!

  • @MDthornton83 Haha seriously man. I guess Shin is more on the feminine looks just like the late pop artist Michael Jackson lol!

  • I guess so.

  • @MDthornton83 Me too. And BTW... I noticed that Shin kind of does look like a girl with how his Blonde-Colored Hair looks, as a result of having a Feminine Girl-Like Hairstyle for the possible following unexplained reasons; based on that type of hairstyle as of what both Boys and Girls would sometimes have quite often, to make it an alternation between a Boy and Girl-Like Hairstyle!

Plus... Shin still looks pretty nice with the way his Blonde-Hair Looks, even with that kind of hairstyle!

  • thank man you help me find a game i couldnt remember the for it thanks

  • I love this gam.e I just have a quick quesoitn, was anything changed from the original version besides the title? I have the japanese version of Assault Suits Valken (Cybernator) patched to englsih because they fucked around with it too much.

    Thanks.

  • The original Japanese game was an arcade game, which was later brought to the US and made a port as an SNES game. Which made huge improvements, and turned out to be better than the arcade version in Japan, hell yes hahaaha

  • God... war is hell.

  • Best game ever

  • Whenever I begin on the Level 1 course, I don't really use any weapons except the vulcan cannon from the airplane. I also know you don't usually need any weapons on that course except your vulcan cannon. Sometimes bombs can be used on that course.

  • would it kill anyone here to rip the boss music used here?

  • Shin is teh shit

  • I disagree completely.

  • why was the last boss was a big gay pink gunship?

  • why was the last boss was a big gay pink gunship?

  • Funny thing is, when I first came to know Area 88 back in the early 90s, I thought Shin was a girl. I guess that's mainly because his picture in the character select screen looks kind of feminine and because I was unfamiliar with Japanese names at the time. But I was shortly corrected when my brother said; "It's not a girl, but just a guy with long hair."

  • Whoa, this game brings back memories :) I used to love this game. I never got past level 3 or 4 though, as I was real young and little kids suck at video games :P

  • zomg, the song to this lvl... flashback. gives me the chills. one of the best side scrollers ever!

  • aww, i thought this was going to be the original area 88. its just un squadron...

    still a great game, though

  • Cool, I miss this game (greg was the coolest) I miss the old SNES music, good stuff.

  • sweetness i didnt know there was a game for this anime!!!!

  • wait there was an Anime? Cool, I bet it's awsome cause this game Rules!

  • YEAH RIGHT! Yeah right. You have beat that thing with out any mega crush? Yeah right! Nice flying dude.

  • First boss has nothing really dangerous to require it. You can't even buy it right away.

  • Best side scroller imho!!! I am 31 yrs old man this has to be one of the best games i ever played. When games were quality not quantity!

  • Swore I seen this game before..anyone got the opening?

  • Yeah someone uploaded the opening to youtube for this game. I would link but youtube doesn't allow links in comments anymore.

  • Wow. I haven't seen this game in a long time. And this is how I first came to know Area 88. I played this game when I was 7, but I didn't see the original anime trilogy until 1996. Suprisingly however, the series has been around since the 80s. Area 88 is a classic anime. Its one of my personal favorites.

  • I'm saving up for the dvd of the miniseries. I'll be getting it soon hopefully.

  • This brings back memories of how I used to play this game

  • i can beat lvls 1-7 with no weapons but never beat the game. =(

  • That's pretty good! Beating the submarine stage without any weapons would be a test on anyone's patience.

  • Blue Lightning on the Atari Jaguar is better than this game.

  • Jaguar? lulz, you mean Atari's "64-bit" console? I should hope so for a system that cost twice as much as what I paid for a Super Nintendo.

  • I had both, but the SNES *is* inferior to the Atari Jaguar, and not just because the SNES' chip was notoriously sloooooooooooooow! The two 32 bit chip that ran in parallel, which made the Jaguar a true 64 bit machine, was without question a superior game console. Emotions color thought. You might want to calm down and do some research before making similar comments again, with all due respect.

  • I was calm.

The Jaguar had a 32-bit primary GPU and used a Motorola 68000 miniprocessor to control the graphics and sound chips' activities. The 68000 had 16-bit ALUs but it stored data in 32-bit sets so you could say it is a 32-bit processor. Therefore, people refer to the Jaguar as a 64-bit console from adding the power of both processors together.

  • I like you, man! I really do and I'd even buy you a drink if I knew you. However, what you FAIL to realize is the following: two 32-bit chips (which the Jaguar has and is not is dispute), running in PARALLEL is the EXACT SAME THING as a 64 bit chip. Please do not take my word for it, do your own research. Seriously :)

  • Now unfortunately I never had a chance to play a Jaguar or any of its games. I only saw it on sale once at the store I went to with a selling price of $500. I never saw one again until the Angry Video Game Nerd made his video. I don't doubt your claim but part of a game's enjoyablity is how much distribution it gets. So I never got to enjoy the game or Doom or Alien vs. Predator.

  • I apologize for sounding defensive, but I am an outright fanatic when it comes to my Atari Jaguar console :) I have the CD-ROM player too (Myst is great on that). You have a very valid point when it comes to game distribtion, but having to actively seek out the many games was very rewarding.

  • I bought my Atari Jaguar for $99 and three Atari Lynx hand held games for much less. With two 32 bit processors -- running in parallel -- that made the Jaguar a true 64 bit machine. Also, the carts had built-in saves without using batteries, something I've never seen before or since.

  • I saw the Jaguar had number keys on the controller. Were they ever needed for anything?

  • Yes! The Jaguar's controller came in handy with the more sophisticated games and Iron soldier definitely stands out in my mind. I wish that some other company had licensed Atari's carts' ability to save games to memory with a batter backup. Nintendo had to pay Atari big licensing fees anyway so one more wouldn't have hurt (unless Atari was keeping that technology close to their chest).

  • "In 1995 a new updated version, developed by Attention To Detail, was released as a pack-in game for the Atari Jaguar CD add-on. The update got horrible reviews and is considered as one of, if not, the worst Jaguar game released. It was often compared to the Lynx version, which many claimed did a much better job of showing off the hardware than the Jaguar version did"

    See ya

  • I remember this game it was difficult

  • No saves, you had to play all the way through!

  • yay for intense fart shots

  • omfg i owned this game i was hopen i find this

  • SNES Cartridges are either really cheap or really expensive, like the gold Legend of Zelda.

  • this game is the bomb diggity. i'll still plug it in from time to time!

  • errr I guess it is on gamer, congrats :)

  • Heh easier said than done. It takes me forever to beat the later stages without getting hit nevermind keeping all my health. Perhaps a fellow youtube member will be able to accomplish this.

Firebot is already on stage 5 and we have a couple others that have upped a stage. Go Area 88!

  • Is this on easy mode?

Play gamer setting and try not getting hit through a whole play through. Liek me :)

  • Are you going to make also for arcade version?

  • Yes, I will make videos for arcade mode. 1 player and 2 player with my friend. Be on the lookout for that.

  • Yeah I remember this game.

I played hardcore too...I didnt buy any planes and I beat the game with the first plane they gave you.

Minks Level was hard as hell, but the nonetheless this was the best game on SNES. Kudos to whoever uploaded this..for real.

  • Why thank you, I remember having a lot of difficulty playing this game when I was younger but now, I can beat it decently on normal.

BTW I usually go for the Tomcat because it is the most maneuverable plane by the third stage and then try to get the plane that can shoot down next and THEN finally get the Efreet. If you can beat the stage in the canyon with a Crusader, you too should post a legendary video.

  • ^ I second that. I always hated when Nintendo of America stripped a perfectly good game of its anime roots.

  • As far as I remember, it was Capcom who did the port and released the game, not Nintendo. Second, the game itself is loosely based on the manga, no matter which version you are playing. And if you are talking about the game's title, the original arcade version (the non-Japanese version which was released in 1989, on two years before the SNES version appeared) was also named UN Squadron.

  • You are a legend for posting this, one of teh greatest games of all time and teh only game where I am actually good, so far I can get to the final stage with only the crusader then I have to buy the efreet

    Awesome video
